haha it was on the news tonight. They were saying how it has ran out of ideas and lacks creativity and fans are not liking it. They interviewed a radio dj and a couple of fans. One of the fans said, "Nobody wants to hear another Ice Cube CD"
For the record, the fan who said nobody wants to hear another ice cube cd, is both deaf and gay.
I agree Hip Hop is dead...been dead for years to me, but I will take another Ice Cube cd over 99.9% of any other new hip hop album.
-
Ice Cube dropped a new freestyle on with C-tunes and DJ Skee maybe a year ago and it's fire
rap isn't dead, the good shits just underground now because the illuminati realizes that they don't want violence in the forefront of the rap game - just lots of partying and hoes

He must have sounded funny when he talked.

It is dead, but more like on death bed. It will hang on til there's an actual genre to replace it.
When disco, funk died hip hop was there to replace it, for black music, popular music. It'll be around till we get a new genre. Mostly like it'll be a reformed hip hop they call Urban Music, simply.
The Machine knows what it's doing. Call me crazy but the "man", machine, labels actually, purposely wanted hip hop dead. They got tired of dealing with the BS from rappers, negros, wiggers, violence. Rappers has became more of a liability than an assest to labels. They made the stars. They have the power so they decide to break them too. They want to destroy the genre and reform it.
There are many talent in pure hip hop form but notice the talentless get the deals? notice more south artist get deals than anything? They kept west artist awaay, east artist can't really get major deals like that.
Less lyricst good artist are put on cause they could keep it alive but the cooning and lack of talent would turn people off form the genre, and of course adding the ignorance thus killing hip hop. This was planned. Trust me. Peep the book coming by Camrom former manager. Big Joe!

All idiots who say hip hop is dead aint and never been hip hop fans they were just on the band wagon. Nas said it just for shock value. Death is something you dont come back from. Sure hip hop is at its worst state ever but it aint dead. Hip Hop has all these motherfuckers running shit who dont live a hip hop lifestyle, they dont come from the same environments that reflect hip hop music plain and simple. The letter boys have cracked down on bootlegging that definitely hurt hip hop,and also the internet hurt hip hop more than it helped. And i cant blame it all on everybody except the artist because there is lack creativity coming from 99% of niggaz thats out today. But those combinations all make up why hip hop is in the state that its in now.

TRUE.
I think what's really dead it's the hip-hop hype/trend, which is a bad thing if you think of making money, but on the other side, only the true will survive. Hip-hop is PEOPLE at first, and a WAY OF LIVING. As long as i'm livin it aint dying. Plus - the internet - made us fuckin spoiled, there's so much shit out here that we don't appreciate good work anymore, or let it slip between our fingers. we getin bored in a minute(that might be the artist fault 2). When was the last time You banged some album for months?
-
Hip Hop is not dead, you just have to avoid the mainstream radio and your straight. There's plenty of artists out there still dropping heat and a lot of promising talent coming up. You just have to know where to look and not be afraid to listen to someone who your not familiar with.
BTW: Who WOULDN'T want another Ice Cube album?
-
I could care less if Cube puts out another album. I actually think he should stay retired. His last two releases were at best aiight and that's not saying much. Once he started acting his rap career was dead. His image was destroyed and his message doesn't resonant the same. I appreciate him doing it for the love the same way I did Will Smith's Lost and Found but the West Coast needs to move on. Pay your respects but look forward.
As for hip-hop or rap to be precise (because that's what they're really talking about), if it's dead so is any other genre of music. I would argue that it's still in its infancy. It's only 20 some odd years old. Artists like MIA & Ebony Bones are hip-hop. How can you say it's not creative when you have someone like MIA? How can you say it's not fresh when you have passionate artists like Immortal Technique to Kanye West? How can you say it's not lyrical with artists like Crooked-I, Eminem, Royce, Joell Ortiz? Hell, even lil wayne has show his chops. How can you say it's not diverse when we have Jay-Z to Asher Roth to Rick Ross? For every real artists there's a fake one. How can you say it's not relevant when Nas drops Untitled (nigger)? How can you say it's commercially dead when artist are making record breaking moves - Jay with live nation?
That is why having a proper media representation is dire and important. The internet is great but it's singular as in you go for a specific reason. The radio and the tv are still major sources for the majority of people. The news reflects us as a nation, as a group of people.
People get so caught up on one aspect that they forget to see the entire image.

Guys in FOX NEWS. Since when have they praised hip hop in any way, shape or form.
-
yo word hip hop is dead the only way itll come back is if someone like eminem who is popular at the moment gets on a track and straight calls out names like kurupt's song calling out names :P lol calls flo rida out and everybody elsee yo shit i remember like a couple of months ago i turned bet on and it was 106 and park and some guy was like IMMA DO MEE IMAA DOO MEE and it was like #2 or something and the first one was a music video of a guy telling everyone to do soulja boy dance and every other dance in one song AND IT WAS NUMBER ONE sadddddd how ppl voted for that song to be number one that just proves hip hop is dead
btw its dead cuz of pussy back in the days ppl wud rhyme for respect to get that recognition of being a somebody in the rap game but now its all about getting pussy wordd gettin the car to get the pussy gettin the bling to get the pussy and so forth word like some of these cats out now probly kno rakim and krs one wudnt respect wat their doing and shit but do u think theyll change that no they want pussy

First you have to consider the source, Fox news....Anything associated with Black, ghetto, underground is gonna get the death penalty from Fox. Alot of genres of music are struggling including R&B, rock along with hip hop....The only way hip hop can get back into the mainstream is if the Jimmy Iovines of music would step aside but that is not onna happen cause to much money is involved.. Back when Death Row, Bad Boy, Ruff Ryders, Master P's label (drew a blank) and even Def Jam were selling millions, Suge and Dre, Puff, Master P, Russell and those dudes who had a pulse for the music had more power but now, just look at Aftermath. Unless the project is guaranteed to sell millions, it won't see the light of day. Hittman may have only gone gold if he would have been able to release his joint after the Chronic 2001 but what he fuck would have been wrong with that?? Dre kind of sold his hip hop soul to Jimmy and Interscope but he is rich so I guess he is ok with it but the music suffers the more corporate bitches like Jimmy take over.
