Westside Connection - Bow Down (1996)
To start off, in my opinion, an album like this will never be done again. At the height of the East/West "fued", Westside Connection dropped this landmark album that needed no catchy hooks, and straight shitted on anybody disrespecting the west.
Although 'Pac said he didn't like the direction they were going, everything about this album is without a doubt untouchable. The chemistry, the flows, the beats, the content, is all on point. Ice Cube was on a mission, and Cypress Hill, Q-Tip, and NYC were on the hitlist. From classics like "Cross 'Em Out & Put A K" to "Bow Down" to "Hoo Ride" this album pretty much put the stamp on what a classic group album should sound like.
Standout tracks:
Critics In New York
King Of The Hill
Gangstas Make The World Go Round
fuck it, the whole damn album....
Overall Rating: 10/10

Also cosign! I have had so many copies of this album go 'missing' at parties... damn! This was one of the first albums for me back in the days... I wasnt a fan from birth but albums like this won me over!
-
definite classic, although critics in new york is the only song on the album that I skip
-
Oh yeah for sure, great album! Listening to it really takes you back to that east/west era indeed. Ironic that Pac should be critical about the content, when he's the one who's most known for feuding with the eastcoast.
-
I dint understand why Tupac had a a beef with this.... TUpac as much as i liked him ... was hating everything and everyone it seems
-
this albums is a classic everyone involved was on top of there game and it came out nice play it regularly

2pac was not fueding with the east coast...just bad boy and people who came to bad boys defense
pac was down with alot of NY people still...and NJ...such as his own group (The outlawz) and the boot camp clique
-

"East Coast nigga rushin..."
"...plus we been beefin wit the East Coast, mo casualties"
On a serious note though, I was never a fan of Common's "The Bitch In Yoo" because I'm not a fan of Common. That subway shit ain't for me, with the exception of a few artists like Nas, etc.

Can someone tell me what 2pac said tho I rememeber an interview where he said look at the bow down album, basically that he started what ice cube and westside connection are trying to do!
what else did he say anyone got any clips?

tight album, all the beats were hard and the rhymes were tight, terrorist threats was areal letdown though but this album is a classic "gangsta" westcoast album
-
I agree that Bow Down was one of the most classic Westcoast albums
