Me and my best friend a starting to make moves about opening up our own sewer and drain cleaning business. I'm just curious. Of course this a couple years away though. I may be a pollack but I am not that dumb to try and start up a business while the economy is sinking deeper into a the crapper.

I should but I'm not an entrepreneur. Just haven't got the ethics it takes. Good to see you're doing what you've got to do though.
There's one curious thing you've mentioned though. You're "not that dumb to try and start up a business while the economy is sinking deeper into the crapper"? Explain that one to me. So you may have a fresh and innovative idea now, and you're thinking of waiting for the economy to recover before you actually make it work? As if the economy has fully collapsed - no one works, no one consumes? Get realistic... People have needs and wants, and those aren't stopped by the economy. There's money out there to be made. In fact, times of economic crisis bring you great opportunities, if only you think carefully of how to jump into that market and get yourself to make that difference. Yes, you will be having a harder time getting your finances straight from banks, but so long as that's not the problem, I think it would be devastating to put the brakes on your plans. The economy is still moving, as it will remain.

Yup, Prikkebeen is right.... Now's the time, especially....
In times of economic crisis, those business that start up usually have a better chance of survival once the economy levels off.... If you can't make it now, you sure as hell ain't gunna make it when everyone has money.......
I have a registered business, but alas, I have not lived up to the original dream..... hence the fact that I still work at Delco Sales....

Yeah man..
Not like I can answer many questions though about being a business owner since I've only been doing it for 4 months, but I recently went into business for myself as an independent sound editor for film and television. I pay quarterly taxes and have cards and am currently working on a couple projects.
I'm not sure about how much effort is required to start generating clients in your line of work, but I know it's been tough for me..But hey, I'm 23 years old right now and I want to say I did something later on...Go for it.
