We're one week away from the release of G-Unit's new record "Terminate On Sight", due out July 1st. With the always-working-formula "beef and drama" dominating the past few weeks and stealing the focus from the actual album, the anticipation for the new record isn't at an all-time high (not just around here).
So it's only right that we confront and sit down with partners in crime Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo for an indepth interview. We discussed the entire creating process of the new album as well as the recent mixtapes, of course the latest happenings with the Young Buck situation and the rest of G-Unit records, dealing with industry hate, touring the world, and much more.
Exclusive Interview with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo (June 2008)
As always we have both the transcript and the audio for you to check and please feel free to send any feedback regarding the interview to: liljay@dubcnn.com.

Is this a DubCNN interview? Because a lot of it is pretty much identical to Tom Breihan's interview more than a month ago for Village Voice...
Peep: In the DubCNN interview Yayo says:
But as far as the Buck situation, I don't speak to Buck period. He doesn't even know what my new son looks like. So there is really nothing to talk about. I feel like the relationship I have with Banks and Fifty was way different from the beginning, cause Banks lived right around the corner, I knew him my whole life. I know his mother, I know his grandmother. I can go over there and get a slice of cake when he's not there. Fifty as well, I know all his family. Buck was put into a good situation while I was incarcerated. I feel like he should be more appreciative towards Banks and Fifty, cause to me, those are the two people that made him. Like I said, when he was on a bus with Juvenile on UTP, you didn't know Buck. They was calling Buck Yayo! Sometimes I look at it as a smack in the face when the media says "Yo, why did y'all kick him out the group", cause he's making it seem like we're the bad guys. How are we the bad guys when you collectively made over five million dollars. How are we the bad guys when you owe 350,000 right now, cause you're having tax problems. How are we the bad guys right now, tell me! We were focusing on the album while you were running around focusing on yourself.
In the interview with Tom Breihan, Yayo says:
Yayo: I don't speak to Buck period. He doesn't even know what my new son looks like. It's really nothing to talk about. I feel like the relationship I have with Banks and 50 is way different from the beginning because Banks live right around the corner. I've known him my whole life. I know his mother. I know his grandmother. I could go over there and get a slice of cake when he's not there. 50 as well. I know his grandmother. I know all his family. When he was on a bus with Juvenile on UTP, you didn't know Buck. Sometimes I just look at it as a smack in the face when the media is like, "Yo, why y'all kick him out the group?" Because he's making it seem like we're the bad guys. That's the only reason why I will be totally honest with you and tell you how I feel. Why are you the bad guy when you collectively made over five million dollars? How are we the bad guys when you owe 50 $300,000 right now because you have tax problems? How are we the bad guys right now? How are we the bad guys when we was focusing on the album and you was running around focusing on yourself?
What's going on?

a bit short, but a good interview! Yayo talks a lot lol Banks seems to be relatively quiet.

@Lunatic 63, thanks for the feedback
@Lord Funk, Of course its a dubcnn interview, peep the audio!
and whos Village Voice?

A paper in New York. I'm at work, so I can't peep the audio, but if Yayo actually gave that answer to you Jay, you have a news story on your hands. It's clear from this that Yayo is given a script to read in interviews - look at what I posted above, it's practically word for word the same answer! That's fucking hilarious!

Well, like I said, it's there in audio, and it would be pretty hard for us to convert the newspaper text into Yayo's words LOL. You're right its pretty much identical, I dont know whats up with that. I doubt they're reading from scripts though, him and Banks were getting cut off left and right and everything seemed pretty spontaneous

That's weird. I never meant to suggest you guys had stolen it, by the way - I figured maybe it was a conference call with a load of journalists. I know DubCNN doesn't get down like that!

wait, i just re-read that comment...how you gonna say its a bit short? i'm looking for constructive criticism, but now that i'm looking at some of your interviews on raptalk, they're like half of the banks/yayo length, so its a bit weird that you say that. your connection didnt get cut off while loading the page, right?
-
Good interview. But yeah Yayo always says the same shit, I doubt it's scripted, it's just that in the past 2,3 months there's always questions about Buck and I guess he got used to the pattern.

I ain't tryna start nothin with u or hate on u..the interview is good..
I dunno which of my interviews you're reading that are half the length of that; did u peep my Killer Mike one? If any, maybe u checked out some with new artists that dont have a lot to say on their end and that aint my fault OR when I didnt have a voice recorder and interviews were a bit short (when i first started).
I meant short in the terms of the amount of questions asked; Yayo & Banks had a lot to say; there seems to be a whole lot about Buck. what's up with 50 calling out Wayne on how many units he sold first week? do they think Universal had something to do with it? what do they think about artists complaining about bootlegging and then Wayne comes out and sells a milli first week? what's up with the rumors regarding the T.I. diss on the album? Do they also think TI snitched to get the plea deal he received?
just stuff like that I would have liked to see get included.
It's all good though, dont take it wrong - my interviews are far from perfect and im not saying im better than u or anything like that.
lol at yayo giving what pretty much seems to be scripted answer; i guess after so many interviews, ur answers get to the point were u say the same thing.

nice interview

Thanks for the input. Im not trying to make this a "my interviews are longer than yours" thing lol. I just didnt agree with your point. True there arent a lot of questions, because they were pretty indepth with the answers, plus time was limited. But I'd rather have them answer the few questions properly than asking 50 questions and get one liners. The interview was conducted before weezys albums or any TI disses came out, so that wasnt relevant back then. The buck thing was and still is, and they obviously wanted to speak up. Oh yeah, even in my interview yayo was saying the same things over and over, which i had to edit out.
As for your interviews, i was looking at the interviews on raptalk earlier, thats where I've seen them (killer mike and some other recent ones)

my pleasure. LOL alright good, cause that make us look quite unprofessional, glad your on the same mind state as i am. I agree that there answers were pretty indepth and I would probably also cut some qs out during the interview if I say how indepth they were going with some specific ones. I see at that not being relevant, makes sense.

40 Glocc's Hammers is way better then Rider Pt 2. 50 ruined that track with his insentient yelling of random words. Nice interview. Seems like Banks is the only G-Unit member who's actually speaks the truth anymore.

Dope interview. Howd you manage to score with these dudes lol?

Yep, Banks was saying a lot of smart things. Especially his answer at the end («music marks time») was on some real talk and had me thinking:
«When Biggie did "Life After Death", that was after the money came. He was making songs like "I'm Going Back to Cali" and "Hypnotize" and "I'm Fuckin You Tonight". He was in a different space, he wasn't talking about "Gimme the Loot, Gimme the Loot" and "Suicidal Thoughts". So as your artist grows, you have to grow with him. And it doesn't mean the quality is not the same, it just means the subject matter changes a little bit.»
