Welcome 2 Death Row = The Best Death Row documentary. Lydia made one sick ass documentary with that one. I own it on VHS.
The fact Lydia was part of that movie made it all very biased. But you're right it's still the best DR documentary.

I've read both Ronin Ro books on DR and Dre and while they're a good read, there are some inconsistencies.
They are definitely not the be-all and end-all of information as far as Death Row is concerned.

This is irresponsible journalism at its best: Ronin just adds his own 2 cents to stories/rumors/hearsay already known to the public to make it more dramatic, more often than not referring to the upteemth anonymous source. And the way he goes about it lol... like he was really there himself.
Sure alot of stuff happened at DR no question about that but if you want to write a book about it you should be objective and not resort to sensationalism and tabloid writing.
His books are journalistic novels; they have high entertainment value but have to be taken with a grain of salt. Reminds me of those dramatized movies that are based on true events: you just know they are bending the truth to make it more appealing.

Yeah, that was my problem with Ronin Ro... he makes Dre seem like a "smart and street savvy businessman" yet Puffy was portrayed as a straight villian... That puffy piece was almost a hit piece on him... everything Puff did was either shady, or manipulative....

I'm having a hard time quoting your posts ;)
We'll never fully know the truth about all of the events at DR and that includes Tupac's murder.
The problem that I have with Ro is his style of writing, the man describes things and situations and adding his own twist to it as if he was really there which is very misleading.
It's not just that that Suge/DB rumor (which also was mentioned in some magazine I believe during that time) it's the way he portrays things like he can read people's minds or something.
If you're interested try to find a copy of Jake Brown's The Rise, Fall, and Rise of Death Row Records and read chapter 17 "Have Gun unravels", it's a rebuttal to Ro's Have Gun book.
If you and/or other people are interested I might scan those pages from that chapter.
But in all honesty I must admit that the writer of this book had some questionable things to say about Suge and DR in general that had me raising a few eyebrows here and there, I'm a big DR fan but sometimes he's taking it a little bit too far with bigging up Suge at times and there are alot of grammatical errors and a few false facts (album release dates etc).

The DVD got the bonus interview with Snoop,and it fucks up during The Source awards part.

This is irresponsible journalism at its best:
Ronin just adds his own 2 cents to stories/rumors/hearsay already known to the public to make it more dramatic,
more often than not referring to the upteemth anonymous source.
And the way he goes about it lol... like he was really there himself.
Sure alot of stuff happened at DR no question about that but if you
want to write a book about it you should be objective and not resort to sensationalism and tabloid writing.
His books are journalistic novels; they have high entertainment value but have to be taken with a grain of salt.
Reminds me of those dramatized movies that are based on true events:
you just know they are bending the truth to make it more appealing.

The problem that I have with Ro is his style of writing,
the man describes things and situations and adding his own twist to it as if he was really there which is very misleading.
It's not just that that Suge/DB rumor (which also was mentioned in some magazine I believe during that time)
it's the way he portrays things like he can read people's minds or something.
Well,to quote gossip magazines is unprofesional,I give you that. ;)
But fuck that,as I said before I couldn´t care less what their sexual preferences is.
If you're interested try to find a copy of
Jake Brown's The Rise, Fall, and Rise of Death Row Records and read chapter 17 "Have Gun unravels",
it's a rebuttal to Ro's Have Gun book.
If you and/or other people are interested I might scan those pages from that chapter.
But in all honesty I must admit that the writer of this book had some questionable things to say about Suge and DR in general that had me raising a few eyebrows here and there, I'm a big DR fan but sometimes he's taking it a little bit too far with bigging up Suge at times and there are alot of grammatical errors and a few false facts (album release dates etc).
Jake Brown is not credible as far as I can tell,he quotes fictional members from this board; :P :laugh:
