b4 he dropped chronic 2001 everyone must have hated on him for taking so long for a second album and also on how he handled the aftermath album.then finally it came and it was banging, obv helping the westcoast getting more noticed.
now people focus on lil wayne, dirty south, eastcoast etc etc i feel once dr.dre gets the hot shit out there, it'l change and everyone will talk about dre and just blaze dre shit and put back the attention the westcoast needs.
what y'all think?
-
depends. 2001 was a huge album and had some major buzz about it. If Detox brings a whole new sound that people are feeling then it will def change the game. Whether it launches the careers of Bishop or Slim da mobster, or brings the west coast back as whole is still not certain. Imo the west coast needs to switch up its beats and lyrics to have any chance of regaining its dominance.

time will reveal.. wait and see..

whenever dre drops if he does drop, it's WESTCOAST TIME 2 SHINE Again

The west coast has failed. You are not commercial enough. Try doing the stanky leg in your music videos, might get more fans!

not necessarily. just gotta experiment. problem is half of this board wants their fav artist to drop a gfunk album and the other half wants somethin soundin like 2001.

I think Dre's in a very favorable position where if a songs leaked and ppl don't feel it they just say 'that ain't a dre production' and he can drop that song without ever commenting.
I think Dre can change the game but then i think so could Terrace Martin or Quik if they where givin the amount of exposure and the advertising budget that Dre comands. The only thing that i think separates them is the fact that Dre holds a sort of mystic aura where will will only really hear music and not much else such as interviews etc.
-
I don't think Detox is ever gonna come out. I think Dre is too afraid of Detox failing or not living up to the expectations and ruining his legacy. At the end of 2007 he said he was 2 or 3 songs away from finishing the album, a year and a half later and still nothing.

the only one that can change the game is MC Hammer. who else can dance and rap at the same time? Look out for his new album: Hamtox
lol you & mc hammer these days lol, why dont soulja boy and lil wayne switch side to the westcoast lol? kidn, they nevr can switch to the westcoast, they pussy.
i think he can man, if he drops an album right now with beats so amazing, out of this moon shit then str8 away attention will come back to the westcoast and he should help the younger cats too

Do You Think Dr.Dre Can Change The Game Within An Instant?
Just add water!
-
fuck dre and fuck detox. eminem's voice is getting more annoying and 50 cent aint that hot anymore dre done lost it fuck detox.
8)

Dr. Dre may not change the game (he didn't really on 2001, it wasn't anything "new" new, his sound was just new Dre). But I'm confident Dr. Dre will spark the change of the game and set a newer style/better production quality for niggaz to follow.

dr dre cant do shit
-
2001 didn't really bring the west coast back, it just brought Dre back. If the west wants to come back to the mainstream we gotta get off that gangsta shit. That shit ain't been mainstream since Pac died. And its getting old. Why would I wanna listen to the newest thug rap when Pac and Cube did it first and did it 10 times better? The new rappers need to reinvent the game and come with something new. I think Crooked is a sick ass lyricist but half the time he's on that boss shit.

well it won't slow global warming, decrease the gap between rich & poor, solve the financial crisis etc.
but when looking at his past album releases, there's no doubt that he will influence a lot of people again.
even before Detox, he has influenced a couple of producers with his current sound.
while knowing that Detox is such an anticipated album, it still surprises me how big the anticipation is in 2009.

Lol You are right

dr dre cant do shit
if dre learn to dance like mc hammer,he might...
he will sprain his back doing that lol
imo, the only one from the good old days that still is successful is Ice Cube, he always brings heat and still gets some commercial success now and then without making it 2 poppy.

Dre can sell a few million, but he's not going to change anything. The artists don't have any power, can't change shit.
-
Change the game, again! (He's already "Been There Done That")
That said, Dre defo has the power/status & ability to change an unknown/underground rapper's life
by simply throwing him/her a beat or even a lil' endorsement or a "shout" at the blink of an eye.
^^something as simple as that can move hip-hop mountains .^^
Why Dre don't do that? Ask Jimmy...
All it takes.
-
Dre is able to change the game at any given chance. he makes a huge impact.
if he decides to put people like 50, eminem, nas, mary j blige busta TI and lil wayne and couple west coast artist like bishop and who knows who else on detox, it won't bring back the west. one poster above said, the west needs to change its lyrics and beats. and people are too stuck on the g-funk era. that was in the early mid 90's get over it people. move on. its damn near 10-15 years later. music has to change sometime. i may not like it myself either, but its the way shit is. we all know how our parents felt like when the 50's and 60's came and gone. its the same way with us now. south side has been on top for too long now. i think east coast are starting to make a little more noise. but where are we? still in the past. the 90's. still talkin about a "say hi to the bad guy" album.
another thing that holds west music is all these stupid beefs. get over it. i like how game brings a couple of guys with him like glasses and nipsey to his shows. and shouting them out on the radio and pumpin them dudes up. i don't think i ever hear snoop do that or cube.
-
Dre is not able to change the game, he pretty lost the abilities to; even Eminem is 'dead', only 50 is up now....wait, oh no!
Makes me remind of the whole story behind G-funk sound, between Dre & Big Hutch, & I think today that's the truth. If u look at The Chronic & this story, it's obvious, & now, if u take a look at "2001", Mel-Man was on his side to build it.
Today, it seems a lot more difficult for Dre to make a classic.

Pretty much, It sound's stupid... But true.
One endorsement from Dre = about 4 albums worth of publicity for an unknown up & coming rapper.
