since tom started wit RD and illmatic. and from the looks of it most peeps are clearly pickin illmatic. so i thought i'd put the immortal doggystyle up against illmatic to make it a closer matchup. IMO doggystyle is a lot better then illmatic in every way besides lyrically. snoop was at the top of his game on this album and when snoop was on top of his game i don't think ne rapper ever has been able to match what snoop did on this album. what y'all think?

i agree, doggystyle is better in every way except lyrically but.....the lyrics snoop spits are easier to catch on to and they stick in your head with the beats, and its some original shit..well back then
but anyways i pick doggystyle cause its got that westcoast vive that illmatic doesnt have, and its a funkier album, with great production. and snoops flow cant be fucked with on that album

depends on my mood, 2 close to call. Right now it is a tie, somtimes its doggystyle an sometimes its illmatic. Both in my top 5 of all time tho

Ill go for Doggy Style cuz its more the kind of music I listen 2..
But for some reason, I prefered Tha Doggfather, a lot of people were disapointed, and I think it's because of the singles cuz when I listen to Doggfather, i dunnno, I juss prefer it

LMAO...is this a joke??!...as my man KVB said, i also can't believe yall picked "doggystyle" over "illmatic".... this is tha thread to use the expresionz: "shitz all over","killz", "eats and shitz","on a whole other level" etc...lol...of course "doggystyle" was much better produced, so what ?-it ain't thanx to snoop....it ain't like "illmatic" was completelly weak production wise- it wasn't just very segnificent productionwise, but lyriclly...OH my GOD- this was a slaughter of "doggystyle" both flowise and for the main part and especially- lyriclly(so this kinda defines weather some of yall lean more to beat-listenin, or not..lol).....imo ILLmatic makes doggystyle look like nothing but an well produced album ,and dats it.

There's some albums I can't choose between and these are 2 of them. It's too hard, they're both 2 of my all time fav. albums ever, they are both pure classics and both bring different things that are important with any hip-hop record. It's too difficult a choice, but I do know this much, i'd pick "Doggystyle" over "Reasonable Doubt" ;D

Not taking anything away from Illmatic (top 5 ever), but Doggystyle had a vibe that no other album has or will ever have...Both these albums raised the bar on both coasts and set new standards, but I prefer Doggystyle to Illmatic. 8)

Lyrically this don't need to be debated and I don't know how u can call the production on Illmatic weak. It's maybe kind of unobtrusive, but it's good. But since they're so fuckin different it still depends on my mood which one I feel like listenin to more

there has never been a album like doggystyle, if you listen to the infmous by mobb deep it has the same feel as illmatic but you will never find another doggystyle. but thse are my two favorite albums from east and west coast. at first i did not like illmatic during that time but now that im older i see where nas head was and i can break what he was saying down. snoop was giving it too you so plain and simple, "guess who's back in the muthafuckin house, wit a fat dick fo ya muthafuckin mouth" i can relate to doggystyle more since its a west coast album.

I love Snoop, and if you read my reply in your thread over in the westcoast forum you'll see that I think if they started off their careers at the same time I think Snoop would of seemed better back then, but not that much better, he just stood out more because he was like nothing you've ever heard before. But Nas & Snoop aren't easily comparable though. You act like Nas is nothing, he is one of the best MC's ever, lyrically and flow wise, Snoop is not what he used to be, the sooner you realise that the sooner you will stop sounding like such a dickrider. Be a fan, show your support, but don't act like Snoop is still Snoop DOGGY Dogg.

I see that, the thing with "Illmatic" is that it held it's own ground, it was Nas who was the main factor, like he said "My First Album Had No Famous Guest Appearences. The Outcome - I'm Crowned The Best Lyracist". Snoop had Dre, an already established artists who had just made one of, if not, the greatest hip-hop album ever, "The Chronic", plus he was also once a member of one of the best groups in hip-hop history, N.W.A. But Snoop is "Doggystyle", however you look at it, you can't take that away from him, because without Snoop there would be no "Doggystyle", shit, the same goes for "The Chronic". It's hard to look at it that way though because without any of them that whole era would not of happened and that would of been a major loss.

imo, it's loughable to even PUT both in tha same category as rappers when it comes to these two albums, tha 2 reasons snoop was considered such a sucsess story was cause of his unic SOUND(his vocal rap style) and DREz production. As a Rapper dude is not far from just tha next background vocalist, it's just that at that time he was new and somewhat original...u see, I'm tha first person to say NAS fell off majorlly since Illmatic (u can aks all my Peepz-"The die-hard NAS fans" on this board and they'll tell ya...lol ;D) but on Illmatic, NAS came close to topin rappers that were much much(much...lol) better than snoop....
p.s lol...of course people on this board would say Snoop is better, you know- "west coast connection"...lollol ;D
