It's the second inning and the Royals are winning! Gordon hit one out! Mesh took the Sox down 1-2-3! This has to be a good omen for the season
-
your lucky the AL Central is wide open, maybe you can make a ridiculous push.
but i dont think they will reach the post season this year.

Yep... everyone has a chance in the Central. If the Royals were going to have a Cinderella season; now is their chance.
by the way, they are beating the Sox, it's in the 8th; if Royals can just get to the 9th inning then they can turn it over to Soria and it's lights out!

LOL, easier said than done.
Gil should have just pitched 8 & then gave the ball to Soria.
Royals lost this.

Our manager is an idiot. He always screws it up like this... He's the biggest obstacle in the Royals way this year. Dude needs to go back to Japan and manage there. He had 3 options on the table that would have been better...
-Leave Mesh In
-Bring Soria in one inning early (it's the first game of the year, it's not like his arm is tired)
-Bring in Jaun Cruz. He was supposed to be our #1 setup man for Soria.
...What the hell was Hillman thinking putting in Farnsworth? This guy is known for giving up late game homers. He's one of those all or nothing guys; homer or strikeout
-
^he knows if he wants the division he cant always rely on bringing in Soria in the 8th & he needs a solid bullpen contribution to win.
i am not big on Royals baseball so i dont know if Jaun Cruz should have came in or not; but i would have left Mesh in.
i am big on leaving starting pitching in late in the game if your not too confident in the pen.
like i said, you cant bring Soria in early, because on a regular basis that isnt going to happen, so i guess that was a good move.
i had to deal with Kyle last year, it wasnt fun; but it's only the first game, they looked impressive up to the 8th, so dont lose the faith.

I understand being a Royals fan.... just don't have ANY hope - ever
it will be easier on you.... and more fun if they actually start winning

F the royals

Juan Cruz came from the Dbacks. He was lights out last season but no one wanted ot sign him b/c he was a class A free agent so no one wanted to lose a first round draft pick by signing a set up man.

Yeah, word is the Royals are paying Farnsworth like 9 million and basically nobody really even wanted him. That's a pretty bad situation. We have other guys in the bullpen that are solid, like Cruz, Ron Mahay is a strong lefty could of done well against Thome. And I never understood the psychology behind a 9th inning closer. My thinking is that rather than just being so concerned about pitching him in the 9th inning that it would be wiser to pitch him in the instance when your team is most vulnerable and clinging to a 1 or 2 run lead.

This is usually my philosophy, and it works well. I just kind of pick a few players I like, like Mesh, Guillen, Soria, and then follow their progress; rather than focus on the team and wins/losses. I kind of started to buy into the hype about the Royals turning it around this year, but I should get over that pretty quick.

Exactly. So you know about Jaun Cruz, then you should understand how stupid it was for our manager to designate Farnsworth as our #1 set-up guy going into the season; just based on him having a few good outings at the end of spring training. Jaun Cruz should be our #1 set-up guy, his ERA is around 2 and Farnsworth is around 4 or 5 from last year; so clearly Cruz should be the guy.
This reminds me of watching Herm Edwards coaching the Kansas City Chiefs, when he did things like designating Brodie Croyle to be the Chiefs quarterback of the future.

The only thing I can think of is Juan Cruz signed pretty late in the off season so maybe Tillman doesn't feel comfortable putting him in that position just yet.

N Grienke better get his shit together b/c I have him on two of my fantasy teams lol.
-
I am hoping Grienke gets rocked tonight, the Sox hit him well. I put a unit on the Sox at -103.

Its actually the owner is the bigger idiot & the biggest obstacle in the Royals way every year, David Glass aka Mr. Walmart. Walmart owners are so cheap in sports. Until he dies or sell the team, people who are still Royals fans might as well get tapes or dvd's of the 80's Royals. Why do the teams in the midwest have such crappy owners in MLB? 1 of the reasons why MLB suck, cause the midwestern teams are not a factor, they have no chance. Mostly out of playoff contention by the end of week 1. Unlike the 80's.

St Louis Cardinals in 2006
Cleveland Indians were up 3-1 in the 07 ALCS and choked it away and they were a powerhouse in the mid to late 90's
Cubs have been the best team in the NL the past 2 seasons.
White Sox won the World Series in 2005
The Brewers won the Wild Card last season and choked away the wild card in 07
Do the Twins count as the mid west ? If so they are always contending
The Reds haven't done shit in a minute but they have bright future with the youth they have.
It's just the Royals that suck as a whole.

Your going to be happy Tom because Grienke got his shit together in a big way. He smoked the Whitesox tonight and made them look foolish at the plate. He was strikin out Thome, Dye, all their biggest hitters. He gave up zero runs.
Supposedly he was working on a couple pitches during spring training, but now he's back to what he does best.

You bet on the Sox tonight? What exactly was the bet? Your going to be disappointed. Royals win 2-0.
...by the way, Jaun Cruz looked great tonight, came in in the 7th inning and retired all 6 battters he faced, setting it up for Soria 1-2-3 in the 9th
