Title: BALLANCE & OPTINONS appreciation thread
Post by: Philip1123 on February 06, 2009, 08:28:36 AM
I just listened to "Ballance and Options" the last few days after a couple of years without listening to it, and my opinion is this - when people talk about Quik's best albums, they'll always bring up "Safe and Sound" and "Rhythmalism" or "Quik is the name" as his best album. But after revisiting the album again, I think it's on the same level as those names, if not even better. I just cannot understand how it was so overlooked. It's just like a part 2 of Rhtymalism. The production is flawless, the beats are just a masterpiece. Quik's rapping is awesome, and all of the guest rappers do a tremendous job. We also got a few instrumantal tracks, and to sum it all up - this album is a classic, hands down.
Does anyone else share my opinion?...

Its mindblowing how anyone would appreciate this album any less than Rhythmalism and Safe & Sound. Its crazy how anybody would clasify this as anything less than some brilliant, well put together ass music.

The album sucks. How can you even like DJ Quik?

Haha, when you learn to appreciate good music, then feel free to come though and jot some notes down, youngster.

B&O is such a dope record. It always baffles me when i think that Quik said he hates the album - i remember the XXL interview he said that in and eluded to the fact it was cause of the subliminals etc on there

I think he hated not the way it sounded, but because of the trouble he had with the label (arista) at that time. They did nothing to push this album, and I always felt that it could get some comercial success, with quite a few songs there...

By the way, I always wondered, was that "You Ain't Fresh" song directed at Dr. Dre (too many things match - the ghost producing, the gay stuff...).? Does anyone know?....
