blazers will make the playoffs
-
^^^If they don't it will be a hell of a disappointment, especially with teams like Denver and GS pretty much out of the conversation and teams like PHX and Dallas rapidly declining.
Look at the depth chart -
Bayless/Blake/Rodriguez
Webster/Outlaw/Batum
Roy/Fernandez
Aldridge/Frye/Diogu
Oden/Przybilla
Most vet teams dont even have that much talent.
-
Interesting quote from Blazers/Team USA coach Nate McMillan:
While working as an assistant with the U.S. Olympic team, McMillan has worked closely with Orlando's All-Star center, Dwight Howard. Jensen said McMillan told him that Oden is more powerful than Howard. And McMillan last month said he thinks Oden is more powerful than Shawn Kemp was at age 20.

Portland might still miss the playoffs with the Clippers in the mix and Houston getting Artest, now...

The concern is speed, not power...obviously, he's powerful as fuck, especially considering he's been able to do nothing but weight training for the last year and a half.

According to Blazers trainers, he has the footspeed/agility of a SF and and has not lost any athleticism or explosiveness. His main concerns at this point are having been off the court for 9 months and conditioning. 3 months to go until the season starts so he has a nice cushion to shake some of the rust off.

Clippers look good on paper but I'm gonna have to see something before I consider them a threat to make the playoffs and Artest is a damn nut, but you had to figure Houston would have been in the playoffs this year with or without him.In fact Artest to Hou probably makes things slightly better for Portland because Battier, Artest and Bowen are the 3 guys Roy seems to struggle the most against. So where last year there were 3 teams that could give Roy fits, this year there are 2 thanks to the Artest deal. Also considering that we are likely to leapfrog both GS and Denver this year, I don't think an 8 seed at the very least is out of the question. It will still probably take 50 wins in the West to get in but remember we are adding the most touted center prospect since Shaq, the MVP of the Euro league and a (widely considered to be) top 4 talent in Bayless.
-
My prediction:
1.Lakers
2.New Orleans
3.Utah
4.Houston
5.San Antonio
6.Dallas
7.Clippers
8.Phoenix
The west is fuckin insane.

^stop getting so excited over Sam Bowie 2008...LOL.
-
you're just a bitter Blazer hater. have fun watching bynum get obliterated by Bowie jr.
-
id take howard and stoudamire over bynum any day if your talking about young big men. those two are in a different league to bynum. plus dwight is damm near an iron man, he aint missed 1 game yet in 3 seasons, bynums 20 and is already a cripple.

Yea, cuz there's so much to hate about the Blazers! Face it...Oden hasn't proved jack shit yet. All the hype is backed up by nothing. The only thing he's proven is that he's foul and injury prone...didn't he commit 10 fouls in a summer league game? LOL. Opening night vs. LA, I predict 3 fouls by the half... can't wait to see Bynum shit all over him.
-

LMAO. Bynum shits all over Amare...he proved it in every head-to-head matchup they had last season. Now, saying you'd take Dwight over him is reasonable, but he's not in a "different league"...Just wait and see.

lol right. Oden is all injury prone hype but Bynum is the real deal. Great logic. I guess Bynum isn't injury prone or overhyped by every single Laker fan then. Summer league fouls are irrelevant cause more fouls are always called in summer league. That's why they allow 10 fouls. You would trade Bynum for Oden without a second thought. Admit it. So would any team that doesn't have Dwight Howard.

Aside from the fact that the poll you posted is extremely biased and homerish, whether or not anyone would trade Bynum for Oden is not even what the poll asked. Fail. BTW the same poll was posted on a REAL basketball site:

^LOL...when we see Oden doing something besides getting injured or fouling his ass off, we can compare him to Bynum...right now, no.
-
Fair enough...
But then by that same logic you need to go ahead and admit that Bynum is more on a level of an Andrew Bogut than a Howard or Yao. Until he shows he is better than those two, Bynum is a 2nd tier center at best, not the next great center as you so adamantly proclaim him to be.
edit: and again, your same poll posted on a site that is not by and for Laker homers:

Sorry, but I currently wouldn't trade Bynum for any big in the league...I really do believe he's the center of the future, and Bogut is nowhere near that level.

Sorry, if you say Oden is all hype, then you must also say that Bynum is closer to Bogut than Howard. Its not all that much of a stretch to compare a 14 and 10 guy (Bogut) to a 13 and 10 guy (Bynum). Add in the fact that Bogut is proven more durable (which seems to be a big issue when you say how much of a bust Oden is going to be) than Bynum.

i do believe Bynum has the potential to be a great big man in the league, but he can't be untouchable on the trade market.

Sorry, but anyone who compares Bynum to Bogut clearly has no clue what they're talking about. Make Bynum the first option on the Bucks, and he'd be getting at least 20-13 every night. Please, stop making yourself look ridiculous.

That's where you're wrong... our management and coaching staff agreed that he was untouchable as soon as his flashes of excellence started becoming obvious.

says the guy who thinks Bosh is better than Howard.
-
^His overall strategy is to make players who take away attention from his Laker-Stars look worse than they are. Howard is currently considered significantly better than Bynum, but he wants Bynum to be the best center so he discredits Howard. Just like LeBron is the NBA player with the most attention and credit next to Kobe, so he has been like "T-Mac > James" to discredit James, as noone would now say T-Mac > Kobe since that nigga not only lost a decent back, but also his hype.

you're paranoid and make absolutely no sense. Bosh is just as much an upcoming big as Howard is, you fucking genius. i never lie, i just simply tend to think Bosh has a better game than Howard, and there's nothing ridiculous about that...it's only ridiculous to think that's ridiculous.

call it a best case scenario. i'd call that more of a possibility than Bynum as the 2nd coming of Kareem (which like what I said is also a best case scenario).
