The Clipse's Re-Up Gang LP is done. August 5 is the release date. Nobody's sitting on their hands, though. Pusha T says he and brother Malice are working with a gang of producers on their third duo LP. Kanye West is a name the brothers have their eyes on. Of course, Pharrell Williams has already been in the lab with the group.
"We're recording the Clipse album right now," Pusha told us last week in New York on the set of N.E.R.D.'s "Everybody Nose" remix video. Kanye and Lupe Fiasco were also present. "[We're] working on 'Till the Casket Drops, the third album. That drops this winter.
"For everybody who don't know, we're putting out The Clipse Presents: The Re-Up Gang through Koch [Records]. That's the Re-Up Gang album, of course," Pusha added. "You'll love it, enjoy it. First single off there is 'Fast Life.' 'Fast Life' is just a celebration of the high life. A congratulations to all those who are still making it and living life to the fullest in this hard world that we're living in."
His older brother, the lyrical menace Malice, simply described the record as "summertime fun with Scott Storch." Scotty produced the song.
Meanwhile, the Clipse's good friend Fam-Lay — a fellow VA native — is working on his next mixtape, Dirty Music. The first track we've heard is called "War Music."
" 'War Music' is actually a sample from a song called 'Fever' that's on the 'Last King of Scotland' [soundtrack]," Fam said. "My man Shay [Haley] from N.E.R.D. used to play it all the time, and me and him would just be vibing off it. The beat is so crazy. I was like, 'I'mma off of that joint,' and I did a freestyle on it called 'War Music,' which is coming out on my mixtape Dirty Music. [The tape] is a collection of afro-funk, afro-beats. It was something funny to do. I'm doing the whole mixtape like that." ...

real shit, I missed this. The "Fast Life" video has to drop Asap - I doubt the album still drops Aug 5 without this video out. Mines will push it back 2 weeks or so and drop this video asap cause this album can move units with that video out
I thought Pharrell wasn't going to appear on the album? glad he is - I'd love to see Kanye on that as well :o Can't wait for "Til The Casket Drops."

Clipse continue to grind; not only are the Virginia duo, set to release their group the Re-Up Gang’s album via Koch Records early next month but the brothers are busy working on their third studio disc and first set on Columbia, ‘Till the Casket Drops, for a winter release. SOHH caught up with Pusha T to discuss the Re-Up project, working with Scott Storch on the gang’s first single “Fast Life” and why they’ve decided to step away from The Neptunes signature sound.
“It was time for growth,” Pusha explained to SOHH about Clipse’s choice to work with new producers. “We just had to do different things. You have to understand, we’ve sold platinum and we came back and sold 300,000. So, now it’s like a new phase for us. We sell 300k and that’s the album that gets rated XXL. We sell a million and that’s the album where people are second-guessing you and questioning your sh*t. I don’t know. We’re just trying to have fun with it this year.”
Pusha T and Malice, are certainly enjoying their newfound freedom. Since departing from Jive records for Columbia last year, the lyrical tag-team, have stepped outside of their comfort zone and enlisted a gang of producers to enhance their already potent sound.
Recruiting the likes of Just Blaze, The Runners, Swizz Beatz, Sean C and LV, Dame Grease, The L.E.A.G.U.E., DJ Khalil and Reefa, the duo are still scheduled to hit the lab with Kanye West.
“It’s was something new,” Pusha said. “We’ve been a solely Neptunes produced group and I think it gives the fans something to inquire about. I want to shock them. With all these new producers, it’s going to be pretty good to hear. Anytime a person hears the Clipse consistently do what we’ve been doing lyrically, they’re going to anticipate the next joint.”
Clipse Presents: The Re-Up Gang is the next CD set to introduce the group’s affiliates Sandman and Ab-Liva. The first single off the set, “Fast Life,” boasts production from an unexpected guest, Scott Storch.
“I ran into Scott’s management in the city and they expressed that he wanted to give us some records,” Pusha recalled. “We was on our way to Miami on the first thing smoking. It was fun being down there in Miami, we’re with Scott in the studio and he took us to dinner and he kicked it with us for a while. Storch is a great guy.”
Despite recent reports on the fall of Storch’s empire, Pusha revealed that all the controversy didn’t affect the beatsmith’s work ethic. “I didn’t see that at all,” Pusha said.
“I didn’t see any of that.”
Clipse Presents: The Re-Up Gang hits stores on August 5th.
