When asked about Posey and [free agent Eddie] House, agent Mark Bartelstein said in a text message: ‘‘Nothing new.'' Bartelstein, however, did say he hoped to get Posey signed in ‘‘the next day or so'' and said the Celtics are still in the mix. Bartelstein indicated the same sentiment to the Cleveland Plain Dealer Wednesday evening. Mary Schmitt Boyer, who wrote in Wednesday's editions that the Cavs had turned their focus to the local product, followed up with a blog entry this evening in which she wrote:
Posey, 31, is believed to be seeking the mid-level exception, which will be $5.585 million for the upcoming season. In addition to the Cavs, his suitors are believed to include the Celtics, Lakers, New Orleans, Washington and Houston — at least. Posey lives in Texas in the off-season. The San Antonio Spurs, who had been interested in Maggette, are another possibility.
we would prob lose vujachic so i dont know...but posey is damn good

posey can be a great player, when he wants to be.

Yea, there's been talks about this for a while...I'd rather keep Sasha.

Lol wow.
As I been sayin for the last year - I'd kill to have Posey. We need a tough nosed player like him.

Posey is old...Sasha has a way higher ceiling and already produced better IN LESS MINUTES last season.
-
Sasha is terrible, Posey is such a tough player that will help any team he plays on.
-
Sasha is terrible
Ha!...you are such a hater. Either that, or you don't watch Laker games. I bet it's a combination of both.

I am not a hater and I watch alot of Laker games, he is WAY to inconsistent to get any props from me
-
LMAO@one of the best 3 point shooters in the league being "inconsistent"...We're talking abour Sasha from last year...9 points in 17 minutes, 44% on threes.
-
As you always say, stats don't mean shiet. Posey's productivity doesn't always show up on the boxscore.
-
Posey would never cry in a playoff game.
Posey>>>>Sasha
-
Posey hits BIG BIG Shots, cant deny that
-
Sasha is solid, but do u think hes gonna be a star or something? He avg 7 pts in 25ppg in the Conf Finals and 8 pts in 22 mins in the finals, thats not anything anyone else cant do with those minutes...
And the last 2 games of the finals he scored 7 total pts in 48 mins, thats an avg NBA player, he will def get better, but is he a MUST resign, dont u think Posey would help more down the stretch nik? Just a question..he was very consistent in the reg season, i know he scored in dbl digits several times this year tho...and he is young...tough choice

Sasha is younger and more in tune with the team...also is a part of our future. I wouldn't trade that away for a short term fix in Posey.

Again, Sasha is one of the better shooters in this league and is a good perimeter defender. I think some people tend to underestimate him because of his pesky attitude. Posey is old and is already on the downside of his career...Sasha will only get better. No way would I take Posey over Sasha...and there's a good chance we could lose Sasha and gain Posey, so don' think I'm saying this only cuz I'm a Laker fan...PeACe

LMAO!! So true. That was classic watching Sasha cry like a girl, my god the Celtics destroyed the Lakers, that shut Laker fans the fuck up.

WHY WOULD WE EVER THINK THAT? ITS NOT LIKE YOU EVER MAKE RETARDED BIASED COMMENTS OR ANYTHING. ::)
-
sasha has been drastically improving every year so i certainly want to keep him....he's already a jewel coming off the bench. so even if he levels off i think he's worth keeping around....but his potential is very high in my opinion and he'll be a future sixth man of the year for us.
i'd love to have posey but not if it costs us sasha...no way. posey is already slowing down and probably has 1 or 1.5 good years left in him before he declines beyond good value.
-
^^^Hes only 31 and doesnt play a ridic amount of mins. Stop acting like people retire at age 32 in the NBA..Look at Horry still hanging around and making big shots...Isnt Kobe 30? I dont hear people talkin about him falling off...Posey still got some good years left. And if u can make big shots u can make big shots you dont have to be 25..

The difference is that Posey doesn't have the work ethic of a Kobe, so he's already declined drastically, while Kobe just had his best year and is still going strong. Posey's best years are behind him...who the hell replaces a player on the upside of their career with a player on the downside of their career? especially when the production from the younger player is already better.

Im not saying theyd be better off with Posey, i was just saying Posey isnt that old, of course he isnt Kobe. But people were acting like hes washed up. Obviosuly you go with the young guy, too bad the Lakers cant sign both..

Not in this case. As much as I like Sasha, he's not a rare talent or anything. We can always find another shooter who can play pretty good d.
-
^Yea...you can always find a good perimeter defender who hits 44% of his threes. :stupid:
BabyG is back.
-
we need to resign sasha to a long term deal, the machine can shoot a high % and is defensivly strong and fits perfecrly into the triangle offense.
also why would you want to get a guy who killed you in the finals with your rivial team .
-
^I wouldn't mind getting Posey...that's the ultimate slap in the face to Boston. But my preference is still Sasha.

Lol @ Nik being stat happy all-of-a-sudden. Like I said, he's not a rare talent and not even the best at what he does.
Sasha played his heart out this year (contract year) but let's not get plan fuckin stupid. At no point in his career has he ever been as good or better than Posey.
-
It's easy to call Sasha inconsistent, anybody who watched the Finals saw his strong Game 3 performance, only to watch him struggle again the rest of the series. Posey may not be as explosive, but the Lakers strength has been on offense, they have enough weapons, and Posey can hit open shots. His defense is way ahead of Sasha's, he would have defended Ray Allen's Game 4 winner much better than Sasha. They should try to find a way to keep both, you can never have enough quality players off the bench.

The thing with me is that stats is never my main argument...i only use it to back up a certain thing I'm saying, not as my point. Sasha is a younger player and already produced better in less minutes. that is a fact, not an opinion. If youd rather have Posey, fine. That could potentially be a better short-term fix. But if you think it's better for the Lakers overall, then you are nuts. Sasha could be our Steve Kerr, John Paxson, or Toni Kukoc type of player for now and the future...sometimes your mind has to think past short-term fixes and look at the long-term future, as well.

That's real talk, and is applicable to many aspects of life.
