I am loving this! We traded Ike Diogu and 11th pick Jerryd Bayless to Blazers fot 13th pick Brandon Rush and Jarret Jack! I am really liking this trade, Rush has a big upside and I have loved Jarret Jacks game since he has been in the league, add this with TJ Ford and Rasho and 17th pick Roy Hibbert from Georgetown :o We have a good looking future!!
-
ya yo im excited too....i hoped we'd get Rush n Hibbert...didn't imagine getting jarret jack! WOO

I forgot you were a Pacers fan! Even though I have lived in bay area and nor cal my whole life I have been a diehard Pacer fan since I was a little kid and that will never change. Pacer fans on sportsline.com were dogging this trade and dogging the current look of our squad but I am not sure why, I think our future looks great, I am definitely going to miss JO, I have been a huge fan of the guy the last 8 years and I think he seems to be a great guy but as much as it hurts me to say this I think it was time to move on, welcome TJ FORD!!
-
I dunno, aint Jerryd Bayless pose 2 be amazing?
-
Yeah he is, but I think this was setup so we could get Jaret Jack, cuz we knew Portland wanted this guy. We don't really want Tinsley either....
Ya I never lived in Indiana but when I was 7 years old I caught my first real NBA game, and watched Reggie Miller rape people...I was a die hard Pacers fan ever since. I loved JO too, but I always felt it was time for him to probly go. I dunno why fans r dogging it either....
we're much quicker and athletic now...I like it....
Jaret Jack and TJ Ford running point? oh yeaaaaaa
the way Kareem, Brandon Rush can both score....not to mention Dunleavy is one underated white boy....and Danny Granger is a Beast...Foster Grabs offensive rebounds like his life depends on it, and Hibbert is going to be molded I think into a pretty damn good big guy.
we're looking good man. I'm loving it. I still think we shoulda won the championship few years ago, we would have too had we not fought the damn piston fans....and we still almost beat the pistons in the playoffs without our key players.
-
^^for sure man I am really optimistic about are current team. I thought the year we lost to Detroit in 6 in the ECF that year when the Pistons ended up demolishing the Lakers that we were the best team in the league but it didn't work out. I think the next year we had the best team in the NBA but the god damn brawl fucked that over and even the year after that I felt like we had the best squad in the NBA out of nowhere Artest came out and demanded a trade, it has been a rough couple years but I feel like we are heading in the right direction again.

yeah those 3 years were pure bad luck, Artest REALLY fucked that shit up man with the trade demand.....Im assuming we'll be getting rid of Tinsley, I heard Kareem Rush probly won't resign...wonder what we'll do with Deiner...he'll probly stay as 3rd string point, but I wonder who we'll trade off with Tinsley.
O i forgot to mention when I caught the Reggie Miller game i was in indiana visiting cousins, so it worked out...but none the less....I have nothing else to do with the place lol
-
LOL. No disrespect to the Pacers or their fans, but yall got fleeced!!! This is what we refer to in modern times as a "pritch slap." Jack is decent but nowhere near the level of Bayless. As long as Jack doesn't have to run a fast break he'll be fine. I like the guy and I wish him the best, but thank God for the Pacers trading for TJ Ford!!! YALL COULDA HAD THE 2nd BEST PG IN THE DRAFT!!!!!
-
Portland wins.
I've always liked this franchise, since Clyde Drexler. I'm happy they're returning to the place they deserve. Good one.

^^^WOW! Coming from a Laker fan, thats a hell of a compliment considering the rivalries of years past. I cant say I like your team, but I can say I dont hate them or wish anything bad on them like I did in 2000! LOL. We might as well be nice to each other for now because I have a feeling that we are about to undergo another intense rivalry very soon. Best of luck to the you and I hope you fail in the future incarnations of the Blazers - Lakers rivalry. May you fail miserably against us! LOL But yeah, thanks for the compliment. lol
-
Man i want the Kings to be contenders, the Celtics to be contenders, the Blazers to be contenders, the Pistons to be contenders, ecc..
No disrespect to New Orleans, to Denver, to Memphis (lol the franchise is dead anyway), the new school etc.. but i'd rather see a Kings-Lakers or a Blazers-Lakers series in the Play Off.
Rivalries is what makes Play Off so special. I want the Lakers to win in Portland with Kobe making another amazing game.
I want to retaliate against the Celtics winning a game in Boston.
I want the Kings to have a good team so the Lakers can go there in Sacramento and shut them all down and makes them cry.
That's what made the last 3peat titles so special.
And that's the reason why i'm looking forward for the next season: i'm liking this "new" Lakers vs Celtics rivalry.

In no particular order:
Hornets
Lakers
Jazz
Blazers
This IS the Western Conference for the foreseeable future.

