The Regulator is on his way! Warren G is about to bless the rap game with new beats and rhymes in the next few weeks. You can expect "The G-Files Mixtape" which will serve as an appetizer, followed by the new studio album "The G-Files".
To give our visitors a little preview of what you can expect from The G-Child, Dubcnn linked up with him for an exclusive interview. The new album was originally scheduled to drop in October but has been suffering from delays. "We had just started with the first single and it was too close to the release date so we had to give it time to build." Warren said about the push backs.
We dig a little bit deeper into "The G-Files" and talk about various things surrounding the new project. Warren also gives us an update on Nate Dogg's condition and how he's doing. He then speaks his mind on G-Funk fans and their unconditional love for the golden era.
Exclusive Interview With Warren G
As ever, you can read and listen to this exclusive interview and we urge you to leave feedback on our forums or email them to liljay@dubcnn.com.

good read!
-
Will the mixtape be a download on dubcnn? I really hope that we will see another 213 record. The first 213 record is amazing. When that album came out everybody was unhappy over here. Maybe because Warren didn't produce any tracks. Just the remixes. I remember there was a petition out on the internet haha. I really liked that album! Thanks for the interview...
-
warren g a real dude. you never hear him doing some crazy shit to stay in the spotlight. this dude has attained a level of success that he's happy with and now he's chilling making music. and unlike these other rappers who get a bunch of hype and disappoint with their album, warren g just drops new stuff and lets it speak for itself.
-
Awesome news that if Nate comes right then another 213 is on the cards 8) Havent really been diggin his new stuff too much but hopefully he will bring it on a majority of the mix and album!
Cheers for the interview!
-
Warren G: I haven't got into it man, you get sidetracked you know. I started doing films and TV shows and stuff like that. But it's still coming buddy. I ain't going nowhere, I'ma drop a Greatest Hits and I got "The G-Files" that I'm working on right now which is off the chain. I got a single out right now with Ray J called "Crush", which is blowing up all over the airwaves. You know people are loving that. And I got the followup single that's coming up right behind and that's when I'ma really knock them upside their head.
I really wish rappers would stop hyping their shit up like this, I don't even think it has charted... Other than that, great interview.
to be fair with this, the interview was conducted a while ago and crush was probably more relevant on the airwaves back then...
-
dope shit. gonna read it now, and drop my feedback
-
cool, hopefully the new single will be better than the trash "singles" he's put out so far.
-
in tha midnite hour was to commercial, it was wack and gay-j is overhyped..and over used on singles
-
Good, i'll check this out in a minute.
-
dope interview, damn i hope we get to hear those unreleased traks and his g-files album soon
-

When Nate would be better hope dubcnn could reach him cause i've never seen an interview of him on tha dubcnn website..
Chuuuch
-
I hope Nate Dogg will recover soon. Another 213 album would be dope. (I guess Snoop ain't got the time to do it?).
-
good read!
-
Nice read, but Warren didn't say shit in the whole interview. I mean, I read the whole thing and don't know shit I didn't know before. No news, no plans, no announcements.
When is the album dropping? When is the mixtape dropping? Why a mixtape, all of a sudden, what's the point? We were all waiting for the album already.
I mean, I got nothing but love for dubcnn, Lil Jay and Warren, but come on...
-
Keep it coming
-
i wish warren wouldve said when the album is dropping.
hopefully the twinz will end up on warren's album.
thanks lil jay for the interview.
hopefully we can seea follow up interview sometime in the near future.....

there is no info about the mixtape in the interview because the mixtape was announced after the interview was conducted. (did that make sense? lol)
i guess he's dropping a mixtape because... well, i dont even know why to be honest!
-
Fa Sho about to read now!! 8)

Dubcnn: You used to hit up our forums on Dubcnn but we havent heard from you in a minute. You should check in sometimes!
Warren G: It's all good, I mean I like coming to the forums and checking you guys out. It's just sometimes the haters drive me away. Everybody on there show me a lot of love but then you got 2 or 3 muthafuckers who wanna run they mouth, so I just try not to listen to what they say. But it's all good, I mean I got alot of love for Dubcnn! What you guys are doing is a good thang man.
that's sad.

my thoughts exactly!
im glad im not the only one
and it wasnt the questions being asked - it was warrens responses.
he gave us nothing in that interview
-
^^^whats so sad about it
that Warren pays so much attention to negativity
-
Those who read it and haven't responded, make sure you post your feedback, good or bad!
-
Dont have time to read it but will def be getting the album.

