only 6 have released an album under Aftermath.

Good post. Same shit with Shady records, I think that Em's and Dre's problem is that they put too much pressure on the debut album because if you look at Dre's track record, he's uaully not so involved in the sophomore albums/let's artist do their own thing.
They do drop one album per year, looks like this year is gonna be Before I Self Destruct, scheculed to drop December 9th.

Good post but Game only signed in 2003. He was dropped in middle 2006.

I was mentioning this in the "Aftermath Legacy" thread.
However....truth is, many labels are similar in that they sign MANY artists, and only release a few. The main reason we realize this with Aftermath is because they are a major label, and really the only West Coast powerhouse label since Death Row...so we always place emphasis on the artists that are signed. I'll even make a bold statement that Aftermath's eye for talent has only been C+, possibly B- level. I look at that list of artists and say damn...even if they had come out, who would have really made impact? Who really had TRUE talent and would have been successful as an artist?
I feel that Aftermath may have a higher "turnover" rate than some other companies...but most labels sign a variety of artists "just in case." When Game was first scheduled to come out, nearly every label signed at least one West Coast rapper...so it was like "if Game helps the West come back, we'll have a West Coast artist to put out and live off of his buzz."

True, but I noticed there's a strong emphasis on Dre and his label, like R-Tistic pointed out. He's the biggest name outta the west in terms of mainstream producers. Aftermath is or at one time was, one of the most hyped record labels in the game. Now with all these artists getting dropped or lost in the shuffle, it's crazy when you think about how many credible artists have left on bad terms.

When news of an artist signing to Aftermath arrives, what do u think? "Oh shit, Dre beats/production!"
Add to that, that the urban fanbase for sum reason, is most concerned with album sales/label dealings, out of all genres....
And add the internet, if we didn't have the internet none of us would know any of this shit until we saw the videos or logos on the CD's..
