Post by: Al Bundy on May 11, 2009, 10:54:16 PM: i've actually made a appreciation thread about this album a long time ago. erick sermon is one of my alltime favorite producers and this album is one of the reasons why. after the epmd breakup, he really showed that he could run the show by himself. every track is bangin and has some memorable lines. hell, the ice cube + kam + erick sermon collabo was off the hook.

i think he produced pretty much the whole of 'it's a beautiful thing' too and to me that album is a classic. production is flawless and keith rhymes his ass off as usual.

His production from that period was amazing - there's not a bad beat on the album - but his lyrics are so weak that the beats themselves just seem wasted. The best tracks are those where he has a guest (ie. I love 'Freak Out' and 'Tell Em')

I'd much rather listen to 'The Most Beautifullest...' or 'Dare iz a Darkside' and hear a dope emcee on the mic while Erik just handles the beats.

I think lyrically No Pressure, beatwise Double Or Nothing. Overall probably the first one but I bumped the hell out of Double Or Nothing.
