you´re missin "daz´z how im livin" by BG Knocc out.

Yella's cool. I always felt bad that they didn't hardly mention him when they were talking about doing the N.W.A. reunion. To me, that was a bigger slight against the authenticity of the original group than going ahead without Eazy. The Eazy-E thing couldn't be helped because he had passed away. So if they were going to do the project, they either had to get someone else to fill in, or just do it, minus one member. But in Yella's case, it seemed like they were keeping him out of the project for no reason. I remember back in like '99 when Dre, Cube, Ren, and Snoop were doing all the interviews for "Not These Niggaz Again," it seemed like the interviewers wouldn't even ask them if Yella was going to be involved with the project. They'd inevitably bring up Eazy, but poor Yella always got left out. I'd watch the shit and be like "WTF" they're not even mentioning dude.

I feel you, but at the same time what would the hell would he do? At that time Yella had quit producing and was making porno films. He never rapped with NWA, plus Dre had stepped his game up and was the far better producer. To me Yella was always the weakest link.

I think Yella's involvement would probably have had to be in a smaller capacity if he was included, but he probably could have handled some of the production. I know that now Dre is the bigger star, and they doubtlessly wanted him to handle most of it. But at the same time, it just seems like they should have had him involved. I know he's got the adult movie thing going and all, but I think he would have liked the opportunity to revisit his N.W.A. days once more. I remember him saying in an interview that he'd be happy to be involved in the reunion if they asked him.

Yeah. I think even that "Bangin' LA" track he produced for Ren a few years ago still had slammin' production. Actually the first time I heard that track, it made me realize how much I missed Yella's production. The first time I heard that, I thought "man, Yella's still got it."

you really think so?
I got much love for Yella, his solo album + Yomo & Maulkie is both dope.... but that track is ehhhhh :-X :-[
Yeah. To me it sounded reminiscent of the kind of production he'd put on an Eazy solo album. Don't get me wrong, I don't love every song Yella produced. I thought some of his work on the Menajatwah album sounded a little lackluster, but I would say I've liked way more of his production than I have disliked.

yomo and maulkie are the shit underated
maulkie went on to join the lench mob on they second album planet of the apes the album is okay not as good as the first one.

i didn't state that Yella can't produce ;)
it's just that NWA without Dre wouldn't be the same.
even if they didn't launch the project under that name.
that doesn't mean that an album with just Ice Cube, MC Ren & DJ Yella can't be dope, but it would be a huge mistake ( IMO) to exclude Dre.
listen to the Yomo and Maulkie album and then to Straight Outta Compton and you'll understand my point of view ;)
