Born in Los Angeles and started singing at the age of 12 with a Gospel group in church; where she spent most of her time. Later when she got older she started singing back ground vocals for Barbara Streisand, Michael Jackson and Brandy just to name an amazing few, but her thirst to be a solo artist was not quenched until she and Alonzo Jackson were reacquainted. They met years before, but the stars were aligned the second time around when he was impressed by her growth as a writer and artist, so he invited her to come and write at a session with his then boss Dr. Dre.

That one session turned into Nikki signing with Dr. Dre’s publishing company “Hard Working Black Folks” and Nikki has had her chance to shine, co-writing “Fire” on 50 Cent’s last album(50 Cent Feat. Nicole Scherzinger) and writing and or singing LEAD and background vocals for Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Stat Quo, Bishop Lamont, Raphael Saadiq, God Body, Ginuwine, and countless others. Most recently Nikki's song "Touch Me" was featured in the film "Not Easily Broken".

Dubcnn has a smooth Dr Dre produced track below for you to check out:

Meh, Dr. Dre has never been the best R&B producer. This is mediocre.

i agree this isn't amazing, definitely a rushed/leftover beat. dre has done better tracks with this kind of vibe but the vocal performance from nikki grier is very nice. similar stuff that might be of interest to people:

"Any Day Now" has a nice beat. Typical deep piano n tight drums by Dre. For some reason it reminded me of that Sunshine Anderson joint that came out a while ago, i dont know why. But its a cool song. I dont think its mixed either. Doesnt sound as "crisp" as it should.
yep, that's what we love Dre for  8)
anyway, Nikki's performance is awesome  :)

Listening back to the track, i can recognize a few melodies, that guitar sounds almost identicall to the ones played on "Boss Life"
interesting, i didn't catch that ;)
perhaps it's because the beat got overshadowed by Nikki's vocals several times

yeah with the strings it all works nicely. not like those chords on that new 50 record that are completely out of place with the vocal track. dunno if anyone noticed that the low drum on here is definitely part of dre's most recent drum sets as in it is the sound of a real live bass drum. this live bass drum sound can be best heard on that 'crack a bottle' beat and bishop's 'grow up' too. there is a distinct 'rubbery' quality to the way it sounds/hits/vibrates that you'd get from an actual bass drum pedal connecting.

Isn't it amazing how a black female vocalist from LA can sound nothing like a white female pop singer from London?

nice song. Reminds me of Mary J Blige a lot! The dark chords matches the dark theme to the lyrics imo. Not a banger but i was listening to her singing more than anything.
