Following on a year packed with new music - from his acclaimed Hip-Hop Weekly series climax, to the release of his street single Dream Big featuring Akon and most recently the Block Obama (Fan & DJ Version) mixtape - it's clear Crooked I has spent much of 2008 in the studio.
As expected Crooked I intends to finish the year just as strongly with the just announced release of "Block Obama II" which features a guest appearance by Knoc-Turnal and production by Rick Rock.
"Block Obama II" will be released in conjuction with the U.S. Presidential election on November 4th 2008 and will be available at all digital retailers, including iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, Napster, Emusic and all Mobile Carriers.
Long Beach, CA rapper Crooked I has become one of the leading faces emerging from the 'Digital Era' within Hip-Hop. In April of 2007, he launched the Hip-Hop Weekly series in what could possibly be the most innovative musical internet marketing campaign to date. The monumental series earned Crooked I cover stories on two of the biggest urban music publications; XXL magazine labelled him one of Hip-Hop's Next Superstars or "Leaders of the New School" on the cover of their November 07' issue, and in August 08' on the cover of Vibe Magazine, both Crooked I and Jay Electronica were labelled as "Internet Guerrillas", with an article discussing the Hip-Hop Weekly series and his approach to marketing on the internet.
Coinciding with the delivery of "Block Obama II", Crooked I has partnered with INgrooves, a leading provider of digital distribution, to start his own digital label, with plans to not only release his own content but other aspiring artists. This year, INgrooves entered into a strategic partnership with Universal Music Group, the world's leading music company. ""We are very excited about working with Crooked I and being a part of more projects from him. I believe Crooked is hands down one of the most talented and prolific artist from the West Coast" said Abe Batshon of INgrooves. Crooked I joins the likes of Tech N9ne, The Cool Kids, Too Short and Tila Tequila by partnering with INgrooves.
The full tracklist for "Block Obama II" can be seen on the back cover above and is also available below.

It's all good homie. Thanks for the laugh.

Kobe actually wrote the hook to 50 Cent's "I'll Still Kill" but Akon sung it.
-
Oh, so embarrassin' ::)
I thought the same as you did and I never heard of him either.
If you spent more time listening to hip hop instead of wasting time on hating on people that would pummel you in the face when they meet you, then you might know who Kobe is, fuckin' retardo...

Kobe is one of the sickest hook makers today, he just steals the song from you with his hook. Good to see him on this project, that means he has even better stuff on BOSS THE ALBUM.
This project gonna have some great music. 8)

none

Right now it looks like a digital only release, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, I did read somewhere that INgrooves DOES have the ability to do physical CDs as well, but I don't think that this E.P. is going to be in stores.

I assure you BOSS exists, they change a few tracks from time2time when crooked outshines himself or when they suddenly get some crazy producer and artist for a collabo. But the true core of BOSS hasnt been changed.
-
so it exists but is never coming out?
i'm not hating but something tells me crooked isn't honest when it comes to the prospect of a proper album coming out. it's a shame though.

i agree with the part that we dont know if it will come out cause people are waiting for his album since 98, im just telling you that majority of tracks on BOSS are the same and that they are not re recording it over and over, some songs are timeless on that album.
-
timeless? we've heard a lot of hype about albums being classics when in reality quality of lp's has decreased a lot lately. they'd need to be pretty timeless given the scale of the album delays, lol. seriously though i hope that's the case. i just hope the production don't let shit down.

Good to see some quality music from Crooked I but what people really want is BOSS - all that mixtape shit is cool but Crook needs to release that fuckin album and just move on...

I'm so ashamed of myself for not knowing that Kobe dude.

I think if it comes out, people will buy it just because of the fact Crooked I released an LP.

But this isn't a mixtape is it?
I thought it was an E.P. so that would mean it's the closest thing to an album.
Either way, I'm supporting it. I'll be copping this E.P. along with Sly Boogy's new E.P. which is also supposed to drop pretty soon.
-
so is this an EP? will it be release over new beats & lyrics

Yeah, it's an EP, it has tracks that were originally planned for B.O.S.S., but no longer are along with some other original tracks. So, there's seven original tracks and a Komplex produced remix of "Dream Big".
I think it's just getting the "mixtape" name, because it's the sequel, to the first Obama tape.
I can't wait to hear the Jim Gittum produced track, dude got some nice beats.

Soooooo....... what happened to his album?? ???
-
ima cop this no doubt

can some one tell me who laced the artwork ..would like to hit them up for a project im working on
-
why is crooked I riding on obama's popularity to push his mixtape by using his name on the title?
thats weak. just goes to show how crooked I aint got no buzz.
any buzz that he had went away in 2003, and he only had any buzz back then because of the escalating beef between snoop's camp and deathrow at the time.
what happened to all his supposed major record deals that he fibbed about?
it was all just a lie so people would take interest in him.

suge created crooked i buzz by labeling him best in the west and took him to jimmy kimmel show and his single SO DAMN HOOD was on radio stations from NY to LA. that created crooked i buzz, not snoop /deathrow beef lol.
donno about the major deals, guess it aint that easy to release album in the west if u look at the bishop, gmalone, jay rock, ...
-
so obviously Dream Big Remix will be over a different beat, but is it gonna be over new lyrics or the original?

I don't think they leaked any information on that yet, but I'm assuming just a different beat. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since the major complaints from that song were that the beat was a little under produced. We'll have to wait and see though.
