Title: Mets falling apart

We'll see how it turns out, they are still in the race for the NL East and Wild Card, but they need to get it going quickly. 2 losses to the Nationals is a cause for concern, but they still have 2 more against them, a series with Atlanta, and at home against the Cubs and Marlins. If they collapse and don't make it again, I would expect a lot of players to be gone, and another new manager.

They dont deserve to be.  The bullpen is horrible and everyone knew that going into the season it was a problem.  And Omar did nothing at all.  He banked on Sanchez being Sanchez pre 2006 cab ride even though everyone scratched there heads asking why take that chance.  It is coming back to bite the Mets in the ass.  Everyone is going to say well he got Santana.  One player doesn't make a team.  But one player can be a detriment to the team i.e. Luis Castillo... a guy that cant hit the ball out of the infield and has two shot knees gets a 4 year deal.  I can't lie when they played like gangbusters after Wee Brain Willie got fired I got sucked back in even though I knew better.  The Mets dont deserve to make the playoffs this time around not b/c the players are playing with no sense of urgency b/c they are.  Just watch and you can see the offense pressing b/c they know the bullpen sucks and unless they put up 10 runs any game is still in reach.  They dont deserve to make it for managements complete lack of looking ahead and having a plan B.

If the mets make the playoffs and knock off The brew crew.... that would make it what like 27 years the brews dont make the playoffs?

And with the cubs looking strong like they are i seem chicago having a hold on the division for the next 3-4 years too as the cards did the last few.

And of course Omar Minaya will still have a job come April.  Everyone and there fucking mother knew the Mets bullpen was horrible going into the season.  And what does Omar do..... absolutely nothing.  The Mets bullpen has blown 29 saves this year.  The bullpen has blown 7 games for Johan this season.  That is one more then his entire time with the Twins.

^^That's the truth..He is simply a big-game pitcher, the type of guy who has proven he can carry a pitching staff. There was a lot of hype saying he needed to get them the victory today, and he did. By the way, how funny is it that the 2 teams fighting for the wild card have both changed managers this year? Not usually the mark of a winning team, but the Mets had to do it to save the season while it was still early.

I was at the game the place was more then half full I would say about 35,000 showed up. The first three innings the crowd was really into it more so then any other game I went to this season. But the first three innings leaving 7 on base really zapped the fans. But even later on in the game the fans really did try to get back in the game but every time we did they let us down. The final straw was when Heilman walked in that run. When he did that it was a mass exodus. I went into the game pretty emotional b/c it will be my last game at shea to leaving disgusted and wanting nothing to do with the team. The highlight of the night was before the game when they did the top 3 moments in Mets history and Seaver, Harrelson, Piazza, Hojo, and Strawberry came out. The place erupted when Piazza came out.

i dont know about that... we went 3-4 against em this season..and we only had furcal for one game against em..and we didnt have manny or even blake, when we played the mets.

our pitching is the best in the NL..and our hitting is doing all the right things right now.

This is EXACTLY like last season.  On game 161 last season John Maine pitched the game of his life throwing 7 2/3's no hit baseball in a must win game.  In game 162 against the Marlins Tommy Tampon Glavine pitched and he is a lefty.  Tomorrow Oliver Perez is pitching on short rest and he is a lefty.  The ultimate punch to the gut is coming tomorrow I already know it.

Huh most Met fan including myself think Jerry is a good manager though he isn't good at handling a bullpen but then again he doesn't have much to work with except maybe Joe Smith but he can't get lefties out.  But after Wee Brain Willie a rock would be a good manager compared to him.  But I for one like Jerry.  He got the team playing hard again and playing smart fundamental baseball.  Something Mets didn't do under Willie since late may of 2007.  He actually plays some small ball something Willie didn't do but then again Willie wasn't that bright.  He actually gives young kids playing time if they are playing good and the vets are doing nothing.  If Willie was  manager no one would know who Daniel Murphy is right now b/c we would see Endy Chavez in LF every night.  He wouldn't be pushing his starting pitches to go a little longer like Jerry is doing.  He actually stands up for his players when there is a bad call.  Willie never did that.  And part of the reason the bullpen is so bad is b/c Willie had no idea how to handle a bullpen.  His post game interviews would just leave you shaking your head.  Maybe Jerry isn't that great of a manager but compared to Willie its like having Bobby V back lol.  I miss Bobby V
