I like the look and feel of the PS3 and its controller and the graphics look great,
BUT the Xbox360 is cheaper (even though it looks kinda weird and the graphics not as good they say or just the same?)
Is the Ps3 worth the extra $250 or so?
Whatchall think......
-
Well, you get an Blu Ray player with the PS3, and I guess that's the future.
I currently got a 360, but I don't play that much.

i was surprised at the price of the 360 aswell.
But my buddy was saying that the reason the 360 is cheaper cuz it doesnt include the hardrive or someshit. (which means you cant save memory to the system without one)
SO once you buy the hardrive additionally, itll be around the same price as the ps3. But the ps3 is better anyways. So buy the ps3
-
PS3 is great but it doesn't have as much quality games as XBox 360 has yet. If you're into blu-ray i guess it might be worth getting one but i might wait for the price to drop again so its more worth my money.
-
Thanx for the advice yall!!!!!
The Ps3s selling now got 80gb of hardrive!!! Why would it need that much!!!???? :o
Are the graphics better on ps3? They look a little better, are they really or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?
I just wanna play Call of Duty 4 and Fallout 3, maybe that new Metal Gear too...
-
if you have a HDTV or you are getting one in the future then definitely get the PS3
-
Games that comes out on both systems have equal graphics, sometimes a little bit better on the 360 (assassin's creed, gtaIV, devil may cry, etc). All the prices for all the 360s models went down last month. You can get a 60 gb premium model for 299$. I paid 399$ one year ago for my 20gb model. The game catalog is 3 to 4 times bigger on the 360. You also get add ons for multi systems games (gta IV and tomb raider to name those twos).HD is not and argument both systems are equiped with componant and hdmi connections so you can play games in 1080p. And if you want to know, hdmi is just a gimick, it's true that the image is a little better, but the sounds is the best on a componant connection. The only advantage the ps3 got on the 360 to me is the free multiplayer ( but it's arguable since the xbox live is far better) and the incorporated wi-fi (if you need it). If you have a good internet connection you can rent movies on the live network for 3-4 $ in HD format so the blue-ray will soon be an argument of the past. There's already rumors of the future ps4, i think sony will give it up on this generation and come back with a similar system with inovations like they did for the wii which is basically a gamecube with a cool controller.
Also chose the system with the games you like the most. For me it's shooters and racing simulation, and personnaly nothing get close to gears of war 2 and the forza serie.

the only reason i bought a 360 (halo 3 edition 20 gig hard drive, $400+ but i'm sure the price of a regular xbox with 20 gigs of hard drive is way cheaper) was for Halo 3 but i'm really glad i bought it. it's totally worth it and even though the ps3 has better graphics and blu ray, the xbox 360 has far better games. (halo, gears of war 2, etc etc) along with better graphics and blu ray, the ps3 offers free online gaming, but i think that's the only thing that separates both systems but at 50 dollars for a year of xbox live, it's totally worth it just for the marketplace on xbox
-
i have both. and the only thing i would say
graphics: ps3 > xbox360
online play: xbox360 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ... >>>>>>>>> ps3

I'm beginning to think you work for Microsoft lol.
But anyway it depends on your own taste, the xbox has many sci-fi/fantasy and fps games while the ps3 has many action/adventures games.

Beside drake's fortune what game got better graphics than gears of war on the ps3? it's not true that the ps3 has better graphics, in fact the 360 graphic card got twice the memory of ps3's one

was a big fan of the ps2 because of the games, but seeing the ps3 being more a multimedia plateform than a gaming system really turned me off. In my head it was clear that i'd buy the ps3 in the beginning i couldn't wait for gran tourismo 5. The game is always getting delayed, same thing for killzone 2

