Whats up DubCNN, I figured since i've heard the new DAZ album already, atleast the current tracklisting, I should give yall a pre-release review. And since it's not out yet and people wanna know about it, I didn't start this topic in the reviews section. I don't wanna start gettin into how I heard it or sending mp3s to people, this is just a review and thats that. But if you must know, no i don't have the mp3s. I missed 3 of the tracks, so you'll have to do without those.

Daz Dillinger
Public Enemiez (2009)
Written by Fratthouse (E-Money & G.B.)

1. Streetz Most Wanted
1 of the 3 I didn't hear. I may have heard a bit of it, but I won't do a review on a song I don't remember. One of the few gangster tracks on the album

2. You Let Me Down (ft. Latoya Williams)
Right off of this track, you know it's gonna be an entirely different album. It starts with the RnB lines from Latoiya repeating "You Let Me Down" and obviously thats the hook for the song. The beat is different than a lot of the recent beats I'm used to with Daz, but thats not saying anything negative though. It's a nice beat, with more of a laid back feel. Daz comes in and lays some typical Daz verses down. A lot of the track is Latoiya, and that will be a common theme throughout the CD. 30-40% of each song is singing, but it goes very well with Daz's style of rapping.

3. Tell Me What You Got
I'm not sure if this one came out yet or not (it was supposed to), but I liked this one. Daz goes through his life story starting in his Death Row days. He repeats the "Tell Me What You Got Now...Nothin..." in the hook and i'm pretty sure he's addressing that to Big Suge. In fact, i think most of the song is just letting Suge know that. The beat is what we are more used to from Daz, but it's still a good one. This is one of the few actual gangsta rap tracks on the album and Daz comes correct with the lyrics/flow.

4. Life Stagez
This track is much more like the first, with an RnB singer, not sure who she is. She is all over the chorus saying the track title as well, like the first track. The beat is alright, nothing special. Another laid back track that I didn't like it at first, but as it went on, liked it more. Daz once again lays down some nice verses and that's that. Nothing special, but still a good track.

5. Nuthinz Gonna Stop Me (ft. Los)
This was probably my least favorite track on the album, due to the weak hook and average beat. It wasn't a bad song at all, but wasn't really very good. Los is on the hook repeating "nothing's gonna stop, nothing's gonna stop", with Daz chiming in as well adding his two cents in the chopped/screwed fashion. That got pretty annoying after a while. The beat is kinda simple, but not bad. Another laid back track, and I guess I would have to hear it again to like it.

6. U're 2nd II None
1 of the 3 I didn't hear. But from the looks of it, it's just like the others.

7. Tear Drops
I don't know why, but I really liked this one. Here's another track with the RnB singer on the hook, but she's uncredited again. Maybe it was a sample though. She repeats "tear drops falling" several times like the other tracks did, but with the beat and tone of voice, it goes together great. Daz kicks in on the verses with a sick flow and nice lyrics. If I remember correcty this one was about all the dead homies. This is another laid back track as you can see, and theres a pattern here with the tracks. Most are indeed laid back, not-too-gangsta sounding. I never heard stuff like this from Daz ever, but I will say, i'm not too huge on his history.

8. In My Neighbourhood
Another cool, easy-going track. The beat is a little more active and Daz gets a little more aggresive on the verses, but it's another good song. The hook is from another uncredited RnB singer and she refrains a few bars before reciting the "In My Neighbourhood" line. Good track.

9. Munchiez 4 Ya Love (ft. Nicole Wray)
The softest song on the album. Still, one of the best on the album. Nicole Wray comes mad correct on this one, almost killing Daz on his own shit lol. I'm not even into RnB, but so far, with Daz's verses, the very laid back beats and all these RnB singers on the hooks, this CD is surprisingly good and different.

10. My #1 Gyrl (ft. Los)
The second softest song on the album, probably the softest lyrics, but once again, it's a good one. Definately not as good as Munchiez 4 Ya Love, but Los was given a longer hook in this one and Daz spits in a different style here. The beat is cool and Daz is coming correct with this album, foos shouldnt be doubting him.

11. Why Can't U See (ft. Chris Starr)
Like all the others, or most of em, it's a softer track with a softer beat. Chris Starr comes good on the hook and Daz spits some good verses. Like the others, it comes together nice. Not much to say about this one that hasn't already been said about the others.

12. Let's Git N 2 Somethin' (ft. Tony Terry)
Another soulful track. I'm telling you, Daz has really changed shit with this album. Tony Terry's hook fits in well with the average beat and Daz lights it up with the flow. I'd also like to point out, there's some bits on this album where Daz does some singing himself.

13. Meet Me @ Tha Strip Club
Heres some Gangster shit! Heres some shit we've definately heard from Daz before, and it doesn't fit at all with the rest of the album. I actually thought this was one of the weaker tracks on the album, mostly because it really didn't fit in. It uses the "Only On Tha Leftside" ATL-type beat with the typical Daz flow. For fans of Only On Tha Leftside, this sounds like a cut from that. One thing I would like to point out though...Daz said he creates his cover/title for the cd first, then follows it by creating all the music according to that cover. I've never heard of anyone doing that before, but if he did that for this album, he MUST of used a different cover, because only this track and maybe 2 or 3 others relate to the cover. I will say though, most of his other CDs seem to be that way. Oh and this one has 2Pac, chopped n screwed on the hook.

14. Metro PCS (ft. Nicole Wray)
An older track here, that everyone already heard, with a more gangster beat, but much softer lyrics and hook. I don't like this one too much, but it fits with the cd, especially after the previous song. Review it for yourself, go listen to it.

15. Don't Slip
And another gangster track. A smooth beat, not too laid back, much more like the Daz we're used to. I think this is the only track on the album where he does the hook.

16. Public Enemiez
1 of the 3 I didn't hear. Again, I may have heard a bit of it, but I won't do a review on a song I don't remember. Probably another gangster track, making that 5 or 6 on the album.

FINAL VERDICT - If you're a big Daz fan, you obviously need to pick this one up, but if you're a just rap fan in general, this is some shit you need to pick up. Usually I would say download it first, see if you like it and then decide, but this one I can assure you is one of Daz's best. He hasn't rapped like this in years and hasn't had an album of this sort, ever. It may be a little on the softer side, but whatever, it's some good shit and will clearly be one of the albums of '09. This is the new Daz!

I'm actually looking forward to this album, nice change of pace for Daz. That's one thing about the homie, every single project has a totally different sound, so if you don't like one your bound to like the next. Sounds like he's got something to say on this project.

I don't know why people think this is a good review. Most tracks on the album are descibed as 'nothing special' or 'average', then the more gangsta type tracks get critisized for not fitting with the rest of the album, except this gets contradicted later on. Eventually you get the idea that this album might not get such a good review, but the surprising conclusion is that it's probably one of the best albums of '09  :-\

I'm definitly interested in the project, but this review didnt help me paint a good picture of what it's gonna be at all.
