The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they acquired guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for center DeSagana Diop. “We are excited to add two young talents in Matt and Ryan to our roster,” said General Manager/President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson. “Over the course of his career, Matt Carroll has one of the best 3-point shooters in the league. Ryan is a versatile athletic center with a good up-side.” “We want to thank Sagana,” said Nelson. “He is hands down one of the classiest people I have ever known. His contributions both on and off the court will certainly be missed. The Mavericks’ family wishes him nothing but the very best.”
dallas are making some dumb moves lately

Dirk needs to get out of there in 2010. But I don't think he will, he's too loyal, Cuban is probably his best American friend.
Anyways, this trade is not significant. Carroll doesn't mean much, but neither does Diop. At least Carroll can knock down an open 3 here and there, Diop can't do anything offensively. When you have a team on which only 3 people can score baskets, while 1 of them is injured half of the season, this move ain't that dumb.

^^ yeah they need offence but you dont make traded for the sake of making trades, dallas could of got something better tha this especialy in a package deal, teams need the likes of diop off the bench, shooters are a dime a dozen in the nba

not a bad trade for the Mavs...Hollins is underrated as a back-up in the post. I honestly think he's better than Diop, straight up.
