Danny Elfman is a legend, no doubt.

If what all the reviewers are saying is true about Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, I should be reading a few apologies to Christopher Nolan and Ledger. I'm not sure if it was here or at a different message board, but people were saying that nobody was going to able to top Jack Nicholson's performance. Another thing that was said is that Heath was a terrible choice for the Joker. From the clips and reviews, it's all been proven wrong.

Batman Begins Theme Vs. Batman Theme (1989)
gotta admit that Danny Elfmans theme KILLS!

tim burton/danny elfman captured the imagery and essance of batman in picture and sound
Nolan/Bale captured the CHARACTER of batman with performance and story.
-
^^IMO the original is better though. I thought The Dark Knight was awesome and definitely lived up to the hype, I want to see it again already but I still have to Put the original Batman on top between the two but man Dark Knight was fantastic!

Both Burton and Nolan capture the Batman series accurately (in all aspects), it just depends which Comic Book you're reading. I think there's a good chance that The Dark Knight will be in AFI's Top 100 Films

he original batman is terribly unentertaining. shit is so goddamn boring

The OG for so long was the gold standard in comic book movies. Superman in the 70's was great, and Spiderman was so true to the comic that it eventually knocked Batman out the park. So Dark Knight did what it had to do, introduce all the great aspects of the Batman comics over 68 years, put them together and just knock everything that anyone else did out the park.
Jack as Joker was perfect, Jack made the perfect Joker, BUT Heath was the Joker, big difference. Now the OG Batman had the best theme song, and that's where it ends. Comparing Dark Knight to Batman is not close. Dark Knight was WAY better.

I agree with you there. Hopefully if there is a third one the Elfman theme will make it to the credits

After watching the original Batman just last night, and Dark Knight today, man it's no contest. I have good memories of watching Jack play the Joker, but after really comparing the too, Jack's Joker wasn't even close to Heaths. It was way too cartoony. We all have good memories of the original, but when you re-watch it, you realize how much better Nolan/Bale/Heath are at film making. Things aren't always as great as we remember them as.

it's like how someone said earlier.....it depends on which comic book series you base it off of.

I never saw a comic book that Joker killed Batman's parents

I'm assuming I'm that someone Jacob was referring to. I wasn't talking about the story but just the attitude of the comics/films. Either way, it's pointless because the Dark Knight is clearly the better movie. It's Best Picture nomination worthy.

Yeah I have to admit that I am biased when it comes to the original because I grew up with it but I do have the feeling that when I re watch it I will see that The Dark Knight was way better lol, one thing I know for sure is the theme song from the original cant be touched but yeah you guys are right, I am sure that when I see the original again I will realize how much better The Dark Knight is.
-
i rewatched the original last night and the Dark Knight uses a few shots/scenes from the OG. Maybe those wer in the comic but they're in both movies as well.
one obvious one is when the Joker and Batman are in the street and the joker is saying "HIT ME" and batman misses on purpose and crashes. the only difference is batman was on a motorcycle and not the batplane

yeah exactly
Tim Burton's Batman is the bridge between the campy 60's tv show and the more cartoony comics and the dark knight.....it wasn't as "dark" per se as the Nolan series but it was as Cartoony as past incarnations of batman. but it was an acurate portrayal. Nothing translates directly from print to movies exactly, and i can see why they had joker killing bruce's parents. They did it to tie the Joker and batman together.
