Kidd passes Magic for No. 3 on NBA assist list
Posted Apr 5 2009 4:52PM
DALLAS (AP) -- Jason Kidd has passed Magic Johnson for No. 3 on the NBA's career assist list.
With his 14th assist in Dallas on Sunday, Kidd hit 10,142 for his career. The milestone came on a dish to Josh Howard for an 18-footer with a minute left in the second quarter of a game against Phoenix.
He received a standing ovation when it was announced. Among those on their feet: broadcaster Mark Jackson, who is No. 2 on the list with 10,334. Kidd finished the first half with 16 assists, tying his season-best for a full game.
John Stockton is the record-holder with 15,806.
Obviously nowhere close to Magic in terms of skills but still an amazing accomplishment none the less. Congrats to Kidd.

I was watchin this game...the end of the 1st half was bananas...I think he had 16 assists in that half alone...
gotta give it up to J Kidd, he reminds me of Magic - not on the same level, but some of the passes he pulls out of his ass are :o :o :o...very humble dude too. Props to J Kidd

ya that was a great game for him, he had like 16 at the half i believe. But ya, congrats to Jkidd

At 9 apg, J Kidd is showing the modern generation how to be a great team general, something that's not seen often at the point. There are team players, and great guards, but none that are on the level JKidd is right now. Now, you have to remember, Magic to me as Kobe is to NIK... lol... so I just got to throw in, Magic got 11.2agp, and played less seasons that JKidd, so take passing Magic for what it is.... lol... And Stockton only got 10.5apg... lmao
But on the real, congrats to JKidd for a great career and carrying on great PG play for people today to see.

really pleased for j kidd. he truly is one of the all time great point guards. he played brilliantley in that game. he also shot the ball really well and a fact that has been brought to absolutley no ones attention is the fact he is averging the best assist to turnover ratio and 3pt percentgae of his career this year.

one of my all-time favorite players