graphics: ps3 > xbox360
online play: xbox360 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ... >>>>>>>>> ps3
Fun and joke aside the graphics are basically identical, don't come off about PS3 is better graphically, there's been numerous comparisons of games for both consoles (Sport ones like NBA and so on) and it's practically the same. Another prime example, COD4, they're the same. If one game looks better on one console against the other it's purely because the creators felt they had to give a little difference or more shadowing or some dogfart like that.
It all depends on how far a developer / programmer takes the level of graphics for that particular game.
-
Thanx everybody for the ad-vice!!!
I'm leaning toward the PS3 now, here my reasons (call me out on any if you wish, it will help me decide):
-you can store all sorts of files on the PS3 like downloaded movies and pictures, whereas I don't think you can on the Xbox360....you can only store stuff you've downloaded from xbox/microsoft sources and paid for.
-im a fan of old ps2 titles like Tenchu, resident evil and Hitman, so its cool I can still play them on the ps3
-the graphics are the same on most games, but I was looking at Metal Gear Solid 4 and final fantasy sumthing, the graphics look nuts, better than xbox...but I guess thats because they are exclusive titles...So word:
It all depends on how far a developer / programmer takes the level of graphics for that particular game.
-blu-ray dosn't mean a thing to me tho..although it does look cool especially in 'real time'.
-i guess ive just gotten used to the ps controller...
-i think i like the look of the ps3 better...
-you gotta pay to play xbox360 online, that turns me off, because im already paying the internet bill on top of that....
Otherwise I guess it isnt much of a difference in performance and so it comes down to more a personal preference thing: not that one is better than the other.
-
im completely neutral in this xbox vs ps3 thing and i would say the xbox is still a better option for a gamer but it does depend on the titles you want to play. ps3 is starting to get some good stuff and catch up though...
-
eye feel you......... shit eye was thinking about upgrading ( eye got the slim ps2) but eye been playing ps since back in the day........and like you said eye am just used to the feel off the controllers.............xbox got these overweight controllers with mad buttons for no reason.............but yea eye saw that price of the 360 and was thinking about xbox..................but on the other hand them crackers over at microsoft make you pay to play online....... and that shits whack
-
its not like u have to pay monthly for online...all u gotta do it go to a game store and buy a card for like a 1 yr xbox live, i think its like $40 bones or maybe a bit more then go on ur xbox and put in the key thats on the cars....or u can just put ur credit card on ur account and just buy it right off xbox live...the online gaming is ten times beeter on xbox so i dont mind payin the money
-
i ahd xbox im on my 3rd one.. i ahte paying for the online i cant surf the net or dload files.. i leave my ps3 on all day i play Blurays on it.. if u leave it the screen saver is a picture of the world u can zoom into your nearist city get weather and newx reports... xbox aint got none of that... i still play xbox but it feels clumbsy alsomt for kids?.. i got that turismo on ps3 tahts shits crazy
-

yeah its crazy, you can't download or even put stuff onto the xbox360, you are only allowed to put on stuff that you buy of microsoft!
I seen that globe screen saver too its fresh...

Based on some of the things you mentioned, the PS3 is better. Be warned though, the newer PS3 models do not play PS2 games so you'll have to hunt down one that does. The PS3 is more but a lot of people don't consider one simple thing... it has free online. If you bought a 360 with a hard drive 299 plus you probably plan to play it a good 3-5 years... that's roughly an additional 200 to play online. Let's also not forget that the 360 tends to break A LOT. Every single person I know has had their 360 break down on them. Plus you already said you wanted MGS4 (the best game I've played in a long time) so I think the choice is simple.
Having said that... the 360 does seem to have better exclusive titles and keeps buying Sony's exclusives. It was just announced that Tekken 6 will be coming out for both systems. Games you'll never be able to play if you only buy a PS3 inclue Gears of War 1 and 2, Crackdown, Halo 3, Fable 2, and Forza (the best driving game ever). The only good exclusives for Sony seem to be MGS4, LBP, and Disgaea 3 (the Resistance series is greatly overrated)... to be honest those hardly seems like good enough reasons to buy a PS3 for even though MGS4 is so great.
All in all, you pretty much get what you pay for on each system. If I'm in your shoes, I'd get the PS3.

Blu-Ray is the shit! Once you start watching blu-rays on a nice hdtv you will never go back. If you pay attention to everything and read up you will see that Blu-Ray is catching more and more steam by the day, there is no doubt that Blu-Ray is going to be here for a very, very long time.
-
i have a 52 inch plasma and blu ray player already so i went with the xbox 360. the ps3 is cool and all but i don't really need it. plus i like the games on xbox alot more. you can't really go wrong i don't think if you get either one. it just depends on what you're going to be doing with your entertainment system in the future. if you don't want to buy a blu ray player now (expensive as fuck) i say get the ps3, it's a bit slower than a stand alone player, but it'll get the job done.

