Title: If Only Ya Boy Was On Aftermath...
Post by: six 1 nine on January 24, 2009, 11:06:35 AM
after listening to the kush damn could u imagine ya boy's album produced by the doc? someone please holla at dre and tell em to replace bishop with yb as much as people try to say how nice lamont is on the mic to date he doesnt have 1 west coast banger under his belt i think if yb was on aftermath he wouldnt need detox to jump start and hype up his debut i think he would be good on his own like em, 50, game etc...

Ya, but at the same time I dont wanna wait that long for YB's album to drop. He don't need the Doc. I would like to see them do some songs together tho.

LOL, the reason Bishop Lamont doesn't have a banger is because of Aftermath...

if Ya Boy was on Aftermath, he'd never get to release anything and he wouldn't be gettin out like he is....

Y'all be on Dre's jock like he's Hitler and you're a German ready to join the Nazi regime....

Grow a set, and think outside th box.....

ya boy is sick 8) and he's got a lot of commercial appeal too. about him being on aftermath - be glad he isn't. hopefully he can still holler at the doc for a couple of beats for the LP though.

i wasn't really feeling stat quo when he was on aftermath but as soon as he left and starting putting out some stuff on his own i started to get into him a lot more. its cool to be on a big label IF you have guarantees about a timescale they are gonna put you out. with bishop lamont he's been allowed to create a lot hype for himself which is good. its kinda backfired since he's lost all the momentum he had going when grow up got killed off and the reformation was pushed back into oblivion.

if you generate enough buzz the doc will put u out but if people are sleeping on you then it seems like dre doesnt want to take a chance and lose money so he lets you go or puts you on the shelf but ya boy's buzz is crazy right now on both coast he gets love...

yeah I dont know IMO stats first traxx are better but thats jus me

but on the real:
bishop aint dumb, he isnt waitin for dre or noone
hes been puttin out heat on his own!!!

but IMO ya boy isnt a crazy lyrical typa rapper like (royce/canibus)
hes more of a commercial typa rapper with a street appeal.
therefore the big dogs wont be able to market that
unless he sells out
gets a t-pain hook
gets a akon hook
or ray j on a song

IMO your style is what you make of it and how you rap.  I dont think you can change that (unless your born again)

I don't see the big deal about Ya Boy, I think Bishop Lamont is miles better..

Maybe I've just heard the wrong Ya Boy tracks, none of them really impressed me.

Ya Boy is dope but he's a punchline rapper like Banks and Fab, which means it won't be long before he starts recycling his shit and run out of things to say. Bishop has quality lyrics and subject matter but his delivery is questionable several times. IMO Crooked I is definetly the best "new" West rapper.

i think ya boy is more about the 'swag' factor. not that i buy into that but he's got more wit and concepts than most the rappers with simple lyrics. i guess you either dig the vibe or you dont. i can understand why people might not be feeling him so much.

id like to see ya boy on a major . . . PERIOD.  As an artist he has all the essentials a label is looking for in an artist.  I dont think he needs aftermath or dre to be successful.  If he could just get on a major and have a label promote and push him right he'd b straight.  look at jay rock.  his single has been on constant play on radio for a minute now.

Bishop has quality lyrics but no delivery.  That's the thing that bugs me about him.  I can't get into any of his songs.  Ya Boy is overall better than him.  Crooked is a little better than Bishop but is inconsistent with his delivery, in my opinion.

real talk. a lot of times bishop drops nice lyrics and gets really good beats but the lack of delivery & swag just take away any reply value only tracks that were worthy of me burning onto a cd were "feel on it" and "city lights" the production is crazy on those... as for crooked of course hes one of the best but that dude just can catch a break same goes for jayo felony talent being wasted by not dropping lp's...

If Ya Boy was on Aftermath we would end up like the rest of them dudes signing a deal with that label.. He would prolly record a 1000 songs in 3-4 years, release ONE official single from his "upcoming Aftermath album" and then getting dropped.

Signing to Aftermath is the worst choice for an up & coming artist for the simple fact that they will never come up under that label..

he wouldnt have an album out and probably would sit there for another 2yrs until he was dropped...
