Post by: Escrooge on January 09, 2009, 06:31:49 AM
Remember a while back the doctor was saying the had this new thing going with the drums that was amazing, I've heard crack a bottle and get it in and haven't heard anything different. Don't get me wrong, Dre kicks always knock, I wonder is he saving them new methods for detox. 1

Yeah  them live drums, fam. I don't know, maybe expectations our to high for detox. Me personally I expect it to be the greatest record of all time, the hiphop version of thriller. Dre's sound has evolved, so I guess we'll see this nov or dec, cause thats when I estimate it will drop, it can wait no longer.

oh yeah, the expectation level is unrealistic, but that doesn't mean we won't be able to like Detox  ;)
Dre should make some statements via the media again; not that he should fight the negativity, but just for us fans, to clear up a couple of things  ;)

his birthday is on the 18th of February, so perhaps he should do it on that day  :)

there are a lot of dre tracks moving toward a new drum style. if you want the BEST ones listen to 'outta control rmx' but also 50's 'get up' which probably is probably the most developed version of the new, crisp drum effects. crack a bottle is the most 'live' sounding though, althought i don't think that's such a good thing.

but yeah, 'get up' is a banger its got a whole seperate rhythm going on in it just from the way the live drum sounds hit 8)

Real talk. Detox will flop big time, and only dick-riding groupies will say they like it.

Its gotta be.  Storch would do well to get back with Dre.  Storch always had some fire beats, but when they weren't mixed by Dre the drums sounded pathetic.

Not that every beat has been over formulaic, but I've noticed a trend of a lot more verb for live sounding snares and kicks layered with more than one sound clip. It's cool, it follows the evolution of hip hop in his own style. we'll see how they play out on the album, whenever that may come out.
