Title: How do singles in the US get in the BILLBOARD CHARTS? Based on record sales?
Post by: DJJohnB on October 03, 2008, 01:51:03 PM
I'm from the UK, and here, songs get in the "Top 40 Singles" chart based on RECORD SALES ONLY. They have the highest chance of getting in the charts on the 1st week of its release.

What factors influences singles to get in the "Billboard Top 100 Songs" Singles Chart? I heard that Radio Play is the only thing that effects how high a single charts in the US?

Hoping a US citizen with music knowledge can answer....

I think it's just based on how many spins it gets. I'm not 100% sure though.