that Warren pays so much attention to negativity
ya i know. you would think a guy like him would just ignore it. but what do you expect though. you got shit like crooked i albums being bootlegged and dudes saying fuck him and all this other negative stuff about him and all these rappers like shade sheist and others that visit the site. i dont think they wanna log on and read that stuff. i'm surprised the owner of the site lets this slide. i figured it would look bad.

yeah you'd expect that Warren G is used to it, since he's famous.
not saying it's easy

yup, comes with the territory i suppose

there's the plain haters, but then there's those who give positive criticism.
i hope warren doesnt put those in the same bunch. like for egsample,... i think that "she's got that ringtone" is a wack song, but that doesbnt mean that i hate all warren's music. why should i say that i like a particular song that i really dont. if everybody does that, then maybe warren'll make the album sound all like that.
we have to let warren know the direction warren should take with his music from the fans point of view. we have to tell it like it is, so warren can make better music.

Warren Needs to go back to the return of the regulator formula that shit was bangin just that the world wasnt ready for that shit
I agree dat cd was sick. i find that warren picks the wrong singles to release from his albums. but his last two cds were dope as fuck, if you actually go back and listen to them a few times ull realize that
-
Yeah i liked both warrens last albums, always a whack song or two but overal dope. Another 213 album would be awesome.

return of the regulator was good, but definately not his best work in my opinion.
warren's best album was ofcourse "regulate gfunk era" , but his "take a look over your shoulder (reality)" album was dope as fukk, and his 2nd best album.
warren had awesome songs on it . nearly the whole album was dope as fukk except, the weak "i shot the sherrif " song

here's the tracklisting
01. Intro
02. Annie Mae nice funky laid back song with dope ass vocals by nate dogg
03. Smokin' Me Out nice funky laid back song
04. Reverend Eazy Dick
05. Reality bangin laid back gfunk song.
06. Interlude
07. Young Fun bangin song with dope raps by warren & jayo-felony
08. What We Go Through bangin song with dope raps by warren, bad azz & mr malik a.k.a. hershy loc
09. We Brings Heat dope laid back gfunk song, with raps by warren, the twinz & da 5 footaz
10. Can You Feel It dope bangin ass gfunk beat with dope raps, and a dope hook by female vocals
11. Transformers dope laid back gfunk song
12. Reel Tight Intro
13. Relax Ya Mind dope laid back gfunk song.
14. To All D.J.'s dope song. this sample is used alot by other artists aswell.
15. Back Up tight productions by warren g, with k-9 & pc rapping over the beat.
16. What's Love Got To Do With It tight song
17. What's Love Got To Do With It (Remix) - dope ass remix
18. I Shot The Sheriff - weak song
19. I Shot The Sheriff (EPMD remix) - weak song remixed
i give this album an easy 9/10
i wish warren could make more albums with the same production style from that time.
it doesnt sound too old school like his first album (which was dope as fukk by the way), so it wont come off as too outdated to the mainstream, but it will be warren staying true to the gfunk sound.
-
^thats the only Warren-g album that i dont own. The two singles totally pity me off. i have since heard annie may an the track with bad azz, i liked those.
-

I never said that g-dubb's bests album was return of the regulator but i know that its more easy for him to duplicate that than g funk era
-
^^
yeh, i didnt mean to say you thought it was the best, but was just sayin its not his best work.
just speaking on a different note,.. if you listen to all warren g's albums, every one of them has a different style to the next album.
i think this g-files album will sound different from any of his other albums, but i'm happy with the sound he has done on his first 2 albums, and it would be dope if he stays with that formula, but i know thats not likely. but atleast you can be pretty sure that he'll have some good music on the album, even if there might be a few weak cuts like "crush" or "she got her own ringtone " (which hopefully wont end up on the album)
-
Warren said in a past interview talking about his website that he would eventually open his vault of 213's first tape.what's up with that project?
-
Good questions. The interview flowed nicely. You asked a lot of the questions I would have. Thanks. 8)

Dubcnn: Speaking of the Twinz and the G-Funk sound in general, I wanna get into something where I hope you can share your opinion because you're responsible for a lot of that music. Some of your fans and West Coast Rap fans in general are still stuck in that golden era. Do you feel where they are coming from or do you think it's time to move on and get with the times?
great question
