Title: Webb got ROCKED
Post by: S P I C E on August 31, 2008, 08:03:34 PM
6 ER'S tonight,  that puts his ERA to 3.19 compared to Lincy's 2.43, LMAO at anyone saying Webb is better, get the hell out of here.
Lincy deserves the Cy Young Award!

Hasn't that been the dodgers all season though ?  One week they look like the best team in the National League and the next week they make the Nats look like a real team.

All beef aside beside Lincy and Kain who do the Giants have that is up and coming.  Because while the Dodgers do have some aging players they also have more young kids with a high ceiling that I have heard of like Kemp, Loney, Either, Kershaw, Martin, and Billingsley.  And I have also heard they have a very good farm system even with them unloading LaRoche .  I have heard a lot more about the Dodgers young kids but nothing about the Giants besides Lincy and Kain.  Again I have to stress the fact I am not trying stir up beef.  This is a legit question.  I dont get to see the Giants or Dodgers but yet I have heard a lot more about the young players from the Dodgers.

We are still a couple of years away from contending, there is no doubt about that.  I do think we have some nice prospects though besides our very good young pitching.  I believe John Bowker has a chance to be a good player along w/ Emmanuel Burriss for sure.  It is also going to be great to get Kevin Frandsen back next year because losing him this year was a huge loss as he has a good looking future, and so far since getting called up Pablo Sandoval has been great at the plate and reminds me alot of Vlad in the way that there is no pitch or pitch location that he cant handle and in a couple years everyone will know the name Buster Posey (The Catcher we drafted this year)  he won the award for best college player of the year and also tore it up in the College World Series,  all of that along with out pitching gives us a bright future IMO,  besides Lincy and Cain of course we will get Lowry back next year which will be huge and Sanchez looked great earlier and yes he has been struggling bad lately but he has a good future to and on top of that we have a closer that in his first year on the job has converted 36 out of 39 save attempts,  our future looks good.  About the beef I have none with you, I honestly dont have a problem with you but you always seem out to get me in your posts so of course I am going to defend myself.

And Bryan Wilson, thats 3 great young pitcher and a 4th in Sanchez that can be great. Dont forget Lowry was 14-7 with a 3.50 era last year..Fred Lewis has a BRIGHT future same with Sandoval who can play 1st, 3rd or C. Hes gonna be a stud...

^^I completely forgot to mention Fred Lewis LOL, he has deserved to start every day like he has, he strikesout a bit to much but overall he is a real good player,  out of all the guys I mentioned Fred Lewis is definitely on top of that list, he has already become a every day starter and is going to improve a whole lot in the next few years, the guy can play.

The Dodgers and D'Backs are rebuilding too.  Here's a list of current Dodger prospects that will most likely give us a few more Kemp's, Loney's etc

01. Scott Elbert, LHP
02. Andrew Lambo, OF
03. Ivan DeJesus, Jr. SS
04. James McDonald, RHP
05. Ethan Martin, RHP
06. Josh Lindblom, RHP
07. Austin Gallagher, 3B
08. Josh Bell, 3B
09. Chris Withrow, RHP
10. Ramon Troncoso, RHP
11. Michael Watt, LHP
12. Nathan Eovaldi, RHP
13. Steve Johnson, RHP
14. Geison Aguasviva, LHP
15. James Adkins, LHP
16. Xavier Paul, OF
17. Jon Michael Redding, RHP
18. Josh Wall, RHP
19. Tony Delmonico, 2B
20. Jesus Castillo, RHP
21. Devaris Strange-Gordon, SS
22. Justin Miller, RHP
23. Pedro Baez, 3B
24. Jaime Pedroza, SS
25. Tim Sexton, RHP
26. Matt Sartor, RHP
27. Elisaul Pimentel, RHP
28. Victor Garate, LHP
29. Miguel Sanfler, LHP
30. Francisco Felix, RHP
31. Cole St. Clair, LHP
32. Kyle Russell, OF

Scott Elbert was supposed to be up here already with Kershaw, but he had an injury that has set him back.  He made his debut on Saturday, and it was pretty impressive.  Struck out 2 and walked 1.  He has 3 Plus pitches.

Ivan DeJesus Jr is the son of Ivan DeJesus, so baseball is in his genes already.  This guy is just tearing it up recently in AA.  The great thing about him is that his patience is fucking dope for a 21 year old.  He's increasing his walk rate through the years, and also getting more power.  That's ridiculous!  He's probably going to be a Furcal type of player with a bit less speed and a bit more patience.  2010 should be his job to lose at SS

Andrew Lambo will most likely be our corner OF in the future.  He's such a smart hitter, and the dude is only 19 years old.  He already hits to all fields, and has great plate discipline. Baseball Prospectus has interview with him where you can clearly tell how smart this guy is as a hitter.  2011 at worst should be his debut.

All the scouts are loving Ethan Martin, can't wait to see how this guy develops.

James McDonald is still pitching great.  He's already going to do some long relieving this season, we'll be able to see how great this guy can be.  IMO, we should have given this guy a shot for the 5th spot in the rotation, instead of acquiring Maddux.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Fred Lewis is at the top of the list, then I'm not really impressed by that list.  Fred Lewis is 27 years old.  I don't expect Ethier to improve all that much and he's 26. Ivan Ochoa is a 25 year old making his MLB Debut.  We have a handful of promising SS, some that are already producing better than Ochoa at a younger age in the same minor league level as Ochoa (DeJesus Jr and Hu for example)

Keep talking, bottom line you CANT EVEN COME CLOSE TO matching our YOUNG STARTING PITCHING!!!

Couldn't come close?  I'm pretty happy with Billingsley and Kershaw.  I'm sure most teams would love to have a duo like this, be fair man...you know that Chad and Kershaw are up there.  I could really give a fuck about the Giants/Dodgers rivalry, all I care about is my team. Don't take my analysis of your "young" position players as a diss, that's just my objective opinion about it.

To be fair, baseball is so hard to gauge whether a player will become a star or not. Some guys have amazing minor-league numbers and never latch on, and so many 1st-round picks never even make it close to the bigs. The other thing is that young doesn't refer to age as much as it does to experience with baseball. It normally takes a couple seasons for a guy to really find his groove in the majors, so that's where Fred Lewis seems young, because this is his first year starting. We will see what team is better built for future success, but they both have a couple great young arms, and the Dodgers lineup is more established, but that's what the Giants are working to right now. The only positions players that don't have too many years left with the team are Molina (and they feel deep at catcher with Posey and Sandoval), Randy Winn, and then Rich Aurillia and Omar Vizquel, who have already been phased out as everyday starters. The Dodgers have a few more holes that might develop, but their lineup is already much more proven with a good amount of players who figure to be with the team for a while. Kershaw had a strong outing after being roughed up recently, he looks like the real deal for sure.

The chances of 20-24 year olds to turn into stars vs 26-29 year olds is a huge difference.  Sure, there will always be exceptions to this rule, but in general it's true.  I like my chances on DeJesus Jr to be a better MLB player than Ivan Ochoa.  Just how I think Kemp will be better than Ethier, even though Ethier is having a better season so far.
