Looking back on this season its amazing to see how dominating Barry Bonds was this year, every night he was getting walked 3 or 4 times while getting 1 strike to hit all game and he always hit it out, I cant imagine a better offensive year.

With 232 Walks!!! How in the fuck does a human put up 45 Homers and 101 RBI's while walking 232 times, that is absolutely unreal.
His On Base Percentage was .609! That is honestly the sickest, thing I have ever seen, his Slugging % was .812! Insane.
There was a thread about this on espn.com and something I didn't know was in this year Bonds reached base 376 times while having 373 at bats LOL, the only time ever in Baseball history when a player has more bases reached then at bats, unreal. Also in this year Bonds had more Home Runs (45) then Strikeouts (41) :o :o
This has to be the best offensive season ever, we will never see another season as dominating as this ever, and for all the haters, what about all the pitchers using roids during these years and as the Mitchell report showed steroid use was RAMPANT during this era, All I'm saying is Bonds is on a other level, plain sick. I honestly don't think we will ever see another Baseball player as good ever, and how can this year he had in 2004 ever be topped?

he SHOULD HAVE 60 home runs that year but the ump ruled one as a ground rule double...but that set up the dramaic 1927 season when he did get 60

Btw...Ruth has the best offensive season by any player ever. So no...Bonds didn't have the best season ever.

And Hack already posted the greatest season ever, Ruth in 1921. If you are a baseball fan you need to read the year Babe Ruth hit 104 Home runs which also goes into great detail about the 21 season and pretty much explains why Ruth is the greatest to ever play the game. It also goes into detail about Ruth not facing African Americans, which he did but not in regulation games. It also has a story about in a barn storming game where Ruth went yard off Stachel Paige.

I've had this argument before, and yes while the calibre of baseball has grown over the years based on simple evolution there still are many factors that make the 1920s game very hard to hit the ball well;
1) Half the teams means double the aces on each team
2) No other sports to get into means all the kids that would probably get into Quarterbacking got into pitching instead, making the competition greater and making the finished product strong
3) Spit balls, and whatever the fuck else you could use to make that ball slide, were allowed back then
4) The balls and bats are better now
5) Contrary to popular myth, the human arm has not evolved in the last 100 years. Walter johnson could throw that ball over 100 mph back then and he wasn't above and beyond all other pitchers
7) Fields have been shrinking over the years to make HRs more common. Yankee stadium was once like 490 down the center.
6) Yeah I know, there were no black pitchers for Babe Ruth to hit against, but how many black pitchers did Bonds hit against really?
Anyway, you factor everything in and I'll bet a .250 15 HR guy now would be a .250 15 HR guy in the 20s.

What gets me hot is the fact that NATURALLY, Barry Bonds was a gifted athlete who should have been battling for batting average year after year, but instead got greedy and wanted to go down in history as the best ever. Funny how shit comes back to bite a nigga in the ass.