In our draft-day meeting with Pritchard, he told us one thing several times, and we didn't really catch on. He said simply that "Indiana will select a point guard." I replied, "why would they do that when they just traded for T.J. Ford?" He repeated, "Indiana will select a point guard." I should have gotten the hint, but didn't.
After that exchange, Pritchard asked us who we'd pick if we were in charge, Westbrook or Augustin? After we'd all given our answers, he said, "what about Jerryd Bayless?" Looking back, as the draft was unfolding, it all began to make perfect sense. KP also said if he would have been asked for his mock draft, Thursday morning, it would have been spot on- at least through the first 15 picks. It would have had to have been, for him to pull off what all indications say he did.
While everyone was hearing the Trail Blazers were going after Augustin, or Westbrook, Pritchard and owner Paul Allen, were quietly positioning themselves to grab Bayless. The one x-factor was Charlotte, picking in the 9th spot. We were disappointed when they selected Augustin. Inside the Blazer war room, everything was unfolding exactly as expected.
This guy does his fuckin homework! How much damn work do you gotta do to find out what teams want who and in what order they will be picked? How could he possibly have had any idea that Bayless would fall to Indy and that indy would trade him for Rush and jack??? I feel so lucky as a Blazer fan. Fuck Im loaded and excited so excuse me for praising my GM again.

Rush>>>>>Bayless
Bayless plays NO defense while Rush can do all the same things offensively that Bayless can do plus he is a way better defender and much more athletic, and Jarret Jack is easily just as good as Diogu.
-

Obviously you have never seen Bayless play.
-
I dunno, I like this trade for both teams...B. Rush is gunna be a very nice player in this league. Jack is a decent back-up. Now, if only Kareem Rush re-signs with Indiana, you guys can have the Rush brothers shooting lights out for your team. Blazers also got what they wanted in Bayless, but I thought they initially lucked out when they picked B. Rush, cuz he was projected as a top 10 pick by some. Bayless is unproven and until I see that he can do some damage in this league, I wont say he's better than B. Rush...Diogu is also decent, but I doubt he'll even be getting any minutes in Portland.
-

LOL. I know you're a Pacer fan and all, but can we wait a little bit before the homerism clouds your vision? I've been watching Jack for 3 years and he has looked amazing at times and at other times he has been the most frustrating player on the court. He is a good shooter, takes it to the rim strong and is an excellent FT shooter. He also is a chucker, a 2 in a 1's body, slightly sub par defender especially for his size at pg, has NO idea how to run a fast break and can be prone to boneheaded turnovers. His value is going to depend on which Jack shows up. You're probably right about Jack and Diogu being a wash, but at least diogu gives us something we need on the bench.
And I don't know how you can deny Bayless' talent. He's the 4th best player in the draft imo and is the 2nd best pg prospect. he was projected to be taken in the 3-5 range pretty much all year. I think he only dropped because he is a scoring pg (not to be confused with a sg in a pg's body, he actually has pg skills) and most teams want a more traditional pg. But the same thing that made him drop is the same thing that makes him a perfect fit next to Roy. I still can't believe we got him. I never even considered Bayless because it never crossed my mind that getting him would be a possibility.
-
^LOL@talking about homerism and following it up by calling him the 2nd best PG in the draft...Westbrook>Augustin>Bayless
-
^LOL@talking about homerism and following it up by calling him the 2nd best PG in the draft...Westbrook>Augustin>Bayless
I considered him the 2nd best pg prospect long before I had any inclination that we would have a shot at him. If you think Westbrook and Augustin are better, thats fine, but this wasn't a homer call on my part.
-
Diogu gone is good, he didn't fit well in Jim O'Briens team tactics, he was a decent support for Jermaine O'niel...who is now gone.
We'll be trading Marquies Daniels, Tinsley, and a few for a decent player also. Jaret Jack and TJ Ford will be great at the point gaurd position.
Dunleavy and Rush will be great for the shooting gaurd while they have support from Danny Granger at the small foward position, and I think Hibberton will establish himself very easily into the NBA..
I love Bayless, but I love Rush's athletic abilities, size, and his great defense. Bayless shoots somewhat better than Rush....but Rush is an overall package, he may not have stood out as much because he was surrounded by more talent that Bayless (not saying Arizona had chumps or anything)
-
^I dunno about Bayless being a better shooter than B Rush...I think that B Rush will excel most if he can play with his brother, Kareem. Any word on whether Indiana is planning on re-signing him?
-
^I dunno about Bayless being a better shooter than B Rush...I think that B Rush will excel most if he can play with his brother, Kareem. Any word on whether Indiana is planning on re-signing him?
recent article I read mentioned this...
they Said something along the lines of "should this trade be for certain, it would unite Brandon with his older brother Kareem, who is a free agent and will probably not be resigning with Indiana"
and Larry Bird said something like
"Kareem is hell of a player, but Brandon is better" so i dunno if we have intentions of keeping him. doesn't sound like Bird could care less.
-
That would suck...I think the Rush brothers could definitely elevate each others game. Kareem Rush was easily the most productive 2guard for Indiana last season (when given PT).
-
^^Umm did you just say Rush was easily the most productive SG on the Pacers last year!?!?! You do know that Dunleavy who scored 19ppg last year was our Shooting guard right? Yeah he is a G/F but Granger started all year as the SF so Dunleavy was our 2-guard meaning it makes no sense to say Rush was more productive, Dunleavy stepped up his game in a major way last year, no one including myself thought he was capable of scoring 20 a game. I would definitely like to keep Kareem Rush believe me, but it is not going to happen.
-
Brandon Rush was rated the 10th best rookie going into next season (Bayless#12) and Roy Hibbert was ranked #15, our future is looking good 8)
-

according to? Bayless was viewed as the best player not named Rose, Beasley or Mayo by several mocks, NBA analysts and most importantly, Kevin Pritchard. In fact he was projected to go higher than Mayo at some points in the weeks leading up to the draft.

