Today marks the release of one of this year's most talked about Hip-Hop albums, Nas with Untitled. Since the controversial record finally made it to shelves, it's only right that our own Conan Milne put his thoughts into words for the official Dubcnn review.
It receives the Dub Quotable: "Whilst Untitled certainly has Nas’ cocksure alter-ego Escobar seeping through it’s brashest moments, Nasir Jones’ refined wit and depth of knowledge remains unrivaled."
Check out the full review to discover if we deem the album a future Hip-Hop classic:

yeah, you're right, it's not the 8th, but it ain't the 10th either. you only count studio albums in general, and Lost Tapes wasn't a studio album, just like the recently released Greatest Hits. so that makes it the 9th.
but thanks for the heads up!

I think a 4.5 is pushing it a little. Perhaps a 4 out of 5 would be more applicable. Either which way I enjoyed the write up.

Thanks for the feedback on the review, y'all. Always appreciated, and particularly after having had a pretty poor day today. LOL at the eighth album comment. I seriously don't know where I got that from. It was early in the morning when I was finishing this up, though - guess not the best time to be editing!
Hopefully Jay can modify that to reflect this being Nas' ninth release.
-
I actually do agree so far with the 4.5 rating; this is a fantastic album.

Wasn't a studio album? Didn't sound like a live album to me.
It's not like a greatest hits, a greatest hits album is a collection of songs that have all been released before (save a bonus track or two). The Lost Tapes had all unreleased songs, just like Untitled did.

A studio album is usually a collection of new songs meant for one and the same project, and "Lost Tapes" was a collection of different songs that already surfaced on bootlegs (not to mention that they were recorded in different time periods). So yeah, that's why it is not counted in his official discography because it's not looked at as an official studio album.

Yup, same deal with Snoop's "Dead Man Walking." It's not really part of his official canon of releases.

Or his "Smokefest" album. There's a lot of those projects...
