three reasons:
1) He pretty much single handedly turned our offense around.
2) By turning our offense around, were 1 game away (barring that our BP falls apart in 6 outs worth of work) from clinching the NLW.
3) see 1 & 2
pujols? na. not in the playoffs.
howard? na. too low of a BA.
delgado? not unless the mess make the playoffs...which isnt looking too good. :P
dunn? see: howard
wright? see: delgado
gonzalez? see: pujols
my point: manny has taken this team and slugged it on his back. pretty much guaranteeing the division for us.
isnt that what the mvp is? the ONE person on the team to take charge and help his team reach the land of milk and honey? you name me ONE other player hitter who has done that...

i'm all for it, but i think the voters would use the fact that he's playing in the NL west against him.
-
LOL
-
he'll only have played in 50+ games by the time the season ends
maybe that's unfair to someone else in the NL having an MVP year
question is, is there really a front runner?
if not then I would not be obliged to Ramirez winning the MVP
although he probably wouldn't win and rightfully so, he should be in the talks regardless

lets take a look at the stats:
17 HR / 53 RBI / .398 AVG / .491 OBP / .757 SLG
even if it is only 50 games, those stats are GODLY.

Lance Berkman from 4/20 to 06/04
433/522/813
Albert Pujols from 7/26 to 9/11
393/492/813
Dan Uggla from 4/19 to 06/05
368/449/800
Chipper Jones from 4/9 to 5/29
385/482/736
Pujols deserves it. I would still give it to Hanley Ramirez, Chipper and Berkman over Manny too.

the MVP should be able to play DEFENSE not just OFFENSE

manny plays defense, the NL has no DH

i know a lot of the old school folk dont think there should be a DH in the NL, but i think there should be. i see no reason to risk injury to our pitchers by batting or running the bases.

FUCK NO.... having a pitcher hit adds so much more strategy to the game. I am sorry but your baseball discussion card has been revoked. Boo Hoo the pitcher may get hurt. GOD DAMN WHAT KIND OF FUCKING PUSSY SHIT IS THAT. Baseball has gotten so fucking pussified even the fans are turning into pussies. The pitcher should hit and the DH is a joke.

David Wright does not deserve to have his named mentioned. As a Met fan he has disappeared the when the Mets need him most. Even though some of the stats will tell you otherwise. I have watched majority of Met games this year so I see the team day in and day out and how small Wright has come up in big spots. I know I know myth is a clutch... fuck out of here. Reyes and Delgado are more deserving of MVP then Queen David.

fuck all that.
except for a few exceptions, the 9th hole is an automatic out. whats wrong with replacing an auto out, with a bat? weather it be a power bat, a lead off speedster or a slap hitter.
your only argument is "strategy"...well, you can still have strategy with the DH..stealing bases, hit n run, bunt for hit, suicide squeeze, are all strategies in baseball that can still continue with the DH.
the only "strategy" that would be eliminated would be the double switch and maybe a pinch hit situation...and even then, the latter is only affected to a certain degree.

lemme ask you this..its the first half of the 09 season, your mulit-million dollar investment, johan, goes down with some sort of muscle injury that happened to him while running the bases that causes him to miss the rest of the season..and as a result, your pitching staff suffers and dont make the playoffs. how the fuck would you feel?

It would suck but thats part of the game and that is something that makes the game so beautiful.

What next we have to eliminate taking the catcher out b/c he may get injured. Injuries are part of the game.
