A California coroner has confirmed Dr. Dre's son, Andre Young, Jr. passed away last summer over a drug overdose.
According to People, the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said the 20 year-old died after using heroin and morphine.
"This case has been closed," coroner spokesman Larry Dietz told People. "It's been ruled an accident due to morphine and heroin intoxication."
While early reports suggested an overdose, an official confirmation had been pending for nearly four months.
As previously reported by SOHH, Young Jr. was discovered motionless by his mother, Jenita Porter, August 23 in their Woodland Hills, California residence.
In related news, Interscope head Jimmy Iovine recently promised the release of Dre's long-delayed Detox album this year.
"Dre's going back [to the studio] in January," Iovine told Billboard. "He'll be finished with Eminem by then, and he'll finish his album."
As of now, no release date information for Detox has been released by Interscope/Aftermath.

Drugs have never been known to discriminate especially against the young. I know quite a few cats to die of heroin that were barely in their 20's.

I guess Dre spoiled his son like a fukin suburb white boys. He had so much oppertunity to work in music industry just for being an Dr. Dre son.

Typical comment from someone looking at the problem from the outside. He must have done drugs because his dad spoiled him? Because obviously poor people don't use drugs, right?
More importantly, what opportunity to work in the music industry should keep him from doing drugs? If he's already got money and he's not specifically passionate about music, how is this an opportunity at all? At twenty years old, who can really say what his life would have been. It's ridiculous for anyone to come to these conclusions because you haven't got any idea about the person you're taking about outside of who his father is so it's all just ignorant speculation.

Well Em got the rich money and still used loads of drugs so I wouldn't say it's so different with the money if your head is fucked up or you are addicted. Besides, isn't the music industry the place for drugs anyways?

In their 20s isn't shocking.I know a few people that did in when they were 13 and 14.a female friend of mine was addicted to coke at the age of 12.

That's what I'm saying! Drugs and alcohol abuse don't discriminate. It's just as many rich folks and young kids with problems so they are looking for that quick solution. It's the big misconception that if someone has money or fame that they are automatically happy or that their misfortune can be solved easier. All that means is that they have easier access to a lot better drugs.

damn shame, but was this one Dre's kids that he actually kept in contact with?
