yeah great fight i thought, obviosuley roy jones isnt what he was but its all about the here and now and calzaghe knocked him all over. its funny how none of the yanks are talking about this. hopefully calazaghe gets the props he fully deserves and this win makes him a hall of famer no doubt.

Roy had the hand speed to win but he didn't throw enough punches, the last few rounds when Joe was taunting him I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't throw anything. Roy Jones' light has officially been turned off. I'm still not sold on Calzaghe being that dude though. I thought Hopkins beat him the first time and would beat him in a rematch

lets see what would happen if they were both 31- fuck gay ass calzaghe for fighting his last fight against 43 and 39 year old superstars and acting like that make him a legend when all his fight before that were in the gay ass uk or europe, 7 years ago bhop and RJJ woulda tore his ass to shreds

Joe fucked everyone up in super middleweight. he beat jeff lacy when jeff lacy was unstoppable. he beat Mikkel Kessler who was undefeated also.
i mean its cool if you dont like joe but he has nothing else to prove he has beat all the top notch fighters in super middle and light heavy
and Dawson hasent proven nothing yet? i think your even more retarded because he atleast has 3 top light heavy contenders/champions on his resume...

i mean Dawson still has a bright future with great fights still ahead of him but as far as Joe he has beat everyone already he should retire if not maybe have a fight with Dawson, Taylor or Pavlik

Hopkins is more of a counter puncher anyway. He lander cleaner shots on Calzaghe but you have to admit the shots Cal landed we're HELLA sloppy, he definitely had the numbers though. I agree with the rest of y'all, I say he should give Dawson a shot, you can't retire after beating an over the hill Roy Jones

yeah that was his style going into the fight. he really cleaned up on his sloppy shots against Roy Jones even though alot of punches were blocked when he was held up on the ropes

Yeah he was a total nobody when he beat the shit out of Lacy. i remember talking about it with my friends and we were like some fuckin no named Brit whooped lacy's ass. and this is in 06 when Lacy was runnin the game.
Then when i watched him beat the shit out of the contender dudes Sakio Bika and Peter Manfredo jr. i was convinced this dude could fuckin squab. then he proved he can box beating Kessler so i been a fan every since back then.
he is like the british mayweather in my opinion
i dont even like british fighters only him cus he whoops ass but to us in America he will always be a no named Brit

I think after Roy got knocked out the way he did against Tarver and Johnson he got gun shy about throwing more punches. The 3 wins he had before this fight were against has beens. I think Calzaghe was just busier and stayed right on Jones the whole night. And that cut he had was in a horrible spot on his eyelid. Time to hang it up.

Lacy was never THAT good to me either, the last time I remember him fighting was on Mayweathers undercard against Manfredo. He probably will stay a no named brit to me until he beats someone I feel is credible but I will give credit where credit is due in him still being undefeated

Did Calzaghe end three famous careers?
There is good chance that we saw the last of two legendary careers at Madison Square Garden shortly after midnight on Sunday morning. Joe Calzaghe seems determined to bow out on top, while Roy Jones Jr saw his career essentially end in a much more traditional way -taking a beating as he discovered his powers deserted him. Some compared Jones to the Muhammad Ali the lost to Larry Holmes in 1980, but I liked the line of Ron Borges, who said that Roy Jones Jr became Roy Jones Sr during the bout.
Jones, like Calzaghe, said he would not make a decision quickly about his future, but he has far fewer options than Joe. But those two might not be the only legendary careers finished. What now for Bernard Hopkins?
Hopkins had been hoping for a Jones win to set up a rematch 15 years after Jones won the original. On the back of beating Kelly Pavlik, Hopkins should be hot property, but Calzaghe has made it clear he is not interested in a rematch - Hopkins's constant fouling, holding, feigning injury and the lack of respect shown by the American after their bout in April are the reasons - while it is difficult to see a Jones bout being viable. So what is left for Hopkins, who does not fight for cheap... Chad Dawson?
But I was surprised to see William Hill quote odds of 4-11 that Calzaghe would box on and 2-1 that he would not box in 2009. Ladbrokes offer 7-4 that his next opponent is Jones- weren't they watching? Personally, I believe he will retire.
Mikkel Kessler was also ringside with Mogens Palle, his promoter, hoping for the chance of a rematch with Calzaghe. Kessler said he wanted the bout to be a super-middleweight, Palle said he was happy for the bout to be in Cardiff at light-heavyweight.
Calzaghe had another idea. "Why don't you fight Hopkins?" he told Kessler. "That's a great fight. I'll promote it and stay outside the ring."