Are you on crack? Dunleavy started at small forward, with Granger at either the 2 or 4...Being a Pacer fan, I hope you were just playing. LOL
-
^^WTF are you talking about! LMAO, never did Granger start at the 2 and Dunleavy at the 3! And Granger never started at the 4 last year. You have to be joking man, Dunleavy started at SG all year and Granger at the 3 all year, give me a break man.

Honestly it does sound like Granger would be the 2gaurd and Dunleavy 3.....but Granger and Dunleavy were in the opposites. Dipsets correct. Granger is a natural small foward, not a gaurd. Dunleavy I dunno what he naturally is but I never saw him averaging 20 points a game, I was happy for him. He played great at the 2 gaurd. Brandon Rush will be a great Compliment for him.....Foster was usually 4. Harrison/JO (when not hurt) was usually 5. What was murphy? I honestly never paid attention to him.....lol

Yea...Dunleavy played his best ball at the 3, so Jim O'Brien had Granger play either the 2 or the 4, with Dunleavy handeling small forward duties. Surprised people who follow the Pacers don't even know this.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Tell me NIK that you didn't just use YAHOO BOX SCORES to try and make your point, HAHAHA they are NOTORIOUS for fucking up boxscores and here is another example of that. You are so wrong, I watched almost every single game last year and not ONCE did the game start w/ Granger at the 2 and Dunleavy at the 3, this is the Pacers NIK not the Lakers, don't try and tell me shit about my team because you are so wrong here, LOL again at using yahoo boxscores

what are you talking about?nik knows everything about basketball. no way he could ever be wrong about anything. didn't you know that? like the time he said the lakers would beat the pistons in the finals and the time he said they would beat the celtics in the finals. yep. never been wrong. how dare you qeustion him?

lol this is funny
-
Fact of the matter is, Dunleavy did slide to the small forward, I watched my share of Pacers game this year...and Yahoo wouldn't fuck up on EVERY SINGLE box score anyways. Come on, now. That's the same shit that manages the Fantasy games, so they have to be accurate position-wise. I know Dunleavy did start games at small forward in the beginning of the season, but Kareem Rush took over starting shooting guard duties mid-season, and then Kareem was benched in favor of Granger at the 2 and Dunleavy at the 3, interchangeably...Point is, Dunleavy is more of a 3 than a 2, and Kareem Rush is the Pacers' best pure shooting guard. It'd be in their best interest to re-sign.

Are these wrong too?

Indiana guard Danny Granger put the regular season to bed with yet another strong performance, shooting 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-6 from three-point range, not to mention a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, giving him 26 points on the evening.
Our View:Granger also added six rebounds and two blocked shots to the stat line, rounding out a respectable season for the up-and-coming young shooter for the Pacers.

^I guess rototimes, a premier fantasy site, also gets their positioning wrong, right?

I am a huge pacer fan and mike dunleavy did not start one game at sf unledd granger was out of the game and i think he sat out 1 game this season so maybe dun was at sf tht game but other then tht granger was our sf the whole season and i am 100 percent sure of tht i watched 90 percent of the games this season.
-
well, I personally saw Dunleavy start at SF, so unless I was hallucinating, you must've missed it.

draft winners and losers.
the only thing they got wrong was saying that this was the 2nd year in a row Portland won big in the draft when its been three straight rapes of the draft now.
-
^^I couldnt disagree more with what they said about the Pacers, I think Bird has finally got his shit together.
-

I agree that they are probably heading in the right direction, but they have a long way to go. They need a lot of front court help. Why was Diogu included in that deal? He seems like a guy you guys could have used.
-
^^He just doesn't have enough size at his position, he does have his moments though. I would love if we can find a way to trade Sean Williams and Tinsley for another big body, then I think we would really be looking good.
-
^^^Isnt he about 6'8" 250? that seems like decent size for a pf. Plus doesnt he have like a 7 foot wingspan?

What about all the games Kareem Rush started? Dunleavy didn't start at small forward then? Come on, now...you're getting ridiculous now, claiming Dunleavy only started 1 game at the small forward, when Kareem Rush started 15 games and is a pure shooting guard...Lets just agree that you were wrong on this one. No love lost.
-

IKe Diogu is more of an undersized center...he doesn't really have the skill to play power forward that consistently.
