as you probably have realised, i've not been around much in the last 18 months.. i'm not ever going to be about as much as i used to be.. factors are my girl, skating when its dry (england right? haha). my iphones letting me browse a bit more when i'm at my girls (half the week).. and with the changes coming to dubcc (new mods is phase 2) and some other shit that MAY happen if shit doesnt happen to our liking things will be reigned in.. so shits going to smooth a bit on the distruptive elements front
i've not been out of the game entirely, but i've missed a lot of goings on.. i'm gonna have to skim the dubcnn archives and see anything major...
i've listened to cubes, nas, games and snoops latest efforts.. (all "meh" really...) and had listened to a fair few of crookeds hiphop weeklys.. (too much boss talk.. ok we get that you are the boss... "biggest overrated sole survivor" of death row..).. i'm gonna check that spider mixtape.. but nothing has really got me interested.. hiphop seems depresed right now
the last rap album i rinsed to death (in the car) .. was k-dee.. ass, gas or cash..
btw outside rap i've also still been listening to lots of Dylan, cash etc.. currently pretty big on the reggae/dub tip thanks to a friend of mine.. love damian + steven marley's latest efforts..
Anways.. point is.. this 'BOSS' is back..
so.. What may I have missed over the last 18 months or so? suggest things for me to check out..

Seer you should check out Daz's new album, "Only On The Left Side". Sen Dog also dropped a new solo album, Cube's was good too.
Prodigy's "HNIC 2" was a great album too, you should definently check out that too. Onyx dropped a album full of rare and some unreleased tracks.
Sticky Fingaz has a new song called "Debo The Game", check out that too.
-
ah new daz.. ok.. any standouts? last few daz/dpg albums shit seemed like 1or 2 reasonable tracks then filler...
btw also want to add.. stoked that finally have my music collection sorted in both itunes + windows media centre... really making progress importing/tagging everything.. have a whole bunch of vinyl to import at some point though..

:)
i have at least 20+ reggae albums to get through as well!
-
Missed you Seer' ;D
I'd say you will like majority of Daz latest album, You and I are both ATL fans, so give Hutch's album a go its got some good cuts on there, of course The western union projects are pretty damn good.
could you let me know of the best place to get such albums delivered to us here in the UK?
Tried cduniverse but got nasty custom charges too! thanks
-
www.friscostreetshow.com ?
i tend to just order lots at a time to make the postage worthwhile...
rip hiphopsite.com :(
what/how many western union projects are there?
-
You should really check out Young Maylay's The Real Coast Guard with out
doubt better than any other album or mixtape so far this year, the whole mixtape
is put together by Crazy Toones and WC is on it. The stand out track is You Aint Uh,
but every track on there is well above the standard of most West Coast albums
out at the moment

You should check Pain Language by DJ Muggs & Planet Asia. No corporate dick sucking on Pain Language, only hip-hop.

that friscostreetshow is ok, il stick with cduniverse.
western union dropped an album, and there was a mixtape released on dubcnn called houseshoe music (which many preferred)
There was also Games pain remix feat bun b, jadakiss, fat joe etc which is worth checking out

What's New in The Vault (http://www.dubcnn.com/thevault/whatsnew/) is a good place to check out what you've missed out on the last couple of months..
-
what's up Seer, i'm glad you're a bit more active now ;)
anyway, you should check out all of bishop's street albums ( nigger noize, calitroit, the pope mobile and the confessional)
Public Enemy - Remix of a nation ( features remixes and extended mixes of rebirth of a nation)
Erotic D's debut album was released recently ( currently it's not available in cd format, only digital :P ); a few tracks of it were dropped on dubcnn ( as well as a few Six-2 tracks, his debut is supposably dropping within a few weeks)
WC's last album , Guilty by affiliation, in case you haven't checked it yet ;)
and look out for Paris' new album, Acid Reflex:

Bishop's "The Confessional" is my personal favourite release this year - a true album-quality mixtape. Not a lot of filler either.

Check out the Dubb Union album. There is an entire song about smacking bitches around who talk back and don't obey, it's called Bacc Talk and it's fire thanks to Soopafly. There's also another song called "I Don't Like You" in which Soopafly and company rap about pretending to be interested in ugly bitches in order to get with their hot friends. I think they threaten to beat bitches in that one too. It's a pretty good album.

its on the list already......... but whats with the pimp slap obsession? haha

Holla @ Al Bundy or E.B.K for the Bay slaps. Last I heard Fab left or got dropped by Atlantic, but released something independent I think.

Seer, I don't really pay much attention to new artists, but Wale, Jay Electronica, Termanology are some of the artists one should not sleep on.DJ K.O., DJ Revolution, Jake One all released compilation albums with ILL guest apperances this month.Statik Selektah is dropping another one to my knowledge, and his old one (Spell My name right from late 2007 or early 2008) was mega dope
also, if you're a mobb deep fan, their Pre-Infamous Demo Tape also leaked sometime this year, which is raw as hell (sound quality is not eally good tho, but still, I've been bumping it a lot, as well as all their earlier stuff in the past month)
-
Damn Seer, I thought you were dead or something.
Wow, 18 months, let's see... The quality records have been quite far between, but a couple sure have come up during the last 18 months.
Young De's "Audio Hustlaz" (which is free, thanks DubCNN!), Bishop Lamont's "Confessional" (also free, thanks DubCNN!) and Young Maylay's "Real Coast Guard" have really been the highlights as far as new cats go. All excellent records in my opinion. They're mixtapes really only by name, these could've easily been official albums. It's crazy that De's and Bishop's record are free. Maylay's is fully worth the $10 also.
From the heavyweights The Game has probably dropped the best album in recent memory - a truly excellent record, might be his best one yet.
Personally I think Nas' new joint is really good, I'd suggest you give it another chance.
I think Cube's record was OK, but not really an album of consistent quality. Cop the standout tracks (for ex. It Takes a Nation, Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It, Get Used To It (get at least that one)) off it, you should be good to go with those.
WC's last record was good, definately worth checking out.
Ghostface Killah's "Big Doe Rehab", from last December. A really good record, a must if you're into Wu-Tang.
Wu-Tang Clan's "8 Diagrams" has got quite a bad rep, but I think it's solid. I can understand the critizism for it though, since it's not quite the traditional Wu sound people were expecting, but I think it's an excellent record, no doubt.
GZA also dropped a new solo just now, "Pro Tools". Another no-brainer if you're into the Clan.
I'm looking to check out Murs', new joint, but as usual Finnish record stores aren't really on the up 'n up when it comes to these things. But I'm hearing good things about the record.
A lot of those were mentioned already, but I guess I'm giving some further incentive on those particular joints.
