Ok, so all day and night y'all be postin' shit about Bishop Lamont and Dj Quick and G Malone and Dj this that and the other nigga....
But how many of Y'ALL do this Hip-Hop thing here? and not just the keystyle people either..... You CAN NOT TELL ME THAT I AM THE ONLY ACTUAL ARTISTS PARTICIPATING ON THIS BOARD?????
My Name is Él the Self Image, formerly of a crew called Mansion of Mayhem that I had been wit for 6 years. I put out 2 solo albums while part of that group and the group didn't do shit (hence the "formerly" part) The first album was a cheap ass CD I burned and sold about 500 copies on the streets of OC/LA/IE counties.... My second album, Timeless, is still available online, just visit my myspace page.... and in the streets, I have sold over 800 units in OC/LA/IE/SD, The Bay, Arizona, Indiana, and I think Texas...... I AM NOT A HOUSEHOLD NAME, BUT I'M SERIOUS ABOUT MY BUSINESS AND I VERY MUCH PLAN ON GETTING TO THAT POINT....
I have my own imprint, Half Past 10 Productions, and my group is Parkin' Lot Drunks, which consist of myself and my brotha from another motha, X-Streem.
We are currently working on our first mixtape ever for either of us, but also the mixtape will serve as the first official release from the Parkin' Lot Drunks..... I have my 3rd solo album also in the works "Life Music" which I will release next year after we've circulated the mixtape for a while.... and my partner X-Streem will be releasing an album next year called "X-Streem Reloaded"....
I am also a producer, I have been producing for about 7 years (the last 3 taking it seriously) and I have produced tracks for The Chise, Ill-Lit, BG Tha Realist, Lil-Ant, OC's Finest VAPES, and more..... I am currently submitting instrumentals for the next Shady Records album from Ca$his which will be called "The Art of Deing", so y'all wish a nigga luck!!!!!!!!!
At anyrate, enough about me, what about y'all, I know someone's got to have a better resume than me???

I spit for about 10 years with my crew and we did a couple "albums" together. Then we split and now I'm mainly just doing beats and do solo joints once and a while when I have the time. I'm going to try to put together a solo project just cause I always wanted to and then probably dip out of the game though... unless people like it. I'm forever doing beats though.

It's not that big, but it's not that easy to travel unless you're flying (which is expensive as fuck).

But, all you gotta do is catch G Malone somewhere, the local rumors all say he's cool as fuck, and that all OC folks talkin, so if you an LA native, he probably got love for you off the top.... His brother owns Club Blew in Westminster (corner of Beach BLVD and Westminster BLVD) so you can catch him there sometimes....

I got a raptalk.net business card in my desk right now, the guy I just described above was suppose to do an article on me and the OC. Hip-Hop scene, but that fool kept flakin'........ couldn't even return a fucken phone call.... and cold part is, dude saw me at a Frank Knitty event and because I was wit Deziak Clan, he must have assumed I was hot shit and offered to do an article on me..... gave me his card, and then didn't answer the phone or his emails...... I hope this person isn't you, cause I'd hate to have to hate you :)
If not, then hey..... I hope you'll be writing about my exploits soon!

ahhhh, the consumate student huh???? well I can't knock your method of attacking the beast....
BUT, if you don't practice what you learn, then all that learning is wasted.... practice makes perfect, not class rooms....
You should be workin on music constantly, even if you're in school, work your way thru your classes..... it will make the information you're learning stick a lot better.....

I bought myself the turntables and I've done my first show last monday. I get circa $100 + all inclusive, it's was hella independent party. Rite now I save some money for Serato and I wanna start DJing on full speed. I'm 17, I just start getting some experiences.
I left anything for music, so I'll be down with music everytime.
Peace.

