How the fuck can you win a dunk contest when you have to rely on jumping off someone else back to get to the rim! that was pathetic, they should have given him a DQ for pulling that shit and the judges are throwing up 8's and 9's. He might aswell have put a table under the basket and jumped off it.
Im tired of seeing Nate Robinson in every dunk contest doing the same fucking dunks every year. Rudy Fernandez got punked by the judges, he was the only person who did new dunks and IMO had the best dunks of the night. They were just giving points to DH just because, thats fucking bullshit.
The 3 point shootout sucked, boring as fuck. That had to be the lowest scoring 3 point shootout EVER.
Next year, they better bring in guys like LeBron, Wade, Vince, Kobe and some more top tier players. This is getting rediculous.
WOW, theres my rant, what do u guys think?
-
I liked the Robinson "off the back" dunk. no offense but u cant be serious about the "when you have to rely on jumping off someone else back to get to the rim!" clearly he didnt HAVE to since he jumped over DH later :o
I wasn't excited to see Nate for a third time but his dunk over DH was beyond NUTS...I agree Rudy Fernandez got punked though.
3Pt shootout was terrible, such low scores.
-
Rudy couldn't be bothered to nail the dunk during the time given to him so fuck him.

droses throw down in the skills challenge was nasty.

Well Lebron said he's considering entering the Dunk Contest next year...lets see what happens.

that would be so sick. every player "like him" (MJ, Kobe, VC, etc.) won 1 so he has 2 as well :P surprised it took him this long to think about entering..
-
I wanna see a Rookies vs Legends game... ;)

nate robinson in 06. And Rudy would have done that shit way sooner if Pau bothered to toss the ball to the right spot.
-
rudy had to get pau to pass cus that was prob the only person that knew who he was or could understand him.

or he coulda had Sergio Rodriguez pass the ball for him (one of the few things he actually does well). I think he used Pau though because Pau is more of a star in both America and internationally (Plus Pau was actually there).
-
Just proves that the dunk contest need's TRUE star power..
LeBron... [That's your cue] (Everyone you want to be like already entered & won.)
-
He might aswell have put a table under the basket and jumped off it.
That line had me rollin! Coming up next year....the table dunk!

after watching the all star game, I'm convinced that anything that could be rigged was. The dunk contest was a joke. Stern wanted the David and Goliath matchup from the start, that much was obvious. Then the corny ass Kobe n Shaq reunion leading to both of them winning co mvps. The whole shit was just like a weekend long contrived photo op. David Stern needs to go away with his nostalgic ass.
-
the big time players don't want to do the Dunk Contest because it's too risky
you think LeBron, in his contract year next year
with over $100 million dollars on the line, is going to do crazy dunks and maybe risk a career ending injury
the owners most definitely don't want them doing that... you think Jerry Buss wants to see Kobe get hurt in the Dunk Contest? it's curtains
.... and yes I agree the All-Star Weekend is bullshit and a waste of time
it hasn't been cool in like 10 years.... they should just select the players as All-Stars, fuck playing the game, risking more injuries
the Pro Bowl, MLB All-Star... I know it's for the fans, but enough already... select the guys, cut them a bonus check and let's get on this the season
I hate watching games that don't matter, what the fuck!

I think the dunk contest was decent...the judges were stupid, but Nate deserved to win it with those dunks. As for Kobe and Shaq winning co-MVP, muufuckaz was ballin!

But the dunks he did in the first round shouldn't have gotten him to the finals. That shit was rigged. Nevermind that reggie miller and kenny smith outright disrespected Rudy Fernandez, Fernando Martin and Spain as a whole. I thought Kobe shoulda got the MVP alone. Shaq was fun to watch and all but if you're talking about MVP, it was easily Kobe. The whole all star weekend was way too big on pageantry and not big enough on substance.