Tenchu,Hitman and the new Resident evil 5 when it comes out are all available on the xbox 360 and tekken 6 is coming out on 360 too the same day as ps3
I Have both of the systems and they both have there advantages
You can do more with the ps3 besides games (watching divx movies, pictures, internet, bluray etc)
Xbox 360 has much better online play which I do not mind paying for at all
graphics are pretty much the same
-
360 has more good games bottom line if youre buying it for games dont buy a ps3
-
The ps controller was the best back then but now there's too much buttons on it for it's size plus it doesn't shake. The old xbox had weak controllers but i gotta the new one is cool, never had no problem with. You can save music and files on the xbox 360 i dont now who told ya it didn't read stuff but i'm always watching videos from my ipod on my console. Another point, final fantasy is coming on the 360, ps3 loose all it's exclusive games. About the rod, i think the new generations ( the falcon models with the new 175 W power supply) are reliable. I must admit it was one weak link in the past maybe it's still is but not as much. I never had trouble with mine i'm crossing my fingers.
-
i gotta say speaking to a lot of gamers the xbox is plain unreliable. if you play it a good amount you can almost definitely expect it to break at some stage. in comparison the ps3 has been rock for nearly everyone. that wasn't really a consideration for me but i know at some stage maybe after my warranty has ended that the 360 will probably burn out. that includes all the 'new versions' of it too, they just have a lower reported failure rate for now...
-
33% failure rate on xbox 360
No Blu Ray
HD DVD failed
Blue Ray holds 10 GB more than HD DVD (more room for game related things, GTA 4 had to be scaled back because of the limits of 360)
PS3 has Free online play
Console exclusives don't mean much when the bulk of the games you want are on both systems, which in my case they are. I mostly play sports games and action games. All those FPS games for Xbox mean nothing to me since those games are boring as fuck to me for the most part. The main advantages ps3 has are the Blu Ray player and the dumb ass high rate of 360 failures. Even if its under warranty you still have to pay to ship it to get serviced ($30 to fix some shit that shouldn't have broken in the first place??!!!?) and you have to go without your console for roughly 2 weeks. I was real close to buying a 360 but PS3 just seems more reliable and you get more for your money.
-
yeah im getting the ps3, its twice as fast its got 7 processors, whereas the xbox360 has 3...
means it can do more shit, more extensive battlefields with more shit flying around...
i see the difference when i play gears of war on xbox360 and resistance on ps3.
-
yeah The ps3 is more reliable plus if you have or are getting a hdtv a ps3 is a must, blu-ray is the fuckin shit!! and even though blu-rays are expensive just get a membership to netflix, they have every blu-ray known to man
-
^yeah ps3's blu rays bot 50gb of memory on em whereas xbox's 'only' 30Gb, means ps3 games are capable of way more shit....
I gots my mind made up.
-
i think the disc capacity is overhyped most games dont need more than a dual layered dvd, but its still a nice advantage. your looking at around 8.5gb for a dual layered dvd whereas blu-ray discs are about 25 gig single layered and 50gb double ;0
-
if you got enough money get the PS3
-
ps3 can't play most of the old school games.
-
ps3 can't play most of the old school games.
you mean the 40 and the 80 gb? the 60 gb can play almost all of the old ps1 and ps2 games.
-

yeah, but they don't make 60 gigs no more..and plus, 60 gigs can play ALMOST all of the olds...but not all..
I still think ps2 is the best when it comes to playing old games.

33% failure rate on xbox 360
My PS3 had the 'yellow light of death', but lucky for me, I purchased an extended warranty and got a brand new 60gb the following week.
It's comes down to personal choice. I'm quite fond of the PS3, the interface is great, you can store music, photos and movies (no need to burn dvd's, just transfer the avi's straight to your PS3). My only gripe is the lack of a chatroom or some kinda place to meet others on the network.
If you're still playing your slimline...............mate, you're living in the past..............UPGRADE FFS!! lol.
-
ps3 can't play most of the old school games.
Who gives a shit? Nobody buys a ps3 so they can play ps1 and ps2 games.

Ive had my PS3 for just about a year exactly, and I'm already on my 3rd, but it was my fault my first 2 crashed as i game way too much and it kept overheating although it was in a relatively open area, since I've moved it though its been fine (Sony customer service is amazing by the way, you get a replacement within 5 days max).
Everyone says that Xbox online is so much greater than PSN, but i know alot of people who own both consoles and they all say that there's no major difference, not a difference which is worth paying £40 a year for. PS3s online service has been fine for me and ive been playing COD4 online for practically a year, with Home (PS3s equivalent to Xbox Live) finally comming out the service will get better.
Xbox definitely has better games at the moment but thats mainly because its taken companies a while to get use to the PS3s infrastructure which makes it harder to create a game on than the 360, hence the reason why MOST games on PS3 are 360 ports, but alot of companies have spoken recently about finally being able to produce games on the PS3 with less problems, and the PS3s starting to be used as the main console for future games. Xbox has been getting alot of Sony exclusives turned into multiplatform games but thats only because Microsoft throws cash around for fun. But the PS3 still has some great exclusives: MGS4, Uncharted (Amazing Graphics), Resistance 2, LBP and of course Killzone 2 which has had a release window of Feb 09 for a long time but its finally starting to come out, with talk of a Beta being released, more info coming out.
The PS3 has more to it with Internet, Blu-Ray (which has practically won the war with HD) etc, but if you want a console only for gaming then get a 360 because as of rite now it has a better range of games.
