With new releases by Southern acts UGK and Flo Rida hitting the shelves last Tuesday (March 31), music industry resource HitsDailyDouble.com has posted their projections on each album’s first week sales.
According to the site, UGK 4 Life is on track to sell between 65,000 to 75,000 come Wedneday’s Nielsen SoundScan report. Featuring cameos from Snoop Dogg, 8Ball and MJG, Lil Boosie, Webbie, E-40, Too $hort, Akon and Ron Isley, among others, the CD will be both the group’s last effort as well as its first release since the passing of co-founding member Pimp C.
Flo Rida’s sophomore effort R.O.O.T.S. (Route Of Overcoming The Struggle), is pegged to rack up around 40,000 to 50,000 in sales. The Atlantic rapper has broken records with his first single from the project “Right Round,” which was downloaded 636,000 times in one week. The song surpassed the sales numbers for “Low” - his record breaking hit with T-Pain from last year, which moved 467,000 units.
HitsDailyDouble did not include a projection on Bow Wow’s new album, New Jack City II, which also dropped this week. – Elan Mancini
WOW! great news ;D 65-75K with little to NO radio/video play, wiping the floor with that crappy Flo-Rida album (which has a #1 cheesy ass single)

damn, for real? I knew it wouldn't do that BAD; I had faith in the UGK fan base. I figured 40-50K so even I low-balled them, which in reality, is a good thing to hear 8)

I'm just sayin it's tough times these days... especially in the industry
to be honest I don't think anything is predictable anymore
-
Well flo rida sells singles not albums.

Great stuff.

No doubt, he musta caked it off that Right Round single
-
This is great to hear. I will be buying this too.
-
Good to see people buying this album. Of course we could all get it for free, but the artists that put in work deserve some compensation. Thats what it's about. This album is worth every $ you pay.

Last I heard the song has gone double platinum

Flo Rida and Pit Bull are hip hops dopest party rappers.
-
good for ugk but this doesnt look good for other ringtone rappers. Maybe the sole aim of florida is to cake off singles but atm its not a good look.
-
His
last album sold about the same amount.most ringtone rappers don't move many units.that's why someone like lady ga ga can be heard everywhere but doesn't sell albums she sells singles.its a different market.its a damn shame kardinall go thrown into that though.dangerous was huge but the album flopped.people have caught on to the fact that a lot of artists have one or two good songs and an album full of filler.artists have nobody to blame for poor sales except themselves.

Preach. If artists made dope albums, people would cop them, they dont wanna hear a bunch of thrown together could be singles. Jada's gonna flop

i dont think thats true..pretty sure the last album went at least Gold, and with 50K first week, he doesnt stand a chance at gold.
-
The last album sold around 70 000 first week.so a little better but not much.

i´m kinda dissapointed with those numbers coz UGK deserves to sell way more then that. but i thought Flo Rida would do a lot bigger numbers, i don´t mind his music actually. he´s a pretty good party rapper, and he seems like a nice guy which is more then i can say for most of these homo thugs.

75k, that's about the same amount of individual buyers they attracted with the previous album, except that it was a double album thus the numbers were counted twice making it 156K. Fair numbers in my opinion.

i thought they stopped doing the counting a double disc album as 2 copies thing... Im sure i read that somewhere.

well they don´t count them as 2 units on soundscan but the RIAA counts them as 2 seperate units when they certify albums. so the units on soundscan is how many they have sold in the stores that´s counted by soundscan(soundscan don´t count most mom & pop stores and shit like that) and then the numbers are doubled by the RIAA.

i promise u if all the mom pop spots.and all the bazaars and flea markets submitted numbers..

yep, and it´s the same with a shitload of artists especially from Texas coz the the independet scene has been enormous down there. i remember when Restless dropped and several sites said that the album was pretty much sold out in every store in Texas but yet it only scanned like 20k the first week. but in reality it probably sold twice as much.
