amazing shit, i personally like his 'dylanish' shit more than with the whole band, even though i do like those as well, but i feel like his voice gets drowned out and the 'message' is musicaly overwhelmed.

I think it depends on the message. Obviously Nebraska's message would have been ruined with full band arrangements, but songs written and recorded in the same sessions that ended up on Born in the USA would have been completely different songs with completely different done in acoustic form. Atlantic City is a great song electric (both then and now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHvH418z6iI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBC3t71JlC4 ) but I always liked the acoustic better.
Born in the USA the song was as much about blind patriotism and foolish jingoism as it was about the treatment of Vietnam vets. The original acoustic version, though still amazing can't grasp all of the meanings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL2qifufw4E
And I can't imagine the trilogy (BTR, Darkness, and River) done with out the band. The music told as much of the story as the lyric. How do you do Jungleland with out the sax solo?
Your opinion is just. I know many fans that prefer Nebraska, Joad, Devils Bruce, and sometimes I'll put away the full band stuff in favor of the acoustic and I like Nebraska better than a few of his full band albums. (not live though. I love the acoustic live stuff but I'd still take the worst Magic show over the best D and D show).
