Injured Niner Harris faces ACL surgery
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers cornerback Walt Harris could miss the upcoming season after tearing a ligament in his right knee.
Harris, 34 and a 13-year pro entering his fourth year with the 49ers, was injured during Tuesday's practice in a collision with receiver Dominique Zeigler. Harris will need surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament, which is at least partially torn.
Harris, who has 35 career interceptions and four touchdowns, also played for Chicago, Indianapolis and Washington. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl during his first season with San Francisco in 2006.
Tarell Brown probably will take Harris' place atop the 49ers' depth chart opposite fellow cornerback Nate Clements.
shits already not lookin good......

so many CBs available on the FA market. Harris will be missed tho wat a smart savvy player he is.
Pacman, reynaldo Hill, Mcallister, ROD HOOD (who i want), Sam Madison, Pat Surtain, Ty Law, dre Bly, Fakhir Brown, jason craft, travis fisher, aaron glenn, ricky manning, Rw Mcquarters, deltha Oneal. Thats alot of vets but there is also some younger guys too, most of these guys can still play. I want Hood or Fisher or Manning.
And Dunta Robinson is holding out because he didnt want to be franchised. I WOULD KILL to get Him...

Nice that they took a flyer on Bly, he said he's really motivated after getting cut and he wants to show that he can still play. Most athletes say that so we will find out, but it gives us a good veteran presence in the secondary to battle with Tarell Brown for the starting CB spot. If Dashon Goldson stays healthy and makes plays at FS, our D will be fierce this year. I can't wait for football season.

good call. i cant wait either. last 7 weeks of last season we were in the top 4 in TOTAL defense the only other teams that gave up less points: Titans, Pitt, Balt. Thats GREAT Company. Our defense is top 5 as long as our O stays on the field...
-
our defense also finished as the 13th overall defense in the nfl last year...so it was very solid..

Plus the 23.8 ppg we gave up was really a mirage considering all the turnovers we had, especially when JT was qb, people had way to good of field poistion. Tha last 7 weeks we stopped turning the ball over and our defense was top 4. OUR DEFENSE COULD BE GREAT

The injury to Harris hurts, but the D will still be an easy top 10. The D-Line has a lot of depth, the LB's are good and can wreak havoc if Lawson has a breakout year, he has all the talent. Our secondary has some good veterans and a few young guys with something to prove, and that's the question mark of our D. I just know Hill better start off as the QB this year, he deserves it after the way he finished our last 2 seasons. Arizona wasn't even that great last year, and Seattle and St. Louis have rookie coaches and injury-prone QB's, I like our chances.
