Chronic Vacation sat down with K-Boy The Prince of Blu Division for a new exclusive interview. It’s only been a couple months since we last spoke with the talented young artist, but there’s a lot going on! Read on to find out about K’s new single “We Jerk,” his new mixtape “California Earthquake” with DJ Skee & Dow Jones, and his forthcoming solo debut, due this summer.
ChronicVacation.com: We’re back with K-Boy for another exclusive interview. What’s goin on dude?
K-Boy: What’s up West Coast! Eddie, how are you doing? You know The Prince, I’m out here grinding very hard.
ChronicVacation.com: So, since we spoke last, there’s been a mixtape in the works with DJ Skee and Dow Jones. That sounds dope. Tell us about the concept behind this project…
K-Boy: Well, the name of my tape is called “The California Earthquake,” and I feel like this is my best work yet. It’s very groundbreaking for my career. I’m also going to shake up a lot of people with this tape. Nothing is worse than an earthquake in Cali! It leaves a major impact, which is my plan in this industry.
ChronicVacation.com: Tell us about working with Dow Jones and Tha Bizness. They’re some of the most talented new producers out right now, in our opinion.
K-Boy: Tha Bizness are greatness. They understand me as an artist, everything they do fits my style. I mean, it’s a pleasure to work with such talented dudes. Dow Jones is family, I’ve been dealin’ with Dow for years now. Shouts out to Henny and Kuddie Fresh of Tha Bizness!
ChronicVacation.com: How did you link up with Skee for this project?
K-Boy: Well, Skee’s been dealing with Glasses [Malone] for some time now, you know Skee and Dow did the Blu Division mixtape “The Electric Chair” last year for us. I got at Skee a few times and I know he’s been keepin up with the music. I seen him in Vegas at the Magic Show, told him about it, and he was down.
ChronicVacation.com: We’ve been hearing about your single “We Jerk,” produced by Drop and Bear, for a while now, and we’ve finally had a chance to hear it. Explain the record to us…
K-Boy: Everyone knows I’m the king of the jerk movement in these streets and also this rap shit. Shouts out to The New Boyz who had a song called “You a Jerk,” but the jerk was started by the Crips years ago. I’m happy to see everyone picked up on it and now it’s going to be a worldwide epidemic.
ChronicVacation.com: We’ve heard your album is gonna be coming this summer. The West Coast always needs that one album to cruise around to every summer. Tell us why your album is gonna be THAT album…
K-Boy: You know what Eddie? I think it’s what the West’s been missing. I’m bringing back that gangsta sound with a little, fly, cool twist, and it’s good music everyone can relate to, cry to, party to, and bang to. You know, it’s that west coast fire.
ChronicVacation.com: What other projects do you have in the pipeline?
K-Boy: Those who know K-Boy know I’m a studio rat, so I’m working. For all you Bloc Boy fans, me and my main man Ace been talkin and we’re working toward something classic in the making. I have a mixtape with super singer Marleik called “The Gangsta and the Gentleman” with DJ Ill Will. I have a collabo tape in the works with G.E.D. and Top Dawg Ent’s Schoolboy Q, and also a mixtape with Joe Moses called “Blu Blood,” which is another tape showing my Crip and Blood unity.
ChronicVacation.com: We’re looking forward to everything you’ve got coming. Is there anything else you want to say to the fans?
K-Boy: Look out for the big homie G. Malone’s album “The Beach Cruiser” on June 9th, and Blu Division projects from Conflict, Quiz, Stage, Ludeboi, and Roc Slanga. Get my “California” mixtape when it drops, my debut album “Jerkin,” and when you’re in the club, tell the DJ to play “We Jerk” by K-Boy! *Laughs*
Support West Coast music in general! Nipsey Hussle’s debut album is due this summer and also Jay Rock’s “Follow Me Home.” Pick up Joe Moses’s “Bitch I’m Moses” mixtape too. Shouts out to Roccett, Lil Bam, 211, the Get It Gang, the big homies Kurupt and Daz, Bad Lucc and Damani, Problem, Bangloose, Mistah FAB, Beeda Weeda, D-Lol, Black Reign, Big and Tum Tum, Gino Green Global, Poca J Boog and Fizz, and everybody else who’s got love for The Prince. The Bloc Boyz never went nowhere! Ace and K-Boy, we still coming, you haters!
