God, we've been hearing bout this song for ages. From Mel-Man, to Ben Baller, to The Source..now it will finally be available on Jay-Z's new album.
I remember Ben Baller and Hitt sayinf Hittman was on the chorus, and that Dre & Mel did the beat. Rakim the verses of course.
Now, Truth and Jay-Z have been added. So I guess Hitt won't be on the song. But this is hella tight. I'm sure this will be a single, and blow the fuck up!

I gotta give it up to Jigga...
He know's how to use the "Westcoast" to make a hitt..
Remeber "Izzo" (Classic westcoast slang)
"Takeover" (Classic Door's Jim Morrison voice sample)
& that new pac remake....and now Using Dre's classic "The Watcher"
It's True what Jim Morrison said..."The West is the Best"

Jay-Z also ripped off the yay area 'parkin lot pimpin' slang.
nice morrison line btw.. remember that one now :)

This doesn't mean I like Jay-Z or anything. But Jesus Christ! Rakim, Dre, Truth and Jay-Z over a Dre produced track! Finally, we will get a taste of what Ra will sound like with Dre.
:o :o :o

hell yeah nigga, n props to the homie hatesrats on the post, word up nigga, but like yeah its funny how we finally gon get this song, i doubt it'l be a single though
-
Doubt it will be a single. The next single will most likely be by the Neptunes.
But you never know he might have 6 singles for this album like Vol. 2.
-

-

Okay, how can you miss with these ingredients:
Dre-beat.
Rakim-verse, Dre-beat & Jigga-verse?
But I guess you miss a BTNH-verse?

First of all, it is fucking wack that Dre would wait all this time to release this track, and give it to Jay nonetheless! I mean, this track, since it is actually real, woulda came in handy around the time The Wash Sdtrk cam out, or even Truth Hurts LP.
Anyway, how can this song not be dope? The Watcher beat, Dre, Rakim, and Jay Z all on one song? Crazy, all though it pisses me off that Jay had nothin to do with the original, and probably just called Dre up and paid him 350 g's for one of his hottest leftover tracks.........

Then again, Jigga wrote Dre's biggest hit in years, the big comeaback single "Still D.R.E."
Jigga will be on Detox too, so why shouldn't they exchange some favours?
The best producer and the best (hit-)ghostwriter..

The problem with this song: it's a gimmick. It won't be representative of what Ra's album is gonna sound like, because it's 'the watcher part II', so it'll be like 'b please II' was.... dope, but everybody will forget it.
-
Ya Jome, you are right cuz Jay definitely hooked Dre up on Still Dre..........i mean, the beat alone woulda made STill Dre a hit, but Jay Z wrote some easily accessible lyrics for the song to make it an even bigger hit.
-
Dre has giving this track to Jay-Z for promotion for Rakim. Think about it.
-
He's promotin' everybody with it. Jay-Z's album is the best album to promote somebody on, since they sell so good.

Word. I definately feel more of an urge to check Jay's album out now simply because of this one track, and not only are Dre fans gonna wanna hear it but Rakim is gonna bring in alot of hype for this album too, and Jay is a big name anyways. I don't think it will be forgettable though, it will probably be the best track on the album......

Eminem wrote "The Watcher," I think many agree...cause it is pretty obvious.

"Get zipped up in plastic when it happens that's it" /Jay-Z on "Takeover"
"Get zipped up in plastic when it happens that's it" /Dr. Dre on "The Watcher"
I still think Jigga wrote it and not Eminem

Look man, Jigga wrote Still D.R.E and NOTHING else on "2001" everyone knows that cuz Dre & Jigga made a statement about it back in da day, read the credits, its all there (if u dont know: S. Carter is jigga´s real name), so if he wrote more songs, they would have said that, i mean why write more than one song if u only gets credits from one???. BTW Eminem is on the hook for "The Watcher" too so its pretty obvious that he wrote the shit, u can hear that the style is similar to Em´s!
Peace

Yo man...Jigga steals/imitates a lot of lines from Dre and Snoop. Go to The Vault section and peep the credits for "2001." Everyone basically agrees on who wrote what.
Just listen to the lyrics...they are very Eminem-ish.

"The Watcher" is written by Eminem...
