Title: Man this Kurupt-Yessir track still gets steady burn from me
Post by: D~Nice on July 06, 2008, 07:14:23 PM
The piano keys and horns from Pete Rock, the change of flow from Gotti. This album out of the 4 or 5 he is doing, the one with Pete Rock and Premier if it comes together is going to be on some other shit. This track is smooth as fuck. Lyrical at the same time too.

Pure fire. Fresh and new. I like that flow from him, cadence was perfect with that beat.

sorry but I ain't too impressed. Kurupt's verses were okay, but I don't like this slow flow from him. This song lacks power

I have to take into account that the youtube quality is very poor, but still... I don't share y'all opinions

Itīs a little different (his flow),but in a good way.  ;)
Some "experiments" work,some "donīt".  ;)

Yeah when I first heard it I did not know if he could pull it off but it turned out dope. 1 or 2 tracks with this flow are ok, but not a whole album.

It could be a little to much with a whole album,so I donīt want that.
I was thinking in more in the direction of mixing West Coast Gangster Rap with East Coast Hip Hop.
It might not always turn out for the good, maybe restrict it to EPīs so the projects might actually get done.  :P
Some examples could be;
-MC Ren and DJ Premier.
-Ice Cube and Marley Marl
-Kurupt and Pete Rock (in "works" but still...  ;) )
-WC and Large Professor

Iīm just throwing in some names, but you get the picture.  ;)
This wont come true anyway  :-\ :P

Well all of those cats you mentioned are not on a major label so it is not impossible. Duck Down does it, Real Talk Ent does it, Muggs is doing it, although both pair producer and rapper from the same coast sometimes but it is done from time to time. But I agree, more mainstream rappers should at least try it.

What could be easier though is to pair West Coast Hip Hop producers and West Coast Gangster Rappers.
Donīt have to be East-West,just to mash the styles.
Cats discredit a MC like Kurupt because of the "gangster" beats, you know I couldnīt give a fuck.
And it would a nice change up,and it might be fun challenge for all involved.
Hip Hop and Gangster Rap ainīt REALLY that far away from each other,itīs the fans that makes the big gap.

Real talk. And I would say Kurupt is definitely a mc so he has shown he can hold his own east coast, down south, midwest or west coast.