i got a little group (down to a duo for the past couple years), make beats, rap, the usual....we done a few 'albums', mainly self pressed up or burned, straight out the trunk and consignment type shit....done alotta shows around LA, mainly opening act shit for people like 2mex, Delinquent habits, abstract rude, defari, LA symphony, myka nyne, sunspot jonz, etc, etc....we used to be more involved in the LA underground scene, but the last couple years everyday life shit gets in the way (kids, rent, hustling, etc.)...i dont spam my shit in here, cuz even I hate that constant shit in here, so i leave the myspace links in the sig for whoever wanna check it....
-
Not Styles, another dude.
EDIT: it's "Junior".
-
I've been rapping for some years, and recorded shitloads of material, but nothing's come out besides a few free online mixtapes. I was pretty serious at one point, but now it's more of a hobby thing. I have collaborated with some names tho... On the first (unreleased) mixtape I worked on, we had beats from Assassin and Da Playboy Foundation (norwegian crew, dope as fuck, did alot of beats for Jay Tee & Baby Beesh and their folks... Check out What's Goin' On w/ them and Frost).

Most of the people in this thread are the main problem with hip-hop today. No one's content to be a fan anymore - they have to be a wanna-be artist too. As KRS One once said, there was a time when to release a record you had to undergo a rite of passage in terms of rocking shows and mics before you were lauded good enough to cut a record. Now that's gone. The internet allows any dick to be 'a producer'. A damn shame.

thats bullshit cuz its a good outlet for people to put their music out. if the music is good and people catch on they might get somewhere, its the same thing as sellin shit out your trunk and getting enough support to be big time. its also good promotion for people looking for artists/prodcuers. thats not a bad thing homie, it can actually be a real good thing.
-
Shit homie, lemme cop some of them, Bad a$$ got issues these days....
What you mean by that?

I got a few homies (who coincidently do not know each other) who tell identicle stories about Bad Azz. He's an awesome artists, but has some major problems in his personal and business life.....
I was basically suggesting (in a nice sugared way) that you might want to spend more energy on getting G Malone than getting Bad Azz because NO ONE has blown up from doing anything with Bad Azz..... where as G Malone was instrumental in the success of The Young Hoggs who are currently enjoying a lucrative and growing underground carrier......
no disrespect to Bad Azz was intended. Strictly Business, Never Personal.....

quoting KRS-One for the greater evil..... that is so blasphemous.....
Look homie, I don't know if you were refering to me or to others in this thread (cause I been rockin stages since 2001 and didn't release my first CD until 2005) but the fact of the matter is, anyone who does this Hip-Hop shit and is any good at it, IS A FAN!!!!!
How can you make Hip-Hop without being a fan of it in the first place?????? That's like playin Jazz piano and not being able to stand Miles Davis... that's fuckin stupid.....
Granted, there is A LOT of FILLER in today's Hip-Hop market.... but open your eyes, it's not just Hip-Hop... Rock, alternative, R&B, Soul.... all genre's of music have had their ranks infiltrated by people who have little to no actual talent with regards to their respective genres, but that's just the way it goes.... If there were no filler in Hip-Hop, THEN you might start to wonder about us... like, "can Hip-Hop survive?" type shit.....
and then, based on your quotation, How do you know who's a fan, an artist or a "Wannabe" Artist?
Are you suppose to be the judge of all this and we are all suppose to enforce your judgement?????
Are we suppose to call you before we buy a CD from an unknown artist to make sure it's ok????
Oh Please Obi Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope!!!! LMAO fuck that shit.....
THE TRUE POWER OF AN MC IS TO INSPIRE...... KRS, often puts his foot in his mouth with some of the things he says because he seems to forget.... SOMEONE INSPIRED HIM TO RAP, just like he has inspired Thousands if not millions of others to do the same.....The quote that you used, even though you took it out of context, was a bit hipocritical anyways.....

i made my fisrt demo tape in 95', way before this myspace shit was cracking (or the internet in general for that matter) & i did it for the same reason i do it now-i luv it, nuthing else. I have no illusions about getting signed or quiting my day job and becoming a millionaire....its fun for me, i enjoy it, and i personally think we aint half bad....i've had the opprtunity to rock shows wit sum of my favorite artists and build wit them about the culture, so that has really been enough for me, im content wit that....like i said before, i aint up in the forum spamming my shit all day, i put it out there for anyone who's interested and ask nuthin in return....i know there's a million heads out there trying to rap, especially nowadays, and its become oversaturated, but it boils down to what they do it for and where their heart is....just because so many heads are trying to make it & most of them are wack, doesnt mean it should keep people with a genuine luv for the culture from doing it too
