Dubcnn had the chance to connect with Los Angeles rapper Blu for an exclusive interview. The young artist brought us one of last year's freshest albums with "Below The Heavens", his collaboration album with producer Exile.
Blu, in this humoristic and light hearted interview, talks to us about "Below The Heavens" and the details behind its creation. We also discuss the possibility of future collaborations with Exile. We then get into his ongoing projects, such as "C.R.A.C." with Ta'Raach, Johnson & Jonson with Mainframe, "A Day Late and A Dollar Short" with Sene, and of course Blu's solo album.
Blu also talks about who he's feeling right now, who he came up listening to, and he doesn't give the cliche answers we're used to. We end off the interviews with a few words on his work with Talib Kweli and the state of Hip-Hop. To read or listen to the interview, click below:

Great interview Nima, probably my favorite this year so far. Blu & Exile reminds me of a westcoast Talib and Hi-Tek. Definitely I am looking forward to future projects from both of them in the future.
-
Below The Heavens was excellent and nice interview by the way ;)
He's certainly an MC to keep an eye on in the future.
Good to see DUBCNN check in with him :)

Keep it coming!

been after below the heavans for a while, i ordered it off amazon a while back and just got an email saying they cant get hold of it !
-
yeah its a pretty hard cd to track down nowadays. Barely any record stores carry it, due to either poor distribution and low quantity. Its just about zero stock at any online retailer too.
shame, such a great cd. below the heavens top 5 west coast cd this decade thus far.
-
that's funny, i just picked it up for the second time cause my first copy was scratched, found it in the local cd store out here for 10 bucks. well worth a second purchase!
-
yup below the heavens is a great album
and this was a nice read, props
-
Good to see more people responding to this! keep it up!

good interview. "below the heavens" is an underground classic. like homie above said, its still in my rotation since it came out. every 2nd track is a banger. and the overall feel of the album is what makes it a special record.
the latest blu joint in my rotation is "city of lost angels".

Damn this was posted on the 9th? fuuck cant believe I didnt see this shit, I needa start comin in this section more often ;D Great interview Nima, major props.
But really, what hit me on the West Coast was Planet Asia's first EP. That really fucked it up for me, that's still one of my favorites.
I remember him spittin lines from that EP at the concert him n Exile did over here..Dope ass show they put on. Hope to see him featured more on DubCNN, he's definently one of the best in the game right now.
