Just do it this show is funny as fuck. I listen every week.
But I'm at 1:04:30 right now and I believe Quik is on after this commercial break.
-
92:50 it begins
-
At 1:30:somethin - Quik just grabbed the mic...
-
"Hey Playa" is at 1.40, it's pretty nice but nothing special.
"What You Really Wanna Do" is at the very end of the show, not really a good track.

props for the heads up!
sample in 'Hey Playa' is weird and unique lol. Didn't expect this at all. Dunno what I feel about it lol. It's different. Hopefully I end up lovin' it.
'What U Wanna Do has an annoying element in the beat. Not really feeling it.
-
I promised myself not to listen to this type of stuff ;D

maybe your hyping this too much. I'm not too blown away with these cuts. I'd peep it if I was you out of concern lol.
-
shit they never get him to finish a sentence without pokin at something he says
I agree about the What You Really Wanna Do not bein that great, he should cut that one.
Hey Playa on the other hand was pretty good.
Is it just me, or did all the non-Quik/Kurupt songs they played all use the autotune? :D
-
lol i think so, everytime i skipped the show i heard some parts of dudes rapping with autotunes. :P

so your anticipation has lead to a slight disappointment?
hence i said, don't believe the hype ;)
-
Those will sound good in CDQ, I'm sure...at least they can't do worse than Fixxers so everything is better than that. :)

-
Wow....don't wanna give a full opinion until CDQ leaks, but Hey Playa could be bangin on the big speakers. 8)
Don't know about the other just yet, a little awkward sounding but again it'll be better in CDQ.
At least it's not Autotune/Fixxers music...

i hope so.
-
yeah now im hyped for this album, i like how they seem to do something different and yet not that sell out bullshit
-
hey playa is dope
dont like the other one :-\
-
second joint was kinda terrible on some fixxers shit. first one was cool though, ridicolous drums and bass. wasn't too impressed by kurupt or quik on either though - hopefully there is much better stuff on the cd.

Both sound promising imo
Especially Hey Playa, that beat sound awsome, love the sample

Yup the sample is cleared and everything, quik got the ok from the travel channel and Andrew Zimern himself..
Here's what he said bout the sample..
Hey Playa
By andrew.zimmern on Thu, 01/22/2009 - 13:01 | andrew.zimmern's blog
Travel Channel called me last week to say that DJ Quick, yes THE one and only O.G. DJ Quick is sampling my dialogue from the Morocco episode to open his new single Hey Playa’….that is ridiculously cool…now if I can only figure out a way to get myself in the video…
and heres the link for the source..

Damn those "interviewers" were fucking annoying, wouldn't let him fucking talk
-

The Fixxers sounded better than this shit. Both songs sounds like Fixxers vibe + tropical beats.
-
Quik tried to be professional and serious on that interview...and them mothafuckers made him look like a nobody..like what was the song u did jay z ??...do u really play any instruments ???...what was the name of your first album ??

Okay? You do realize that Quik isn't exactly a household name, people don't know everything about him. Its been like 7 years since he's had anything mainstream.
-
indeed i doubt that many people outside this forum could name the track that quik produced for jay-z off the top of their heads...

It's a shame that track one of Quik's worst; probably the weakest track on the Black Album.
-
Quik did (without checking) Justify My Thug, right?
-
yeah. i wouldn't say thats one of the weaker tracks on the black album though. i really like it, different kind of sound for quik and flipped the sample nicely.
-
The hook ruined it; I would've preferred to see Jigga rip the 'California' beat from Trauma - that was originally submitted for the Black Album.

true...but why interview the mutha fucka then? but more power to em if they dont want to be taken seriously and come off as a lame

They did him a favor by giving him the interview and giving him a chance to promote his projects. Geez no wonder people still hate the West Coast.
-
Yeah people need to realize that in 09 the name Dj Quik doesnt ring a bell in the meanstream, and im pretty sure that in the future (late 2009-2010) he will be more known as Snoops In-house producer, than a Legend, look are they are Treating Teddy Riley

oh, was it ? didn't know that. i luv that trauma lp.
-
all im sayin is...if it was me on the radio, i would actually care if people thought i knew what the fuck i was talkin about. is it that hard to google a muh fucker? i dont know shit about Ne-Yo for example but if i was interviewing him as part of my job id at least half-ass research the cat.

Damnnn, feeling kinda dissapointed after hearing these tracks, can't really judge til I hear them in CDQ, Kurupts verse on "Hey Playa" is kinda :-\
-
Oh believe me, Quik & G-1 Came with it..
and if you didnt think much of kurupt's flow here, c'mon it's a chill beat..
just wait till you hear it all together.. kurupt was spittin lava!
Blaqkout is gonna be amazing.. i still cant wait to hear the final result's.. Damnnn, feeling kinda dissapointed after hearing these tracks, can't really judge til I hear them in CDQ, Kurupts verse on "Hey Playa" is kinda :-\
-
I was skeptical when I heard of this Blaqout project the first time but after hearing these two songs, my stance remains unchangeable. :P
-
Trying not to set my expectations to high as i fear it wil be an album with no substance. Hopefully i will be wrong.
-
oh FUCK I need to roll with that hey playa joint in the whip RIGHT NOW!!
CDQ ASAP PLZZZZ
-
damn sounds aite
