Chelsea have completed the signing of Barcelona playmaker Deco for a reported fee of £7.9million.
It is understood Deco has agreed a two-year deal in West London and that he will cost Chelsea a fee in the region of 10million euros (£7.9m).
The 30-year-old becomes new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's first signing, despite the fact that the Brazilian does not officially take over at Stamford Bridge until Tuesday.
A statement on Chelsea's official website said: "Chelsea football club is delighted to confirm the signing of Deco from FC Barcelona."

Might be good for Deco to change club and it's completely understandable that he wants to play for Scolari, but Chelsea.. fuuck :P

7,9 mil. for 30-year old Deco is a good deal for Chelski

smart move for chelsea and deco!

Hmm, we'll see. Before last season would have been great business, but the guy only played like 14 games last season, lets see if he can get to full fitness....
-
He's going to have a very tough time in this league. I'm sure he won't excell.
-
don't see this working out. unless scolari revamps the team completely and changes tactics. with lampard in the middle Essien and Ballack would work well together (one Attacking one Defending) but bringing Deco in is just going to cause problems. the same problems that were had with Ballack and Deco.
But Scolari could go with 4-5-1 like he does with portugal.

Yeah, we'll definitely have to see. Deco is past his prime, obviously he's still good and he played a decent tournament, but being a Barcelona fan, I watched quite a few games last season and he turned out to be the player I liked least. Xavi and Iniesta really held the midfield together and created interesting situations while he was just unconvincing in most games. He should harmonize with Scolari, but then he's more of a Primera División player than a Premier League guy. He could get the same type of hard time in London that Henry got in Barcelona.
Oh yeah, 7even, which of these guys are you supporting? The King of Wimbledon or the one that keeps humiliating him in Paris?
-
The King, of course. Nadal would humiliate every player in the history of tennis in Paris.

imho deco is not strong enough for the premier league.

and looks gay as hell :D

^ "Strong" in what sense? He's not a big guy, but he could do well even in the Premier League...you've seen what comparatively small midfielders can do to clumsy defensives in this Euro. Or did you just mean he's not "good" enough? He did play for Barcelona...

True. Nadal's cool to watch on sand, because he's amazingly good there, but in Wimbledon it's all about Federer 8) (although Nadal's been doing well this year)

deco will nt shine in the premiership.. the same reason players like Veron dont..
whilst they have gr8 technique and passing ability (which suits the slower tempo of the spanish league)...the premiership with its fast pace doesnt really suit that style of "pretty football".. u dont gt the same time on the ball.. ure closed down quicker and al;ot of the time what would be considered a foul in europe or international football is nt considered a foul in the pre.. the refs are more lenient..
. in the premiership players with good physical attribues(energy, stamina, strength) do better then players with gr8 technical ability.. for example Fabreagas in his younger days would get bullied.. however with him being young Wenger was able to toughen him up abit.. now his imporved his physical attributes abit..
ideally u want a player thats good technically and physically.. but if u had to be 1 type of playa in the premiership.. being a physical player would make u stand out more..

Deco had a fantastic Euro tournament, he was Portugal's most consistent offensive player throughout, i would NOT be worried about him only playing 14 games last season.

personally i think its a good buy, you can see scolari is trying to change the way chelsea play, moving away from the machine mouinho made them

Yeah, good point despite the reservations I have personally. I have this bad premonition that it will become more difficult to hate them.
