I guess the easy answer would be Nate. He's definitely done the most and you usually know at least his part of the song'll be good. But what would To Live and Die in LA be without Lady V or Do Gz Go To Heaven without Bo-Roc? Even Butch Cassidy has grown on me. Still, I guess I'll go w/Nate.

Natte is the West Coasts number 1 hookman.
-
smh at leaving Knoc-turn'al off the list
Nate Dogg > Butch Cassidy > Knoc-turn'al/Kokane
-
Nate is the West Coasts number 1 hookman.
-
nate dogg for me
-
i love dion (no homo)... his hooks in combination with hi-tek's beats = 8)
-
Of Course Nate Dogg
-
FUCK I ment to click Nate Dogg but accidently hit "Other"
Nate Dogg
Kokane
Butch Cassidy
= 3 best
-
yeah where is kokane in that list?...i think nobody can say how "does the best hooks" because it's music and not a football game where somebody is the winner at the end
-
nate dogg then butch cassidy
-
That's not even a question, Nate Dogg is the number 1,2 and 3.

Nate Dogg is #1 with his longevity. He has only a few hooks that are not good, but his voice sounds good in any type of track.
Butch Cassidy's can't do a hook for all types of songs... same with the other three listed. Someone listed Knoc-Turn'al, but he's not a hook singer. I think that is what the topic starter meant. He has great hooks, but he shouldn't be in this list.
TQ's a great hook singer as well. Think of songs like Odd Squad (Kurupt), How It Be (Birdman), Way of Life (Lil Wayne), Celebrate (Outlawz) and Imagine That (CJ Mac) and more recently The Bar (Imaan Faith) and How I Get By (T-Hud)... and that's just a small list of hooks he killed. Check out the video in my signature as well :)
If we're on the subject of hook singers anyway... Akon has some great hooks. Think of songs like I Tried (BTNH) and We Taking Over (DJ Khaled). His biggest problem is that he is overexposed and too monotone. I used to love his album Trouble, but I can't listen to him anymore. T-Pain has some killer hooks as well, but it's really hit or miss with him.
And how can you not think of Tyrese? Just like TQ he's more known for his solo material, but did we forget Whatchu Like (Da Brat) and Nobody Do It Better (Keith Murray)? He did great hooks on the rap disc of his last album too.
Shit... Jagged Edge did great stuff too. The hooks they did on Nasty Girl (Biggie) and that Lil Bow Wow song (I can't think of the name right now) are just perfect :)
Who is really the best? It's hard to say because different hook singers sound better in certain tracks than others. Nate Dogg is with his longevity the #1 though.

I guess not; but so many have said he should stick to hooks, lol he gets offended when ppl say that - he got good raps 2
he's dropped so many damn dope hooks, thats why i felt like he should be mentioned
good points though.
-
Right now, i choose Kobe cause hes the only one whose been relevent lately. Butch, Nate and Kokane will always be the hook kings!!!
-
i love jewell to death but i had to vote for val young.

nate dogg then butch cassidy

Nate Dogg > Kokane > Butch
-
Nate Dogg is the undisputed champ but if you're from the bay you know that Clyde Carson is the next to blow when it comes to hooks.

L.V.
