Title: Statik Selektah - Stick 2 the Script >>> your life
Post by: Lord Funk on February 18, 2009, 08:37:39 AM
I mean, wow.

I'm not sure how much alcohol your mother would have had to drink while pregnant to leave you fucked up enough not to feel this album. But if you don't have this in regular rotation, you might want to get yourself checked out, because you could be what some people call 'mentally retarded'.

I know an album is the shit not just by whether I love it when listening to it, but when it's the music I return to if I can't decide what else I want to hear. This has been that album for me since it dropped. I can be skipping around tracks on my mp3 playyer, with nothing really appealing to me, and it'll just hit me - Statik's LP. There's literally not one track I need to skip there - even the Mad Rapper skit is funny. The beats are constantly, consistently crisp, clever and banging, the perfect mix of old-school sensibilities and moden production techniques. And the calibre of emceeing, from Ortiz to Reggie to CL Smooth to Reks (Jesus Christ, Reks is a beast on the mic) is impeccible. And I can't even spell that motherfucker. (Impecable? Whatever.)

Dude's LP with Saigon shoud be incredible. Saigon's verse on 'To The Top' from 'Stick 2 The Script' >>> ice cold beer on a hot day.

I'm not kidding when I say that the so-called 'superproducers' need to step their game up. If you told me I could hear an album with beats entirely produced by Statik, Dr Dre or even DJ Quik right now, I'd be going with the dude from Boston.

  I agree with you, this album is at least top 3 of 2008. Also the new Saigon track is the shit.

Incredible. When the beat drops after that intro, it's over. I was playing it on the PC at the weekend when I downloaded it and I couldn't even get into the main part of the track because I kept taking it from the top to hear the drums kick in - I was literally yelling at my girl to come and hear it LOL.

I've only heard that new Saigon song which is awsome (dare I say better than anything that they did with Just Blaze?) and new Termanlogoy joint, which I wasn't impressed with production wise. Since you have a good taste, I'll check this out tonight and drop feedback.

That's not on the album though, that's a new track from the upcoming Saigon/Statik collabo album.
