I never really got into E-40 or Too Short though.
as for Killa Tay, I used to isten to a good deal of his shit, but I never really got into him.
as for Clyde Carson, Ya Boy, Traxamillion (never really heard of him), I'm not too impressed with their subject matter.

alot of people in the west coast forum are stuck in a time continuum and don't realize that there is music after 2pac's all eyez on me

I resent that. ;D

you know I couldn't live without the negativity you bring into the west coast forum. haha

The whole "Hyphy" thing was good for bringing in exposure, but it kind of limited what kind of Bay artists could get their shine. Ya Boy and Clyde Carson didn't really get to cash in on the attention that E-40 and Mistah FAB and the Pack got. There is a lot of garbage that got put out also, the Thizz Ent. label doesn't do a great job at making good albums and they let on too many weak features. Overall though, you have a wide range, from the club/dance tracks, the gangsta rappers, the more lyrical, and the hip-hop culture that has been going since Hieroglyphics put them on the map. There's a lot of good music coming out of the Bay, you can't just listen to an E-40 album and think that you have heard it all.

E-40 got too involved with that hyphy stuff, which is why it's hard for me to really listen to his albums now.

Give me some lyrical rappers, I only listen to some Too Short & Spice 1.

i fuck with all those artists you listed. it's not dated 90's g funk, so a lot of racist square Europeans and Canadians and even some really shit bag Americans will not wanna hear it. (Although i gotta say that new Keak album go's 1994 style, pretty diverse material)

San Quinn and Ya Boy have sick lines, especially Quinn, Paris is on the militant-type hip-hop, The Coup and Zion I are some real lyrical hip-hop groups. The Mob Figaz are pretty diverse, most people really like The Jacka. Start from there, you should find some stuff you like.

E-40 got too involved with that hyphy stuff, which is why it's hard for me to really listen to his albums now.
Exactly, he used to be so unique with his storytelling and ahead of trends, but now he is just the first to reach the mainstream.