I liked Nates dunks better than Rudy's in the first round...Rudy's first dunk was plain, and his 2nd dunk took way too long to complete. Also, fuck blaming Gasol, his first few passes were on point, behind the back or not. as for Kobe-Shaq winning co-MVP, Shaq deserved it as much as Kobe...he woulda' had 25+ points had he played the 4 quarter and he also had the best move of the game...it woulda been rigged if he wasn't ballin and still got it, but Kobe and Shaq owned that game...PeACe

LOL Rudy's first dunk was nowhere near as plain as Nate's 2nd one. As far as the co mvp thing, well who knows what would have happened if Shaq played in the 4th, but his performance was not an MVP level performance imo. You could tell Stern just loved the theme of Kobe and Shaq coming together again. I mean all star mvp is really inconsequential, I just don't care for the corniness Stern is injecting into the festivities. Its painfully obvious to me that he is making certain things happen for cosmetic purposes (david vs goliath in the dunk contest, shaq n kobe reunited).

Nate's first two dunks were more impressive than Rudy's, that's all there is to it...you're only upset cuz Rudy is a Blazer, get over it. And I dunno if you watched the game, but Shaq was the one who put the west over the top in the 3rd quarter...I wouldn't really shoot that down as "not an MVP level perfomance", but it's whatever.

Well, of course I was pulling for Rudy because he was a Blazer, but I honestly feel that the dunk contest was horribly judged. Even the sports reporters on the news out here said Rudy was robbed (i dont live in oregon). Nate's shit looks cool cause he jumps real high, but its a dunk contest, not a jumping contest. Rudy imo honestly had the most creative dunks of the first round and he ended up with the lowest marks. Smith and Rudy didn't stand a chance though because stern needed his david and goliath match up.

well this is fine. thats your opinion. but it was plain to see that no matter who did what, it was going to be nate and dwight. Thats what irks me more than anything. Why even have the "contest?" Just call it the Nate Robinson Slam Dunk Showcase or something but dont insult your audience's intelligence by acting as if it wasn't decided before it even happened. And I don't know if you paid attention, but there was a blatant disrespect for Rudy and Spain as a whole that was just plain embarrassing.

but yea, I don't think this is a case where you can clearly say it was rigged...had Nate's dunks been whack, then yea, you can say it, but shit was close. you can't really call it a fixed result based on what we saw.

i saw nate robinson do a regular ass dunk and advance to the finals, mind you he immediately left to change into his "kryponite" jersey because he already knew he was going to the finals. This is to say nothing of the fact that the announcers immediately knew the green was supposed to represent kryptonite to Dwight's Superman, whereas everybody else said, "ok, so he's wearing green now."
-
^it was pretty obvious right off that bat why he was wearing green and had a green ball with green shoes...LOL. some people are amazingly slow. but yea, he ran into the locker room right away to change because he knew that he'd only lose if Dwight would get a score in the 30s, which wasnt gunna happen. remember, son, you were the one who tried to mock me for my claims that the refs have held a bias against Kobe...these conspiracy theories you're comin up with sound about 20x more ridiculous...calm down...PeACe

lol, I'm sorry but saying the dunk contest was rigged and saying all star weekend is high on pageantry and low on substance is a much more realistic and reasonable assertion than saying there is some league wide conspiracy against Kobe Bryant. All Star weekend likely IS rigged in some respects, but its inconsequential because none of that shit actually matters. You act as though the nba somehow would benefit from conspiring against its biggest star in the 2nd biggest market. That, good sir, makes no god damn sense. But then again you think EVERYONE is out to get Kobe, so whatever.

yea...saying that the refs and the league don't respect Kobe (especially in the darker days) is way more ridiculous than claiming that all the players are in on rigging this competition, along with the announcers, and everyone else involved. LMAO. you are such a dumbass. i've explained it many times, ya fuckin idiot. Kobe is downplayed and LeBron/Dwight/the next hot star/etc. are overhyped so that the league can cash in on many superstars, as opposed to just 1 who's clearly above the restl...the NBA loves fabricating matchups like Kobe vs. LeBron, Kobe vs. Wade, etc. etc, when in reality, Kobe is clearly a level above anyone in the league right now....i know you're not sharp enough to get that, though, so suck a fatty...PeACe
