I remember bumpin this back in '02 when it came out. I loved the single 'Keep It Gangsta', but to be quite honest I wasn't really feeling the rest of the album. I dug into my archives today and played it front to back. I must say I slept on this album. There are a couple shit tracks, and recycled verses, but all in all it is pretty dope. Definitely a different sound for Daz. The more I listen to this, the more I'm feelin it. Don't know why I didn't give it more of a chance originally.... Then again, I was only 16 back in 2002 ;D

i was lovin this when it came out
i remember a couple tracks toward the end i didnt like
-
"I Live Everyday Like I Could Die That Day" is a cool track...
Mike Dean & Daz made a good team...
one of the hidden tracks "Find a Moment" is the shit....
-
LMAO. I can't think of anything else than Carlton on the cover of this album, that prank pic is just too funny.
There is some good tracks, yes.
-
Yep, a pretty nice album.
This is one of those CDs that I'll probably never think 'Hey, I'd really like to hear that today,' but if I'm just flipping through the rack trying to find something for a sunny day, I could pull it out and let it play.
-
It's a decent album but it got some heat on it. Like you said, "Keep It Gangsta" is dope but the remix is even better ;D
The track with Too Short is also tight 8)
-
8) very underrated Daz effort.
(Daz & Mike Dean good combo)
-
Its a fucking awesome album. Most definately one of my favourite Daz albums. Great album.
-
number 3 on my fave Daz albums. Great album!
-
I used to bump this all the time, haven't put it in rotation in the longest time though, good thread, I'm bumping this today!
-
Whatever happened to the book and DVD that were supposed to come out after? I remember when this album came out, how much interest there actually was in DPG Recordz. There were lots of cool projects slated to drop but most never saw the light of day.
-
this album is a great album id take this joint over some newer cats joint surfacing right now ya dig?
-
Its a classic album to me !!!!!!
All tracks are dope as fuck !!!

yea for real a solid daz joint
-
Great album. Last one that Mike Dean worked on with Daz.
-
I think like a lot of his projects after he left Death Row, it contained a few bangers, but was rushed and incomplete. He should spend like 3 years on just one album and make classics
-
he probly cant stick 3 years with out a check.. i always thaught if he focused on his producing game he could be at the top end of production big time
-
one of the hidden tracks "Find a Moment" is the shit....

I've always been a Daz fan, even tough i was 16 too when it came out i loved this album, damn u made me want 2 bump this album again!
My favorites: Ain't That Somethin', Keep It Gansta, Load Up, Run Tha Street, We Do This Passion (classic), This Is The Life I Lead & that bonus track with Kurupt, DPG 4 Life..
Any infos about Crystal ? I know she was on "U Know What I'm Throwin' Up" album but other than that ...
-
"Run Tha Street" and "Keep It Gangsta" are my favourite tracks from this album.
-
it's funny how Daz really went downhill after this.
it's not that This Life i lead was super, but more that he fell of so hard after that
-
"this is the life i lead" was a dope ass album. real solid album. every track was atleast decent, so there was no filler tracks in my opinion, and then it had some real incredible tracks aswell.
i was turning 19 when this album came out, first year out of high school . i give this album 8/10

"DPGC: U Know What Im Throwin' Up" came out the next year, it's way more better then "This Is The Life I Lead". Never really liked this album except for a couple of tracks.

that's your opinion, not mine
-
I'm gonna take it a step further. This album is officially a classic in my book and is in my opinion Daz's best solo effort. I used to play that album like it was the only cd in my collection. Great album start to finish, bangin production, and he spit like he had somethin to prove. Obviously Kurupt was missing but I think thats what lit the fire under his ass (no homo).

I hope dean & Daz will work again in future

I hope dean & Daz will work again in future
I heard Daz owes him some money and that's the reason they ain't been workin together.

After this thread being dead for 2yrs, I just realized that this was the last album that Daz was somewhat in shape lmao.
-
Really good album. One of my fave Daz albums for sure.
-
I think the title track is the best song on the album. It is one of the last good albums daz released, DPGC was probably the last worth buying. After that he had problems to put atleast one good song on a full lenght album. I haven't bought an daz album since DPGC and before i bought all.
-

Does anyone have this prank pic of the cover with Carlton?
-
Run tha Street is my favorite of the album and likely daz's entire career..used to bump this one as crazy
